MEDIA RELEASE Vinnies Centres providing aid to all bushfire survivors across Victoria In the aftermath of the bushfires which have destroyed entire communities in Victoria, Vinnies Centres have called for bushfire survivors to come in to their closest Vinnies Centre to receive material aid. Vinnies Centres have been inundated with material aid from the Australian public wanting to help. Vinnies wants to ensure that this is passed on to survivors needing aid as quickly as possible. As bushfire survivors start to move out of the emergency accommodation areas and tent cities at the emergency staging posts, many people displaced by this tragedy will relocate to shared housing with family, friends and to housing services accommodation. Survivors may need non-perishable food, toiletries, clothing and other items. “There are 99 Vinnies Centres across Victoria, with 45 of these situated in the fire affected regions”, stated Jim Grealish, Victorian State President St Vincent de Paul Society. “All Victorian Vinnies Centres are stocked and equipped to supply bushfire survivors with goods to help them to start to recover from this disaster.” The St Vincent de Paul Society has been helping Victorian Communities for 155 years, and as always, is it in for the long-haul. To find your local Vinnies Centre, please call 1800 621 349.
