HISTORICAL OR ARCHEOLOGICAL SITES St. Laurent Municipal Hall 1902 heritage site In need of restoring Postage Stamp Provincial Heritage Site View government of Manitoba website Sioux Cemetery In the early 1800’s, the White Horse Plains Sioux came from the U.S. as they were pushed North by the U.S. Calvary. The U.S. Calvary also pushed the Ojibway further north. There was a battle by Fairford. The Ojibway teamed up with the Cree and pushed the Sioux back. There was a huge battle in a field near St. Laurent where they buried their dead. It is proof that the Sioux were here. The Canadian Government never signed treaties with the Sioux. Currently no signage.
