Clean Air Suit OPTIMAL MF864 OPTIMAL MF864 is a reusable clean air suit, intended to be worn by clinical staff during surgical procedures where high microbiological cleanliness is required. Clean air suit is used to minimize the dispersion of bacteria-carrying skin scales from the operating room staff to the surgical site and instruments. In combination with ventilation and correct working methods, the clean air suit helps to reduce the risk of the patient suffering from post-operative infections. Martinson’s OPTIMAL MF864 is made of microfibre fabric certified according to EN13795-2: 2019. Design according to Swedish standard SS8760164:2020, consisting of blouse, trousers and hood, intended to be worn together. Sewing technique and accessories are tested and carefully selected. OPTIMAL MF864 has performed several tests to estimate the dispersal of bacteria-carrying particles, defined as source strength*. The tests have been performed in a dispersal chamber at Chalmers university of technology in Gothenburg. According to Swedish technical specification TS39 the source strength for clean air suit shall be ≤1,5 CFU/s. The source strength of OPTIMAL MF864 is assessed at hip joint surgery to be 1,0 CFU/s after 2, 100 and 150 washing cycles. The tests are documented in the report ´People as a contamination source´ Performance in a dispersal chamber of OPTIMAL MF864 microfiber surgical clothing system laundred and dried twice, 100 times, and 150 times.
