Inspiration is everywhere. I am intrigued by beautiful architecture, sculptural works and formgiving. From an early age I have had a passion for architecture and design. Throughout my life I have always been an ambitious person, striving to do the best and as a result have developed many skills in order to achieve my goals. I work well under pressure, with a high production rate in a short amount of time. Over the years I have taught myself to organize and manage time in order to make a success of all my endeavours. The modules of the first year course are aimed at developing the ability to identify and creatively solve problems concerning man’s interaction with his physical environment. Aspects such as functional planning, structural integrity and meaningful shaping was emphasised during the first year. Man, by nature, is a social creature capable of interaction. Unfortunately, the planning and implementation of the University of the Free State built environment has not always influenced or created oppurtunities for social exchange. This thesis explores how architecture can influence the interconnection between different types of people by promoting interaction.
The current project springs from a great need to enhance and allow for social transformation to occur on the University of the Free State Main campus.

A detail layout leads to the resolution of close up details so often missed or ignored in the industry. They help give the client a “real” and “realistic” representation of each space in the building. I enjoy detail design, as interior design is one of my passions in life - one also deals alot with the choosing and specifying of finishes (also something i thoroughly enjoy).

24 May 2014 To whom it may concern Suzaan Swart was a student in the Design Department for all her high school years at Reddam House. She pursued an architecture major in Design for her senior phase, excelling at both her theory and practical components. Subsequently Suzaan achieved an A+ symbol for Design on her Senior Certificate and was awarded the Gold Award for Environmental Design at the Valedictory ceremony. After matric, Suzaan went on to study Architecture at Bloemfontein University and is currently completing her Master’s Degree. From Grade 9, Suzaan’s passion for architecture was her main driving force and her focus was unwavering. This determination impacted on all her academic subjects and she achieved an exceptional matric result. Suzaan is a strong individualist with an amazing sense of ambition and a razor-sharp intellect that is constantly inquisitive and productive. She displays an exceptional work ethic and is really dedicated to her craft, working incredibly well under pressure. Her creative focus and natural talent sets her way above her peers. She also has a very powerful, gregarious personality and maintains a very active sports and extramural curriculum in university. Suzaan is an exemplary student who has set the standard at Reddam. Suzaan is a full-time student in the Department of Architecture at the University of the Free State, currently registered for the Master Professional degree. As masters facilitator I have gotten to know Suzaan as a reliable and honest hardworking student. She completed her previous years successfully with above average achievement in Building Science and Theory of Architecture. Miss Swart is exceptionally creative and her design endeavours acknowledge her ability to think outside the conventions so often slavishly followed by many students. During her masters year Suzaan worked especially hard to develop an extremely well integrated theoretical underpinning, serving as a practical design tool for her design strategy and resolution. Except for the creative ability, Miss Swart is a strong rational designer that always considers functionality and practical implications of her design solutions. Regarding her personality it is worth mentioning that Miss Swart has the utmost respect and care for students and staff. Suzaan is gentle, polite and well mannered.
