Meet Ron & Christina Rogers of The Backyard Factory Proud Providers of Ideal & Fun Home Playful Wonderlands You have been in business for how many years and how did you get started? The Backyard Factory started in 1996 with our first showroom at the Valley Oak Nursery in Brentwood, CA. We displayed six play sets outdoors on the side of the nursery in 2000 sq.ft. Through creative advertising, we were able to attract customers from as far as San Jose and beyond. A few of those San Jose customers would ask Ron “what do you do for a real job”? With this straw sun hat on and cell phone in hand he would reply “this is it”! After two years at Valley Oak, we moved to our first indoor showroom in Dublin. We currently have three showrooms- Danville, Santa Clara and Denver, CO. We are continually looking at other markets to expand in to- stay tuned. What are the various products you offer? What sets you apart from other retailers? In the beginning years of business, we offered only play sets. Not just any play sets, the highest quality play sets on the market. Eventually we added Goalrilla Basketbal Hoops and Springfree Trampolines to our product offerings. The Backyard Factory is now the 2nd largest U.S. retailer of Springfree Trampolines! SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE- that’s what sets us apart from other retailers. We have three beautiful
showrooms with several play sets, trampolines and basketball hoops- all for our customers to test out. In addition to the high quality products we display, we have knowledgeable staff that are experts in backyard fun AND we offer professional installation on all the products we sell. I can’t say the same experience would happen in a big box store- you can’t test a product out that is perched on a pallet rack 6’ in the air or touch and feel a product on a website. You are a true family business- tell us more about that: I have heard from many people over the last couple years (and as our website has improved) that The Backyard Factory is a franchise or a large national company. When it’s revealed that we are a family-owned and operated LOCAL business started by a man with over 25 years in the playground business, you see amazement on their faces. We are a true family business operating this business on a daily basis, working in our showrooms. We have three children- ages 14,12 and 9 who have literally grown up in our business. They have learned firsthand the dedication and perseverance that is needed to run and grow a business. Maybe one day our children will own and operate The Backyard Factory.
