Th e M ac hine Year: 2nd year, Spring 2012 Professor: Jungwoo Ji Timeline: 6 weeks Partners: Holly Pohlmeier The mission of the project was to create a machine that showed a natural phenomenon through human interaction. Using the natural phenomenon of human movement, the solution was creating a chair that displayed the subtleties of the movement in human skin. The subtleties were displayed through the use of make-up sponges that acted as skin for a chair. The sponges react to the movement of the person occupying the chair.

CCIOD M us e um Year: 4th year, Fall 2013 Professor: Gregory Palermo Timeline: 13 weeks After observing how connected Columbus is as a city, I chose a site that could take advantage of the adjacent landmarks such as Eliel Saarinen’s First Christian Church, I.M. Pei’s Library, and Henry Moore’s sculpture. The site location creates multiple access points for the museum, which stems a need for a continuous circulation system. The entry spine serves as an organizing principle for museum programs to branch off of. The museum organization assists to direct views and encourage movement among these landmarks, curating them into the museum.

Soh o Mic ro -A p artme nt s Year: 3rd year, Spring 2013 Professor: Rob Whitehead Timeline: 12 weeks A vacant lot in Soho is to be developed as a mixed-use project with retail and living units. With the shortage of single person housing in New York, there was an emphasis to provide more affordable, single-person units. Each unit contains a central pod or pods depending on the scale of the unit. These pods serve as the core for apartment services such as sleeping, bathrooms, kitchenettes, and closet space. The project was positioned to allow for an addition of open, green space for the residents and surrounding community to add more greenery to the Soho area.

Th e Urb an F o res t Year: 5th year, Fall 2014 Professor: Cal Lewis Timeline: 12 weeks Partners: Doug Elsarelli, Emily Hilgendorf, Aaron Oesterle The Downtown Project, the client for the semester, created the challenge of utilizing an existing site centrally located in downtown Las Vegas to create a community hub. The site also included an existing casino building, which was to remain on the site. The Urban Forest is to serve as a destination for community members and tourists to have serendipitous collisions and create relationships. Relationships between people build strong communities. The program centers around a central plaza space that encourages pedestrian activity and day-to-night use.

D r awin g Year: 4th year, Spring 2014 Study Abroad – Rome, Italy Professor: Gregory Palermo Timeline: 10 weeks The following drawings are a sample of the final drawings produced during my studies in Rome. The intent of the drawings was to show the thresholds in intimate passageways, such as the differences in light as you move through the multiple thresholds present in many of these passageways. Other goals in the exploration was to experiment with different mediums to represent the differences in light and texture in the spaces.

PHOTO GRAPHY Documenting architecture through photography has provided me the opportunity to look at architecture in a different perspective. Photographing architecture involves capturing form, light, and human motion at different scales. Looking at architecture through a photogrpahic lens has given me a greater appreciation for architecture and photography along with technical photographic skills.
