DESIGNED FOR FLASH FLOOD AFFECTED AREAS NEAR BASHKHALI, CHITTAGONG. A FLOOD LEVEL OF 4’0”7’0” MAKES THE EDUCATION SYSTEM DIFFICULT, DURING THE FLOOD PERIOD. SO THE OBJECTIVE WAS DESIGNING AN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FOR 30 STUDENTS, THAT MAY WITHSTAND THE NATURAL CALAMITY AND THE EDUCATION CAN CONTINUE WITHOUT ANY INTERRUPTION.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES: – REPLACE EXISTING KARNAFULLY MARKET AND PROPOSE NEW COMMERCIAL SPACE. – PROVIDE A NEW COMMERCIAL OFFICE BUILDING TO COPE UP WITH THE INCREASING DEMAND FOR NEW COMMERCIAL ZONE AT AGRABAD COMMERCIAL AREA (CBD) – PROPOSE NEW OFFICE ZONE FOR CHITTAGONG DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (CDA), REPLACEMENT OF AGRONI BANK AND FOOD MINISTRY OFFICE – PROVIDE A 24 STORIED RESIDENTIAL TOWER WITH ALL FACILITIES IN ORDER TO FULFILL DEMAND FOR APARTMENTS AT HALISHAHAR AREA. – CREATE INTERNAL CONNECTION BETWEEN TWO ADJACENT ROADS ALONG THE SITE.

CONCEPT 1. TO DEVELOP THE ‘BACKSPACE’ CONDITION, A CENTRAL GREEN SPACE IS NEEDED WHICH IS A DEMAND OF LOCAL DENSE AREA. 2. THE CENTRAL GREEN SPACE MAY ACT AS SOCIAL GATHERING SPACE, ENHANCE COMMERCIAL ACTIVITY OF THE SITE, AND ALSO SERVE LOCAL ENVIRONMENTAL PURPOSE. 3. PLACING THE BUILDING MASSES BY CONSIDERING HEIGHTS IN WAY THEY DON'T BLOCK EACH OTHER. EVERY MASSES INCLUDING SURROUNDING BUILDINGS CAN VISUALLY CONNECT WITH THE CENTRAL GREEN SPACE. 4. FRONT SIDE MASSES ARE ELEVATED SO THE WHOLE SPACE MAY FLOW & MARGE WITH THE CENTRAL GREEN SPACE, MINIMIZING THE NARROWNESS AND MAXIMIZING VISUAL CONNECTIVITY.
