HISTORY OF TRNK
Friends and former co-workers, Tariq Dixon and Nick Nemechek, founded TRNK in 2013. Dixon and Nemechek considered their homes an extension of themselves. They believe that the home is a place for relaxation and a place that reflects one’s hobbies and travels. TRNK consists of an elegant and simple curation of home products and furniture from around the globe with a distinct and carefully-considered point of view.
SCOPE AND SIZE HOME FURNISHINGS INDUSTRY The home furnishings industry allows consumers to customize thier homes and gives them a seemingly endless array of options. Typically, this industry’s successes and struggles are reflected by the housing market. However, as of recently, the US housing market is on the rise and so is the demand for home furnishings. The United States home furnishings industry is the largest in the world. Its 2017 retail value is $144,367,600 and is estimated to grow to $151,367,000 by the year 2020.
COMPETITION
Dwell’s store allows consumers to shop looks featured in their home and decor magazine. The website is a unique curation of products that fit within the Dwell aesthetic, and it allows consumers to easily click through to purchase products from other retailers.
“Canvas Home is a collection of modern, sustainable home goods, inspired by the beauty of hand crafted objects. Our motto ‘simple, sustainable, style’ perfectly summarizes our design philosophy and world goals.” Canvas Home’s product assortment aesthetic combines clean design with a rustic, country vibe.
The Future Perfect works with both new and established designers who focus on pushing the boundaries of traditional furniture and home accent design. The Future Perfect features unique and special edition items from a diverse group of designers. They believe that art, home accents, and furniture should be one in the same.
Meaning “the house” in Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian, Huset offers consumers furniture, home decor, and fashion with a modern Scandinavian design in mind. Huset believes that great art and design can be truly life-enhancing, and it strives to make excellent Scandinavian designs accessible to consumers.
TARGET CONSUMER 1
ANWAR, 30 YEARS OLD
ATLANTA (BUCKHEAD), GA LAWYER FAVORITE ARTIST: NICK CAVE After graduating from Morehouse with a degree in Business Law, Anwar decided to stay in Atlanta instead of returning to Nigeria. Staying true to his West African roots, Anwar incorporates bold colors into his lifestyle; however, minimalism has shaped his view. Constant activity and movement cause his living space to be clean and simple for maximum efficiency.

ELI, 34 YEARS OLD
SOHO, NEW YORK FREELANCE ARTIST FAVORITE ARTIST: GERARD PARIS CLAVEL A New York native, Eli attended a community college right outside of his neighborhood. He is regularly featured in Street Style magazines due to his distinct minimal style. White and black are his core colors and reflect his freelance work as an artist. Simple strokes of monochromatic coloring fill his studio apartment.

INES, 40 YEARS OLD
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS MUSEUM CURATOR FAVORITE ARTIST: TATYANA MARKOVTSEVA Rather new to the life of museums and sculptures, Ines is leaving a job as a college professor. She has been working since she entered college, and now just wants to enjoy the slow life. Ines values the technicalities of a Flavian age bust, but also appreciates the raw aesthetic of Carlijn Jacobs photography style. Coming from a field where she curated minds, she now enjoys curating art pieces for her home and her place of work.

Our extraordinary artisans take time and pride in each of their pieces. So in order to honor their unique craftsmanship, we only stock our showroom and website with limited merchandise. Each piece is distinctive, and holds a piece of the artist. We hope that these pieces can become a part of you as well.
BRANDING AND PACKAGING
In lieu of hangtags, TRNK will include a take away message as a sign of appreciation for a consumer’s purchase. It reads: “Welcome fellow home enthusiast! Our Spring/Summer ‘17 collection features clean, cool, and calm pieces from around the world. Bold splashes of color and texture. Each piece is distinctive, and holds a piece of the artist. We hope that these pieces can become a part of you as well. Tariq and Nick”
All products will be packaged in TRNK’s signature white box with black ribbon wrapping and logo ribbon card.
Within each signature box, the product will be wrapped in solid black tissue paper.
