Vincentian Village celebrates Christmas with mass and house naming ceremony. St Vincent de Paul Aged Care & Community Services facility Vincentian Village will host a Christmas mass and naming ceremony on Wednesday 9 December. The celebratory mass will be conducted by Father Greg Bourke, and attended by Councillor Barbara Abley from the City of Greater Geelong Council, as well as representatives of St Vincent de Paul Aged Care & Community Services. Following the mass there will be a ‘house naming’. This will involve the three residential houses and activity area in Vincentian Village being given official names, chosen by the residents. “The residents have chosen names that have real meaning to them” said Vincentian Village Manager, Janelle Hodgson. “For example, the activity area will receive the name ‘Jack Dillon Central’, after a local man who was heavily involved with the St Vincent de Paul Society over many years and instrumental in the organisation’s work in aged care. He later went on to be a resident here, so our current residents were keen to pay tribute to him” she said. Vincentian Village was opened on 23 June 2008 in Hamlyn Heights, Geelong. This state of the art aged care facility is now home to 91 residents who were relocated from the previous two Geelong facilities, Rosalie House and Vincentian House, which serviced the local community for over 20 years.
