Aims To learn the beginning of community design that can continuing project from studio in environmental design to studio in urban renewal design. Which is a useful acknowledgment that is the majority of urban environment. These three projects are lead to the human-made surroundings that provide the setting for human activity, ranging in scale from personal shelter and buildings to neighborhoods and siteds that can often include their supporting infrastructure, such as water supply.

MUDSKIPPER METAPATTERN LIGHTING ART

ART INSTALLATION A STUDY OF MUDSKIPPER THONBURI,BANGKOK

Project To study the movement of mudskipper which

they used fin for walk, jump and swim. Decode the form of mudskipper’s movement, find that code and use it in the design of lighting art installation. Placed at thonburi, Bangkok in the festival ‘Kadeejeen-Klongsarn-Saphanphut’

Design Decoded the unit of mudskipper’s fin to design

the new movement in new fabric, used foam and paper, which the mudskipper’s moves are significant to decoded. Walk, jump and swim are the main mechanism of them to created the Metapattern design for lighting art installation. So the reflect of the light can move around the wall or floor, because they transform from the mechanism of mudskipper.

Project The project creates the new research

center, residential buildings, shops and other facilities for students, teachers, and users who come to the site area. In the center of the site, there is a waterfront-multipurpose area which is connected to other zones together by natural pedestrians, profiting the panoramic view of nature. The design of this area also supports inner and outer-users.

DISASTER TRAINING C E N T E R BUILD ENVIRONMENT PROJECT AT LAMSINGHA ISLAND CHANTHABURI,THAILAND

Project

This project is located on the seaside of Laem Sing island on the gulf of Thailand, purposing a group of affordable housing and its facilities designed for catastrophic risks : natural disaster such as earthquake, flood, tsunami, etc. The site contains some edifices and spaces: student dormitory and temporary housing, learning center, canteen, multipurpose area, sport club and training area for evacuation plan. All facilities are connected to each other 12 by the network of friendly pedestrian.

Suburban development is the project which study to support the population growth in the cities through the readjustment of zoning commercial, residential and transit oriented district (T.O.D). Uses in order to create employment and improvment in transportation, infrastructure and public facilities 15

This project supports the commercial activity and it develops the old commercial area into the new one, not only for the community but also the district. The project also helps the economy getting better, so the habitants will have a better quality of living. Furthermore, the new commercial area will be extended the office area in 3 sizes (small, medium and large office building) to create a new center of business-commercial zone, but it will also keep the old commercial activity in its place and also support the passers from the new BTS station in the district.

ment plan in order to relieve the growing population of the inner city areas through the removal of areas in declnes that do not have any economic or social advantages and develop them into domestic commercial or industrial spaces for activities that are needed within the city

Project

Developing affordable public housing on the fire-damaged area in the heart of the city.

Design

The public housing contains the development of low and medium-rise affordable housing and parking lots. The site circulates by motorcycle and bike. The empty space between buildings develops into a recreation area : playground, garden or green spaces and commercial row houses.

Project

According to the AFTA (ASEAN Free Trade Area), Bangkok city will be the great center of economic development in the ASEAN area. Furthermore, the development of high-speed train from the government will be connected to the ASEAN countries together. Thus, the central business district of the city will be a strong potential to the country, Siam-ChidlomPloenchit as their commercial efficient, fashion, high-rise residential area and medical center. Criteria for tourism area 1. To be the new gateway of commercial center of Thailand and so on AEC 2. To rehabilitate the green spaces and waterfront spaces 3. To increase the office building for supporting foreign investors

MA S T E R P L AN REALERART OF SIAM-CHIDLOM-PLOENCHIT FASHION DISTRICT DEVELOPMENT

Before, Siam square was the ordinary row-house buildings in the heart of the city. The buildings and their pedestrians were friendly connected to passengers. The redevelopment project will remain the same image of Siam square, restoring and preserving the old facades. To create the new buildings, each building will contain the retail shop and boutique on the podium of the building. These commercial activities will be in the same level (stories) as the Siam old row-houses. For the Sky-connect zone, it will be connected to the Skywalk pedestrian (above level of the street) through the BTS train and the group of department stores : Siam Paragon, Siam Center, Siam Discovery and MBK. The Sky connect will be also linked to the high-rise building (more than 3 stories) in Siam Square, such as Building on Rama I road, 29 plaza and Bonanza mall.

Project

The design made for improve the quality of walkway to connect the pedestrian network with two center; education area and train station. Around Bantadthong area is the new employment center for new educated student and commercial studio. Also redesign the new shopping commercial of Bangkok around Hua Lam Phong traing station. After analysis all data of commercial used, residential used, education used, etc. Solving each problems by create the concept of “Education and employment center: Walk-to-work“ to combine people into public spaces by rehabilitation and adaptive reuse. The function of building and also adapting reuse for create the best solution for public use. 32

On the 3rd and 4th year event-series of Kadeejeen, I as a volunteer student, was a part of the workshop working with the Kadeejeen inhabitants, and making the art installation for the event.

Kadeejeen is one of the most popular old town of Bangkok where old architecture could be found. The community has been corporate, for so long, with UDDC (Urban Design and Development Center) and the Community of Kadeejeen, headed by Niramon Kulsrisombat, professor of the department of Urban and regional planning, Chulalongkorn University and Director of UDDC, who is a research-based institutor working on various urban-scale projects in Bangkok. UDDC has worked extensively with the community of Kadeejeen and has established the art and design project site there for more than 5 years.

On the 5th year event series of Kadeejeen, I worked as a project assistant for UDDC, working for the event design and site planning, creating cultural activities with the Kadeejeen inhabitants, designing the “3d arts” along the waterfront space, designing (drawing and illustration) the flyer (bottom-right photo) for presenting the stories of “the way of people eat and live” and published for the event.
