Design tips

Remember to flip the graphic horizontally to see if it looks like an image on a mirror, and then make a cut. This will help you not make any mistakes that would lead to wastage of heat transfer vinyl. When placing the design on a cutting machine, ensure the shiny part faces down. This shiny material is the plastic which will peel off after the design has been ironed. In case of flocked heat transfer vinyl, the décor should be cut down to the desired size and then secured on the cutting machine with the help of a painter’s tape. Working from the roll can be difficult due to the curved end. Do not forget to test the design before putting it into the cutting machine to avoid ruining the entire vinyl. Doing a few cuts or a test will help you determine the needs of your blades; I they should be lower or higher with double cuts. A very sharp blade can cut the whole sheet, so, you may consider a kiss cut that targets the heat transfer vinyl only. Ensure that the shirt is turned inside out when pressing so that the back side is not left out.
