Looking for something to get a quick response with in your social media marketing? The play on words was intended, because one of the growing trends is to use Quick Response codes, or QR codes, in print, email, and other social media platforms. But the interesting fact is that only about half of consumers actually know what they are! Let's take a quick look at them. A QR code looks like a square blotch of ink, but when viewed by a smartphone's camera, that blotch becomes a marketing offer, discount, entry ticket, or product information piece. Many companies are finding these a great way to engage their mobile customers who may not carry a coupon around, but they might be willing to visit a store or restaurant if they can quickly access a discount. QR codes, therefore, are great tools to reach the last-minute shopper or the tech-savvy prospect. They can be Tweeted, posted to Facebook, LinkedIn, placed on websites, published in articles, and displayed anywhere that a picture can be placed. One growing use is using them like a business card to quickly share information with those whom you meet at networking events or other gatherings. Your contact information can be converted into an image and quickly shared via a text message or email. To scan a QR code, all you need is an app on your smartphone. The app will take a picture of the code and display the text on your phone allowing you to gain access to the offer or information immediately. Then, you can save the image or the information on your phone! Likewise, an app can easily create the code for you, so all you have to do to begin using QR codes is to download an app to your smartphone, and enter or scan your business offers! There are lots of these apps to choose from, so look online for an easy to use, simple app, but make sure it can both read and create the QR codes. You'll want to do both once you see how easy they are to use. Have fun with them in your social media marketing. It only takes a minute or two to create a QR code, and there are immediate benefits for your customers! Besides, they're fun to use and play with!
