MEDIA RELEASE 7 April 2010
VINNIES MIDLAND DESPERATELY NEEDS YOUR HELP Volunteers in the Vinnies Retail Centres make a positive difference to their local community and help the St Vincent de Paul Society respond to needs identified in a practical way through welfare and other specialised assistance programs.
The Retail Centre in Midland is conveniently located at 285 Great Eastern Highway to provide a dignified and quality shopping experience with goods at great prices, however due to illness and other personal reasons, the Centre is desperately in need of more volunteers to ensure this work is able to continue.
Lucinda Ardagh, Media Spokesperson for the St Vincent de Paul Society WA says the Centre is struggling to remain open on certain days and has had to close its doors early some days due to being unable to secure volunteers.
“It is essential that we have enough volunteers rostered on each day so that we can continue to provide a safe environment for our volunteers and customers,” Lucinda says.
“The Society welcomes interested people of all backgrounds. Whether you are recently retired, a stay at home parent or a student with spare time on your hands there is an opportunity to get involved in Vinnies Midland and contribute to your local community,” Lucinda says
Vinnies Midland is one of the Society’s busiest Centres in WA, selling pre-loved goods such as clothing, books and bric-a-brac and also works closely with the Midland Conference to provide emergency relief assistance to people in need.
Enthusiastic persons will develop valuable retail experience and meet new people by assisting Vinnies Midland with customer service, sorting and pricing donated items as well as merchandising. If you are interested in becoming a part of the Vinnies team, please call Christine Ringrow on (08) 9475 5491 today. Vinnies provides retail and induction training to all volunteers.
