There is a new device in town which has successfully dominated the electronic gadgets industry, bringing a lot of attention back to reading; this is the electronic reading device. Many of these electronic reading devices are coupled with LCD reflective technology and multimedia players and tons of other features and functionalities. While there are a great number of people who like these additional features, there are some people who would much rather have a cheap electronic reader that they can use solely for reading eBooks. The Indigo Kobo and Kindle from Amazon are two fairly straight forward devices that aren't too highly priced. Both of these devices use e-ink technology to display the books. With the e-ink technology the books on the screen appear more life-like, which ultimately reduces glare and strain to your eyes. Both of these devices also have long, impressive battery lives, with the Kindle being able to last for 30 days with wireless turned off and 10 days with it turned on, the Kobo on the other hand can last up to 14 days. The other features of the Kobo are its dictionary and quilted back. These additional features successfully simplify the product, making the product easier to use. With the Kindle you gain access to highlight options, a note making tool, search functionality, built in dictionary, and page search options. Your reading experience while using this device is essentially enhanced without adding complexity. Finding, downloading and purchasing books is a much simpler process with the Kindle eBook reading device, because it's possible for you to carry out this entire process directly from the device. The Kobo on the other hand requires either Bluetooth or USB in order for you to download eBooks to it. The Kobo is likely one of the cheapest electronic reading devices available on the market today at $99 as standard and $149 with Wi-Fi capabilities, but there have been reports of the product running fairly slow with a number of bugs. The Kindle on the other hand costs more than $139, but has far more qualities that make the price seem like a real bargain.
