Village visits Taoyuan Dakeng Area Dakeng locates in Linkou area, with a lot of factories and a lot of foreign workers working here, which is the reason why there are many country houses. But after a visit, I found that the vacancy rate of the houses is very high and that the entire community is empty. Local residents said there is home to many indigenous people; they work in factories, and at night they drink on the streets. Most large courtyard houses are rented to foreign workers, or had a covered hut. They build new houses next to the old ones. Formerly they produced and made money by agricultural land, and now renting house has become their new life style.
Interview of renting environment in Dakeng After several times of visits, an aboriginal family living in the middle of the mountain moved here from Taitung, because the middle-aged one works here for the Five Young Highway Project. And also because of economic factors, 12 people in the family live in the small hut. The family had also lived in the foothills of the country house, but later they discovered the house rent in the mountain is cheaper, and the landlord also let them grow vegetables in the field next to the house. The idyllic rural living environment sort of makes their homesick feelings while they are up away from Taitung with beautiful mountains. Out of lack of space, they made a topical wood bathroom outside the house. In order to save gas money, they will pick up the wood to boil water bath. In summer they live in a tin hut, and it feels like a furnace, so they dug a door on the first floor, which opens in summer, making the room cooler, and it will be locked up in winter to block wind. ⽳㠟䁤⤎✸恱⡪㜸吤
