Many people in our community struggle through the winter months because they do not have enough heating or blankets to keep them warm. As a class, year level or whole school, you can help these people by creating some Blankets of Love… Here’s what to do: 1) Get people to donate 8 ply wool or acrylic in a variety of different colours; 2) Ask some parents, grandparents, teachers and people from the Parish to come and teach you how to knit; 3) Get together during lesson time or at lunch time and knit some brightly coloured 40cm x 40cm squares – you’ll need to work out how many stitches this is with the ply of wool you have. 4) With the assistance of some of the helpers, crochet/sew the squares together to form blankets for a single bed. After being collected, the blankets will be distributed people arriving new to South Australia. What a beautiful way to welcome people!
