Summer 2017

What’s Been Happening? Apologies for the delays in getting our Newsletters out. I have spent quite some time getting caught up with the post-arm break work and updates, indeed only getting caught up fully in April! In terms of my health – go back to the start of 2016, and following an amazing year previous, I started feeling more tired than ever before. Subsequent to this, I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (aka ME/PVFS). Now, other than some memories for Caroline of her ex-partner who had this, I am not used to it at all! I don’t know how this road will happen or affect me – it’s all new to me. The unpredictability of it doesn’t help someone who tries to plan for the most productive day! So, at the moment, I can certainly make every effort to get books and the like done in time, but I cannot make promises. In this Newsletter, you will find the rough dates of publication, correct at Tuesday 13th June 2017. In other news – plenty to get your teeth into! New books and pocket guides, our first Scottish pocket guides, and printed Fleetlists! In Pocket Guides, we will be changing the colour of the cover for each edition, to distinguish which one is which. After 1st (white) and 2nd (light yellow), we have our first third edition, with a nice pale blue colour. How they grow up eh? We are away for a bit in the Summer – heading for Dundee before we head in every direction! We look forward to perhaps seeing you this Summer? Suzy and Caroline xxx

August – Summer Holidays and Bank Holidays We will be closed from Friday 18th August 2017, to the morning of Saturday 2nd September 2017. On the Friday 18th we will be packing for holiday. We will be back late Friday 1st, so should be OK for deliveries or post the following day. On Monday 27th August 2017, our telephone/PA team will be closed all day, as it’s an English Bank Holiday.

Next Paper Newsletter, and our e-News Our next paper Newsletter (7) will be published in September/October 2017. Please remember – paper newsletters are now £8 per year for four/one year, whichever comes last – but you do get a discount off all future orders! If you’d like to get the next four of these (and your discount), just send a payment to us, and we will do the rest! You can also sign up for our free occasional e-Newsletter http://tinyurl.com/h2tenews - all you need is an email address.

As some of you will be aware, Suzy has hosted Scottish Major Operator Fleetlists (compiled by Chris Forbes) at ScotBus.com since 2005. These lists are detailed using PSV Circle records. Until now, these have only been downloadable at www.scotbus.com. However, now you can buy them as printed copies! We have an A4 100-page book of Fleetlists for sale, with some pages of photos. This includes a complete listing of the Craig “Group” (West Coast Motors), First Aberdeen, First Glasgow, First Scotland East, Lothian “Group”, McGills Bus Service, Stagecoach East Scotland, Stagecoach North Scotland, Stagecoach West Scotland, and Xplore Dundee. Updated to include the transfer of First Borders to Craig Group as Borders Buses, and the relocation of Rennies at Wellwood to the former Fife Scottish yard in Cowdenbeath. Also includes Depot and Status codes, as well as a listing of Depot Locations and Codes. All bang up to date, May 2017, A4 size 80gsm paper, with cover clear sheets and staple (plus a slide) binding. This is a printed version which is an enhanced combination of all the Chris Forbesproduced Fleetlists for ScotBus.com, as at May 2017. New Pocket/Quick Guides for areas bordering – and outside - London

Following popular demand, we have a second Hertfordshire Pocket Guide in print, Because of the density of the bus network, this is an A4 size Quick Guide, and on sale for ÂŁ10.00 (2 A5 to one A4 page). This does have a bit more detail than the previous Pocket/Quick Guides, including an Index to Places Served, Where To Board Your Bus in central WGC, Rail timetables and summaries, ticketing information, and several summary timetables for bus routes. Train information includes timetables for both Welwyn North and Welwyn Garden City stations, fares to/from London, and a summary of first/last trains to all areas from these two stations. A map of the Great Northern rail network is on the back page. There is no bus route map with this, but we are hoping to have a loose-leaf map of Welwyn and Hatfield done in the near future by Peter Figg. (We will send the maps onto those who have ordered, as soon as it is ready). Also, we have a new Amersham & Chesham Pocket Guide. This A5 booklet contains all bus timetables for the areas in question, and a combined tube/rail timetable showing Chiltern Railways and the Metropolitan Line. You can also find the Amersham & Chesham map in the centre, by courtesy of Buckinghamshire County Council. Both titles are up-to-date to the 21st May 2017 train/tube changes, as well as the Centrebus 366 changes on 30th May 2017 (for the WGC book).

Our First Scottish Pocket Guides For our first Scottish Pocket Guides, we’ve got two entirely different books, and areas!

The Wee County (as Clackmannanshire is affectionately known) has a bus network of services crossing many A-roads, and smaller roads to rural villages. This is the first time we have been able to include all services in one council area, into a single Pocket Guide. Included is information on local bus services, including information on the DRT services across Muckhart and West Kinross-shire. The booklet is A5, and fits everything in, right up to the beginning of June 2017. Dundee City is a totally different guide – and an attempt to fit a more comprehensive set of details into our classic Pocket Guide format. Dundee is the city where we both grew up, and this is a true comprehensive introduction (while not containing full timetables). We were asked to put something together for Dundee City Council back in 2015 which never saw the light of day. This initial version is a much-enhanced guides – Index to Services, Index to Places Served, City Centre Where To Board Your Bus details, first and last buses, service frequencies, lots of tips and useful information, as well as special information on the new Dundee ABC multi-operator tickets. In a city where three consecutive buses can be change given OPO, exact fare OPO and conductor operated, let our insight be your guide to the City of Discovery.

A New Index!

Our Comprehensive Guides to London (and other areas) are covered in a separate section, immediately after this one. However, a fair number of you do prefer the smaller, one-off guides that we produce. Some of you have asked about an Index, as in Volume 96A. To co-incide with it’s near readiness, we have done the Indexes (to Serices, and Places Served) as a separate book. This is a one-off edition (not updatable), and can now be purchased for £30.00 post free. The Index to Places Served alone takes up more than 400 pages, with two columns per page. As things stand on Tuesday 13th June 2017, we are finishing off the Indexes and compilation, so we should be able to get this out in the next fortnight. So, order this now, and you will get it sent direct, on the day of release.

A New Comprehensive Guide (a little different!)

Gloucestershire Council publish a series of timetable booklets, showing the main bus services (except coaches and school services) into four booklets. These are generally not posted out from the council offices, with regular reissues done as and when things change each quarter. We have put together an A4 comprehensive guide, with our own Index to Services. The Index to Services, and timetable booklets, are supplied by the council. We have this mow on pre-sale, (all June information in, just checking etc.) and expect this will be ready for dispatch in July 2017. Price £30.00, it’s a bit different! Updates can be had quarterly, where we will simply reprint the entire council sections as supplied.

Summer 2017

Comprehensive Guides – some questions! How much are these? Most are £45 per volume, with smaller volumes charged at £25 or £35 as appropriate. There are various set offers for you to add to your collection. We will be doing our Price Match once again - in the event that your pre-order should increase in price, you will still be charged the original price. In the event that it goes down, you will be given a credit note, to represent the actual price charged. Either way, you win! What about postage? Postage is free in the UK for regular customers. This cost is covered (sustainably) by the amount laid aside for trade discounts, as they have a separate postage policy. You may find that two or three books might be sent separately instead of together, to achieve this. If you wonder why – one of our filled A5 ring binders, in a box, weighs about 2 kilograms, and will cost us £2.57 to post on Mailmark. 2kg is the Royal Mail weight limit for Small Parcels in the UK. If I put two books in a box, 4kg will cost me £13.75… which is why we will send these separately, costing us £5.14… So, if we do this, please don’t be alarmed, but we will make every attempt to let you know if this is the case. We post these Royal Mail Second Class postage to many destinations, or via several couriers. Can I pay these sets over a few months? We would be happy to split payments of £75 or more, over three months as you decide. To do this, just give us a ring, email or letter. We can accept cheques or Credit/Debit card details, in the latter case to be one month apart. Do you still have your Prepaid Mailing List? Yes we do! We have a full mention of this, and how to apply and top up, elsewhere in this Newsletter. You can use the Prepaid Mailing List for anything we produce on paper, as well as the books of Steven Knight Media. So, how do I get the free online updates? If you order from us, we will email you (via the e-mail address on the order form – or post if you have not supplied one), with a voucher code. This will include details of which offers this works with, but you should be able to go to www.h2tdownloads.info and follow the steps given. If you’ve bought your book in a store, there will be a set of additional instructions inside the book. When do the updates start from? The updates start the day you sign up, or when the book is produced – whichever of the two is the latter. In other words, if you pre-order a title and updates, the update time won’t start ticking until it is time for the book.

Here To There Newsletter 5

Page 34

Summer 2017

So, how do I get the 20% discount on paper updates? If you order from us, this can be done two ways. Firstly, if you are ordering by post, please subtract your discount from the price of the six month printed update. If you are ordering online, you can order both (and receive a credit note/PayPal refund, as the system cannot work with the variety of options). Alternatively, the book comes out to you with the discount details enclosed, for you to then decide. Is it possible to subscribe to more than one online area? Will it be possible to get a complete set on download? Yes. We will have a plan for £12 per month, or £99 per year, to get unlimited downloads of all our timetable books. You can (soon) sign up for this at www.h2tdownloads.info or we can supply full details on request. Can I still keep an archive of your books? For those who wish to archive our books, you can select paper updates, then store the old pages, every month/two months depending on the area, in a separate ring binder or lever-arch folder. If you prefer, you can buy a new book as often as you like, and simply move the old one to your archive. Where the book shows Perpetual Edition on the spine and cover, you can add a removable sticky note or label, with the date in question. This is ideal if you often get swamped with new leaflets, and just want a book to use and refer to. Can I buy some more folders? / How can I buy an empty binder? You can order from one upwards (including all the fittings, like pockets etc. fitted to the main book), via Section 6 of our Catalogue, by telephone, or online. For quantities of empty folders, and in a variety of formats (including those we don’t use), speak to Celsur Plastics who supply us. They can be contacted by telephone on 01784 457175. Is there an option for a large print edition? We will provide a ring binder in A5 size, in a spine width to suit the amount of contents we expect. As an alternative, you can pay to have them sent to you in A4 size, for an additional extra charge to cover the costs and postage (these will only generally be sold direct). The cost will not simply differ, as the postage has to be large letter for A4 updates, and then we do have the 2kg weight jump that means we might go to a courier. If you’d like a book in A4, get in touch for a quote. Alternatively, I’ll be happy to print up to 20 sheets (per year/volume purchased) in a larger format on request, at no additional charge. When ordering online, why is the cheapest price sometimes shown? The online products often have more than one option, meaning we can serve you easier – whether you want one or the set. Simply drop the list down, until you can find the product / volume / update pack you want. If you are having difficulties online, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us. We can also take payments by telephone or by post. Here To There Newsletter 5

Page 35

Summer 2017

The rail timetables last time, added a lot of bulk? We also appreciate that the rail timetables get a mixed response. Therefore, we will have them in a loose-leaf plastic pocket, in the booklet/leaflet supplied by the train operators. This means we can add train timetables at less cost, and those who don’t want them, can remove them from their ring binder, or simply not purchase the relevant separate parts if it is not of interest to them.

What about colour maps, that are larger than A4? As our printer can do good colour A3 prints as well, we can use that facility too. For an A2 size map, we can print this double-sided on A3, i.e. split over two A3 sheets, to get the map the right size. The Atlas-style mapping will only be used in an emergency. Most town maps will be shown as A5.

With the download option, what happens – do you email me the relevant files? You will get an email from our Mailchimp account, which we use for our eNewsletter. You’ll be told what has changed, and given the link. After you login with your user ID and password, you can download the most recent files. You can login at any time to view the latest timetables, which you can view, download, or print at any time.

When I log in, I find a file link to an older version? Oops! E-mail or ring me, and I’ll get that resolved.

What do you post out, in each paper mailing? Each pack is different. In each, there will be an updated Index To Services/Page Checklist. Each sheet will be sent out in a cut, ready to use, format. We will normally punch these with holes to fit the folder (two holes for A5, four holes for A4), but you can request to have them unpunched, if you prefer. Introductory pages will be reissued, as and when things change. Timetables, Maps etc. will be sent to you for your folder as and when they are reissued, subject to licensing too!

Frequently Asked Questions How did you get started? Suzy has always had an interest in public transport, from using it to get everywhere in Dundee (her parents didn’t drive). Cut a long story short, and after doing some timetables, scheduling and marketing work for Tiger Line Buses, I started looking for new things. A regular over on the Anglia & Thames Valley Bus Forum had been complaining about the loss of the UK-wide long distance coach services guide, so Suzy mocked one up over a bank holiday in 2011, to much acclaim. Thus, the next holiday, the company was formed, and we have changed much since then!

I think I recognise you… didn’t you used to come in and fill up a carrier bag of timetables, then write to us with errors you found in our timetables? Yes – very probably – and hopefully you found it useful. If not, then feel free to buy one of ours, and let the vengeance begin! But seriously, it helps me as much as you.

Do you publish fiction? No. We publish bus timetables… (Insert a punchline of your choice here!)

Can you publish a timetable for our area? If the local authority does not, and you are within England, Scotland or Wales, there is a good chance we will get round to you in due course. If you know of any LA’s intending to drop publicity soon, then please do let us know, so we can investigate our options.

How is it possible to publish a timetable, when services change all the time? In most parts of the UK, the information has to be submitted to the Traffic Commissioner’s office with six/eight weeks notice (depending on the area). A summary of all this is shown online daily, and published weekly, which does help immensely. We have a certain inbuilt quality mechanism, whereby we will not knowingly add an old or incorrect timetable to one of our books. Here To There Newsletter 5

Page 37

Summer 2017

Will you post orders outside the UK? This is not a problem, but postage will be charged at cost. Simply drop us an email, or give us a ring. We will work out the most efficient and cost-effective options, and get back to you for your approval. We can then send you a PayPal Invoice (payable online) or you can give us a call and we can do the payment that way.

I’ve noticed errors on website timetables – is this something you know of? We don’t knowingly put a timetable in a book that is wrong, or has an error – we normally try and edit it, or recreate another. If you’ve spotted one we did not, then let me know.

How environmentally-friendly are your books? We print on demand, meaning no boxes of old timetables to pulp, or be remaindered. That, on its own, makes an immense saving. We generally print our own books on Xerox Performance (EU Ecolabel F1/11/002) or sometimes Cannon Yellow Label (EU Ecolabel F1/11/001) 80gsm paper, made in the EU. Occasionally, in emergencies, we will use paper from Sainsbury’s (PEFC Certified 75gsm/80gsm) or 5Star 75gsm/80gsm (FSC or PEFC Certified) made further afield. We believe our books are very environmentally friendly, especially when we print in A5. A typical 8 page leaflet, printed online to an A4 size, would use eight sheets of paper. As we print in A5, this means it’s only two sheets of paper. We can equally well print in A4, but double-sided generally saves half the sheets of paper count. Our ring binders are made in Surrey, using British materials. We formerly recycled our white paper when we were in Royston, although we do not have access to recycling bins at our premises in Welwyn Garden City. This is something that we find unsatisfactory, but we are doing our best to improve this situation.

Isn’t it more environmentally-friendly and economical, to print only the routes you need from the Internet? If you print a four-page timetable as four separate sheets of A4, you use four times the paper of an A5 leaflet (printed) – say nothing of all the bad copies and pages that don’t print, paper jams, that kind of thing… and some libraries charge 10p-15p a page for this. If you print more than one route, check out the cost of our books from £4.50 upwards – not forgetting you also have to get there and back (to the library), plus pay for any further routes you want later! Truly food for thought. Here To There Newsletter 5

Summer 2017

What is the difference between a Pocket Guide, a Quick Guide, and a Comprehensive Guide? The Pocket and Quick Guides are lightweight booklets, designed to get precise information in an easy-to-carry size. Pocket Guides are usually A5, while Quick Guides are A4. Pocket Guides usually can be up to 60 pages, and Quick Guides can be any size. Once they have been produced, they won’t normally be updated. When services change, we will issue another edition of the same booklet. The new version will feature a different colour cover, for easy identification. Comprehensive Guides give more detailed information, covering larger areas. For example, our London area CG will be five large ring binder volumes. These will be updated monthly or bi-monthly, allowing you to remain always up to date. In short, the Quick/Pocket Guides are ideal for a small area, or number of areas. Comprehensive Guides will offer much more detail, on a wide area, but are more bulky as a result.

Will you ever publish a book on (any subject other than transport)? Not normally, as I’d prefer to stick to what I know.

What’s with the multiple telephone numbers in different towns? As we have a voice-over-IP telephony system through Vonage, we can buy additional numbers, for just a few pounds a month. Our customers are a good proportion of elderly people, who are used to paying more for a long-distance call. And if it worked for Stagecoach in the 1980’s too, before the days of debit cards and online payments! Dundee is the area where we both grew up, London is an area where Suzy lived, and where we have a high proportion of sales, and Ely came with the call answering service we have from the town’s PA Answer, so it made sense to use it. More recently, some people get better rates to phone internationally than locally, so I added a US number when we set up the Vonage system. However, you may then wonder, why Rochester? Well, years ago when Suzy was single, she had a very good friend in Spencerport, near Rochester, NY State, USA. The fact we picked that for an international number, was a throwback thing to this.

Why the company name/Is the company called because you go from Here To There? When we set the company up, we went through our minds with various names, all of which already existed on Companies House. This meant that we had to keep thinking of names. Our last pick was TMI Publishing, but while the name was free in the UK, the domain names had gone to someone in Australia. At that point, we were fresh out of ideas. As anyone who knows us personally or via Facebook etc., we have a soft toy menagerie, from the days in Royston where we could not have a live pet in the flat we had before, but we still add new ones regularly, over 300 of them. Our pet names are part of this, and we have a puppet Mouse and Pusskins (Caroline and my pet names for each other). In addition to doing the mousey thing with fingers (non-sexual), Caroline does something similar, without squeaking and remaining silent, called Scamperer. She does this sign with her fingers when we ask “Where (have) you been today Scamperer?”, and she then does a north-to-south, east-to-west, which is followed up with saying “oh, you’ve been here, there and everywhere”. Then we looked at each other, and realised we had a very unique company name staring us in the eyes.

Public Transport Information In One Place – what does this mean/how did you come up with that? When we were in Royston, I joined a women-in-business group, that is now more better known as Business Babble. Jayne Bratton (always keen to help and highly recommended!) was keen for me to improve my “elevator pitch” and say things in a few words. One evening, she said “you do public transport information in one place”, and the idea stuck as an excellent tagline. We’ve subsequently adapted this for our other publications and websites too. Card Subject To Change ? Why, and where does this come from? Okies, back in 2015, Suzy discovered a wrestling promotion called Insane Championship Wrestling, or ICW for short. One of their more popular stables at the time, was a group called New Age Kliq. They would interject themselves into every situation (sometimes unwanted), often shouting “card subject to change”, Suzy initially reused a copy of their CSTC saying from a tee-shirt image for her wedding invites, as the initial plans were up in the air pending various formalities. Thereafter, Suzy has thought, more and more, that the logo can be useful as a cover-all – like when Suzy broke her arm the weekend after posting out Newsletter 3…

Terms & Conditions of Sale, Customer Charter, and Policies These pages set out what you can expect from us, and is updated from Monday 12th June 2017. 1. Contact Directory This can be found on the back cover of this guide. 2. Customer Charter E-mails, Tweets and Facebook group posts – during our opening days i.e. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays usually four days per week – subject to change) to be replied within 24 hours (usually 09.30 to 17.30). Outwith these times I will attempt to reply to emails within 48 hours. Where this is outwith this time, I will give a brief explanation and an apology for the delay. Telephone Calls – our landline numbers (see under Contact Directory) are answered on our behalf by PA Answer Ltd, Ely, Cambridgeshire. They are open seven days a week, with gaps on English bank holidays. They can assist you with new orders (including sales by credit/debit card), enquiries on our range, and more besides. Outside their normal opening hours, you will find a voicemail facility, and messages will be passed to me the next working day. Their staff are specially trained to help, and they will keep everything you say confidential, and personal details secure. Where they are unable to assist, or if you need to speak to me personally, they will send a message to me. I will then endeavour to return your call within two hours during our core opening times (as per above). At other times, I will attempt to call you within 24 hours. However, I am happy to try to call you as close to a convenient time for you, even outwith office hours. Letters & Orders by post – we pick up mail from our box downstairs around 10.30 on Mondays to Fridays (Tuesdays and Thursdays can be later if out), and around 10.00 Saturdays. The exact time may vary if our regular postie is off! We will attempt to reply to all questions and orders as soon as we can. Where we have an issue with your order, and there is a telephone number or email address that I can use, I will try and see clarification. Voicemails will be left if needed, unless you request us not to. We do not do calling on spec – we will only call in relation to an order. We aim to respond within 7 calendar days, wherever possible. Where this is outwith this time, I will give a brief explanation and an apology for the delay. Print on demand (all except Steven Knight) – the vast majority of our titles (except some of our really old back catalogue titles) we now print in house. We generally print these once a week – usually a Tuesday – and we will pack them up for despatch on a Wednesday morning. All mail generally goes out Royal Mail 2nd Class, unless otherwise requested or agreed (i.e. if it’s a very last minute thing, give us a ring first!)

N.B. The post office in Welwyn Garden City has been “temporarily” closed since October 2016, and is still closed However, we can still post items in a post box (or take larger items to the closest-by-bus post office in Knightsfield (Shoplands Parade), usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday each week). If you buy from our online shop, the BigCartel website will automatically send you an email to let you know, when it is on it’s way. Steven Knight books are fulfilled by the man himself. He keeps stock and will post to you as soon as possible, again by Royal Mail 2nd Class post.

Newsletter – we have two separate Newsletters – our e-News (free and occasionally), or Paper (quarterly). We charge £8 per year for four paper Newsletters, but you will get a discount on every order you place. If you’ve had enough of the e-News, there is an automated unsubscribe link on every email we send. We are happy to arrange for Newsletters to be sent in most other formats (such as extra large print, coloured paper, or more accessible formats), where we can do so. Access – Suzy is Typetalk trained, and would welcome calls via this method. We can also contact you via Typetalk on request, when we call you back. See www.typetalk.org if you need further information. Where we have failed - We will undertake an investigation into the facts and circumstances. We may need more information from you, and we’ll contact you back if that is the case. I will attempt to learn from any errors or mistakes, within the framework we work to, and in. Where we have done something wrong, I will explain what, why and what we will change, or do differently another time. An apology will take account of any shortages or inconvenience caused by our actions, or our lack thereof. Timetable data – while we do everything we can to make sure the timetables are up to date at the time of sending off to print, we are working in a playing field where things can change very quickly. We do get warning of most changes, but sometimes things happen, operators cease or change hands, or we get incorrect information. Sometimes one of the relevant stakeholders, like a local authority or a consultant, will input the wrong data. Let us know where you see something wrong, and we will ensure that this is corrected for next time, and fed back accordingly. While bus & train operators do everything they can to operate services as advertised & scheduled, circumstances beyond their control mean that they may not always succeed. No liability can be accepted for the use of our data, E&OE. 3. Delivery, Cancellation & Damaged Goods Policy

N.B. The post office in Welwyn Garden City has been “temporarily” closed since October 2016, and is still closed However, we can still post items in a post box (or take larger items to the closest-by-bus post office in Knightsfield (Shoplands Parade), usually on a Tuesday or Wednesday each week). We generally process most orders at least once a week. Our own titles are generally printed on Tuesdays, and despatched on a Wednesday. We print to order, thus reducing waste. Steven Knight Media send out their own titles. All our own titles are done in-house, unless otherwise advertised. Once the book gets to you, we have delivered the order that you requested. If a book order has been put through, the book is still printed, and we can then incur charges for your order. Bulk orders, and books customised, are generally non-returnable, although your Quotation will make this clear. Bulk Orders will incur cancellation charges where work has started for a customised edition. Trade orders are generally done on a sale-or-return basis, but your Invoice will confirm this. Our internally produced books are generally of good quality, and quickly checked before sending. If we’ve missed something, a page hasn’t come out, or you’re missing something, get in touch and we will be more than happy to rectify the defective pages. In the case of Steve Knight titles, he will pack and post book titles directly to you. Each book is quality checked by the printer, and Steve does check the books for any obvious signs of defect.

If there is damage or a problem with your copy – either from error or postal/courier damage – please let us know within three calendar days. This can be done by email, post, or by telephone. We will then investigate the matter, make our claims as needed, and replace your order accordingly. If your order has been duplicated - please let us know within three days. This can be done by email, post, or by telephone. We will then investigate the matter, and advise you what to do next. Please don’t do anything with the order in the meantime, but you will not be out of pocket where we, the postal service, or courier services, are at fault. If your order has arrived fine, with no damage or other problems, but you still wish to cancel, a handling fee will apply – typically 10% of the retail price of the book order (not including postage/packing or any agreed discounts), with a minimum cost of £5.00. You will also be liable for the cost of returning the goods to us, or to another location as decided by us. These will need to be insured and signed for. 4. Postage Policy Each item is now separately advised –many of our books are post-free, with those for others at a fixed postage rate. We are always happy to post internationally, for an additional fee proportionate to the difference of cost. We do not advertise foreign postage/courier rates, as when we need them, we would seek out the best price/service on a case-by-case basis. You are responsible for any customs/incoming mail charges from your local postal or courier services. 5. Privacy Policy As the majority of web transactions are done by PayPal, we do not store Credit Card or Debit Card details on our computer systems. Postal orders are fulfilled here. If you pay by cheque or postal order, a note is made of the cheque number, date and amount of the cheque, for standard accounting, and as a back-up in case of loss. If you pay by Card, your details will be destroyed securely after processing. Telephone orders are fulfilled by PA Answer Ltd of Ely, who will process on our behalf. Your details will be secure again, and destroyed securely after processing. We do not sell your details – financial or otherwise – to any groups for marketing. Your data is held securely by PA Answer Ltd (phone call answering), BigCartel Inc. (online e-commerce website), PayPal (card payments), Bracey’s Accountants Ltd (accountant, usually anonymous details), Steven Knight Media (so he can post your books to you) Royal Mail / couriers (address on mailing label, so they know where to deliver it), and they have their own privacy/confidential policies. We may pass a contract number to a courier, where we have to send your order this way, in case of problems with the delivery. Otherwise, we do NOT share your personal or payment details with anyone. You are our customer – not anyone else’s!

6. Legal Stuff While the transport operators featured in our publications do everything they can to provide services as scheduled (both here and in other publications), circumstances beyond our control mean that they may not always succeed. Errors & Omissions Excepted – if you see any, let us know via any methods in the Contact Directory on the back page of our current Catalogue. We are a Limited Company registered at Companies House in England & Wales, registration number 07755607. Registered address, owing to planning restrictions, is c/o HFL Accountants Ltd., HFL House, 1 Saxon Way, Melbourn, Cambs, SG8 6DN. Please do not send items or orders to our accountants, as we have to go get the items. Because of our turnover, and the fact books are zero-rated, we are not VAT registered. We reserve the right to clear cheques before despatch, or ask for cash up front for large orders. These methods are only used rarely when it is necessary for the continuity of the company. Insurance certificates are available on request. 7. Letters & Deliveries Letters to us can be delivered by post, courier, or by hand, to Apartment 4, 38-40 Stonehills, Welwyn Garden City, Herts, AL8 6PD. If delivering by hand, make sure the letter is in a wrapper or an envelope marked “Here To There/Apartment 4” or something similar, as this is a shared mailbox. Note this mailbox is located between Lloyds Bank sign and Wrights of Welwyn Garden City estate agents. Courier and postal deliveries are usually accommodated at least four days a week (see 2 above), unless by prior arrangement. Advance notice of bulky courier items is appreciated. We do have to leave the office during these times occasionally, usually for short-notice supplies or meetings. If this is the case, a sign will point you to the place for leaving these, which is Wright’s Estate Agency, next door to the right, at Number 36 (same postcode). One hour free parking is permitted in Stonehills during the day, with no restrictions outwith these times. A full leaflet with directions for those walking, bus, train or delivery can be had on request, or downloaded at www.suzyscott.com/directions.pdf We are not a retail store, but are happy to meet customers to hand over books if required, strictly by prior arrangement (as we don’t keep stock!). 8. Environment We print on demand, meaning no boxes of old timetables to pulp, or be remaindered. That, on it’s own, makes an immense saving. We generally print our own books on Cannon Yellow Label (EU Ecolabel F1/11/001) or Xerox Performance (EU Ecolabel F1/11/002) 80gsm paper, made in the EU.

Our Prepaid Mailing List Did you know, we have a Prepaid Mailing List? You can either preorder titles from a geographical area of your choice, from one book to a set, as they are produced. Alternatively, you can pre-pay and then order when you get our e-News or Newsletters. To start, send an email with your interest, and prepaid credit. You can do this by cheque, card or online, from £3 to £100 upwards. If you want to do this online, go direct to http://tinyurl.com/h2tprepay You can add more than one credit top up to your basket (i.e. £3 + £5 + £10 to make £18). A minimum top up of £3.00 applies, to allow us to cover admins and banking charges. Otherwise, there are no limits. This helps you and us, as it allows quicker ordering, and allows you to get the titles as soon as they arrive. Most of the time, you will get new titles on the day of release, sent out in the first mailout with pre-order customers.

New Customers to the Prepaid Mailing List will be given an additional 20% of your first prepaid top up, or £3.00, whichever is the higher. This will be added to your prepaid account balance, which you can request to order, add or withdraw at any time. Just ask if you need to know more!
