It starts with the MATERIALS
Sutherland carefully selects materials that showcases the unparalleled craftsmanship and design that our brand is known for. We only use the highest quality materials to ensure our products will last a lifetime. Teak, aluminum, stainless steel, and a myriad of natural and sintered stones round out our offerings.
TEAK
We believe wood is one of the most beautiful and natural materials you can bring into your home. From the grains to the genuine warm colors, we’re proud to showcase only the highest grade of teak in our furniture, and never add sapwood. Due to the wood density and high content of oil and silicates that act as a barrier, teak is incredibly water and weather resistant, resulting in heirloom quality outdoor furniture.
Renowned for its natural properties that require decades of growth, the quality of t eak starts at the seed . We partner only with manufacturers that source teak from well-managed plantations throughout Asia. These plantations are not only supported by local farmers who help grow the teak from seeds to full grown trees, but also minimize environmental impact in the region. By letting the trees mature for 30-40 years before use, we ensure consistent color and uniform grains.

• We carefully hand-mark and cut every component to ensure maximum yield is obtained from this valuable raw material.
• From the plantation to the Sutherland warehouse in Dallas, every piece is meticulously inspected with quality control along every step of production.
All of our teak furniture is offered in four finishes. Depending on the construction of the item, some finishes may not be available. The finishing is hand-applied in Dallas, custom to each order.
Natural, weathered, clear sealer and yacht finish all offer different aesthetics and benefits depending on the project.

Sutherland makes every effort to preserve and replenish the trees we harvest. We are proud to be a One Tree Planted Business Partner. Meaning every Sutherland order contributes toward planting new trees in countries where we produce our furniture, offering both environmental and economic benefits. We are thrilled to do our part in keeping the great outdoors GREAT.
ALUMINUM
A lightweight yet tough metal with an excellent corrosion resistance. Sutherland uses marine-grade aluminum to ensure maximum frame strength and durability over the years. We invest in unique aluminum extrusions to ensure design integrity rather than relying on stock profiles that other companies use.
Sutherland aluminum frames are coated with our specially formulated powder coat. This powder coat is proven to reflect more UV rays, thus keeping your frame cooler.
Offered in 18 powder coat color options, each piece is made to order and hand painted in Dallas.
316 STAINLESS STEEL
Ideal for yachting, Sutherland’s 316 Stainless Steel has been thoroughly tested to withstand harsh environments. Sutherland also takes an additional step of adding a nano coating on top of the stainless steel for an extra level of protection from surface corrosion.
EXQUISITE STONE
Sutherland superior designs can be paired with natural materials that need no perfecting. From our Indo Gray stone that has unique veining and color, to Carrara marble tops that pair effortlessly with our premium teak, we offer a multitude of stone options for ultimate customization.
