MEDIA RELEASE 14 May 2010
VINNIES BUSSELTON APPEALS FOR WINTER GOODS The Vinnies Retail Centre located at 20 Peel Terrace in Busselton, is appealing to the local community for donations of winter goods. Items of urgent need are: • Ladies winter jackets • Blankets • Pillows • Warm baby clothes Vinnies Busselton Manager Karen Iles says the demand for warm, winter clothing increases as the weather gets colder. “Last winter the Centre assisted over 200 people in need of some warm clothing and bedding for themselves and their family. We don’t want to see families having to go without this winter due to a lack of stock,” Karen says. The Vinnies Retail Centres are an integral part of every community, offering welfare assistance in the form of material goods for those in need. They also provide a cheaper shopping alternative for families on a budget and are a fashion outlet for customers looking to find something unique. Locals are encouraged to donate their pre-loved items by dropping them off at the shop, 20 Peel Terrace on Monday-Friday 8am-4pm and Saturday 8am-2pm. Pickups can be arranged by phoning 9752 4325. Individuals in need of emergency welfare assistance can phone the Society in Busselton on 9754 7048. The St Vincent de Paul Society is currently running the annual Winter Appeal with the aim of raising $600,000 in WA. This year’s theme “No one should have to know this” investigates the reality of homelessness and their stories of hardship, and how the disadvantaged survive on a daily basis.
