Press release May 25 2010
CEOs pass the $500,000 mark … and there’s still three weeks to go!
Australia’s CEOs have already raised more than $500,000 towards the Vinnies 2010 CEO Sleepout to be held around the country on June 17. Almost 400 CEOs have registered so far to take part in the event to raise awareness about homelessness and funds for Matthew Talbot Homeless Services. In Sydney, where the event will be held at Luna Park, almost 130 CEOs have raised $250,000. “The enthusiasm and support for the Vinnies 2010 CEO Sleepout by our business leaders is a wonderful indictment of their sense of social justice,” the CEO of the St Vincent de Paul Society NSW, John Picot said today.” That so many have already risen to the challenge to sleep out in the cold in the middle of winter, in order to better understand the plight of the marginalised and disadvantaged is quite humbling”. Participants include leaders from media, real estate, law, accounting, transport, hospitality, pharmaceutical, mining, medical, financial, and sporting industries. Mr Picot called on all leaders of business to either register for the event or to sponsor their industry colleagues who were taking part.
