After concealing the eye, slick on some eye primer over the whole eye area, this will create the perfect oil free base for your eye shadow to cling to and will prevent creasing. With a large fluffy eye shadow brush apply the base colour to the whole eye area, this should be a nude tone close to your natural skin colour. With a crease brush apply a bronze shadow to the socket line (to locate, press with your finger to find the bit that dips in under your brow bone) then apply to the under eye close to the lash line.

ow that Spring is finally upon us, and we look forward to a summer of sun (fingers crossed). Why not make the most of the sun and take that well needed break wherever and whenever you can. Lounge in the garden, all by yourself or with a few friends,
with a refreshing cocktail in hand to wash away any woes or worries until the next day. Here are a few of our favorites to give you a bit of inspiration, and that little touch of temptation. Which you know you cannot resist.
First up is the ‘Tequila Sunrise’, an ever present on any cocktail menu. Especially since its reinvention in the 1970’s, and being helped by The Rolling Stones in the popularity charts as their preferred choice of drink in their 1972 tour.

PUPPY GROOMING Introduce Your Puppy to Grooming

rooming isn’t just for show dogs. Responsible pet ownership means keeping your dog clean and tidy as well as happy and healthy. Grooming sessions should also be a time to check your dog over for any potential problems. These can be anything, ranging from parasites, skin or ear problems, to more serious threats to your dog’s health, for example tumours. If you do find anything, especially lumps that you have not felt before, have them checked out by your vet. Early detection of some conditions may save your dog’s life. Grooming also gives you ‘quality time’ with your dog, the chance to bond and cement your relationship. Although grooming sessions should be enjoyable, your puppy should not see them as a game. It is up to us as responsible owners to teach our puppies the behaviour we want, in a way that they can understand and enjoy. Puppies cannot concentrate for long, so teaching and training sessions should be kept very short. Just enough time to
touch your puppy all over is sufficient at first. Grooming will be much easier if you use up some of his excess energy first with a short play session, putting the toys away and give him a couple of minutes to settle before beginning. With a small puppy you may find it easier if you hold him firmly but gently on your lap. At this stage the correct brush is not important, the object of the exercise is to teach him the correct behaviour. Groom him all over with a soft brush, touch his ears, feet, check his teeth etc. It is a good idea to get everybody in the family to do this. Once he is familiar with grooming and handling from the family, ask other people to do it for you; starting with people your puppy knows well and then people less familiar to him. Take care not
to overwhelm him and always supervise these sessions then, if he begins to look anxious, you can intervene. The more puppies are familiarised with being groomed, handled and restrained in this way, the less threatened they will feel. A puppy or dog that feels threatened is more likely to bite, particularly during a stressful situation such as an uncomfortable procedure at the vets. Rewarding your puppy’s good behaviour with tasty titbits, fuss and praise will ensure he learns not just to tolerate these sessions but also to enjoy them. Your puppy will need grooming more frequently when changing from puppy to adult coat, (usually from seven months onwards). This is especially important for non-shedding breeds such as the Bichon Frise, poodle, cockerpoo etc. If you are not extra vigilant at this stage the puppy coat will shed into the adult coat, causing it to matt and felt in a relatively short space of time. If this is allowed to happen, the coat will have to be completely shaved and allowed to re-grow.

S
howing your home to prospective purchasers can be stressful enough, but children add an extra dimension and their needs should also be considered. Moving house might be logical and exciting for an adult, but the fear of the unknown can be upsetting for children. That room or corner of the garden that has been their special place for most of the child’s life is about to be taken away from them, as they are
rocketed out of their comfort zone into unknown territory. After you have made the decision to move, child psychologists usually advise telling the children as soon as you can. They are certain to find out one way or another and being up front with them will enable you to manage the process better and stay in control. Parents nevertheless need to be sensitive when discussing
the move, and make a point of highlighting the exciting aspects of a new home. Ask your child what they would like to find in their ideal home. They don’t have to have a major influence on your decision, but their apparent involvement in the process will pay dividends. Likewise, if your children regard the move as a positive thing they are more likely to be co-operative when buyers come to view your property. A stress-related temper-tantrum as the buyer walks through your door is to be avoided at all costs! Indeed, no matter how sweet your children may be, they are more likely to be a distraction to a prospective buyer than an advantage. This is one of the many reasons why we always aim to accompany purchasers around our clients’ property. So our respectful advice is this: ideally, leave the viewing to the trained agent and take the children (and the dog) for a walk! Happy Selling! WHATS MORE IMPORTANT Your Income or Your Dog? by Mike Rimmer

e are well known for being a nation of pet lovers and I recently read in the Guardian that 23% of households have bought a pet insurance policy. I was however surprised to read that only 1 in 10 working-age families have any form of income protection in place. For many now it seems only natural to take out an insurance policy when buying a pet, new TV or mobile phone. How many of us though can honestly say we have considered protecting what is conceivably our greatest asset, our future income. In July 2104 Legal & General commissioned a survey which they titled “Deadline to the Breadline.” The survey looked at how long the average household could survive if the income coming into the household was to stop. Amazingly they found that the average household in
the North West of England could last just 23 days on their savings. Would you get help from the state? Yes, statutory sick pay is £87.55 per week and will pay you for up to 28 weeks. You may also be eligible for Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) however this would mean you completing a 57 page form and undergoing a work capability assessment. Even if you are successful you will only receive a maximum of £108.15 per week. To put this into perspective the Office of National Statistics estimated that the average UK household spend in 2013 was £517.30 per week. Protection providers would argue that Income protection is possibly the most important policy a working family could have. An income protection policy is there to maintain your cost of living if you were unable to work due to illness or injury.
With no income coming in most families would look at ways to cut back. The first things to go would be their life insurance, TV cover, pet protection then other luxuries. Income protection is designed to give a family time to adjust and take stock. It is the one protection policy that protects all of the others. Amazingly LV published that there average claim for income protection lasts 7 years. The Telegraph recently ran an article on pet protection which found it would cost around £15 per month to fully protect a healthy pet Labrador. A premium of just £20 per month could protect a non-smoking 28 year old female account and provide her with £1,425 per month for up to 33 years if he was unable to work due to accident or illness. There would only be a one month deferred period for the benefits to be paid. So please consider what you have, what is most important to you and what provisions you have made to protect it.

he Board Cafe Bar, on Station Road, opened on January 31, in the former Paprika building. The Board Cafe is the first venture from dad-of-two Dave McNair.

Dave, a former chef and IT worker, is also targeting commuters using the nearby train station and will be serving brunch, lunch and afternoon tea. The cafe will also offer breakfasts, health shakes, tray bakes and cakes made inhouse plus coffee roasted by Edgeley’s Coffee Circle. “At around 7.30am is the time Cheadle Hulme comes alive,” said Dave, 41, from Cheadle Hulme. “All the commuters head to the station and I hope we can get in on the passing trade.
“There aren’t many places round here where you can get a decent full English. We will be using locally sourced products from Pimlott the butchers and Waterhouse’s greengrocers. “There will be a blackboard displaying regular changing seasonal specials.” Dave, who has always lived in the area, says he jumped at the chance to open his own cafe. He added: “I was a chef many years ago and have always cooked at home and done catering. “A friend mentioned the unit was available and it has just snowballed from there.

ucia Davies is a children’s Entertainer from Stockport. She has been on the party circuit with families such as The Beckhams and the Rooneys, the Barlows and the Andre’s for over 25 years. After studying child psychology and physiology at Stockport College back in the 90’s she worked with children in

The Christian charity offers a large selection of secondhand furniture, household goods and computers at knockdown prices from its Meadow Mill address, on Water Street, Stockport. All the goods are refurbished items, or good as new, donated to the charity by members of the public. Renewal North West was started almost ten years ago as a computer renovation operation, in the roof-space of a church building. Then, after an initial move, it relocated to its current venue, selling second-hand white goods - fridges, freezers, washing machines - household goods, laptops, and renovating used furniture. The charity grew with the aim of helping long-term unemployed people break svponline.co.uk
down the barriers that prevent them from working, and provide furniture and household items to those struggling to set up home on a limited budget. It operates a community computers scheme that makes laptops and PCs available more cheaply to those on benefits. “We are supported by the Christian Church, at Brownwood Hall, Wythenshawe,” says technical manager Chris Bennett. Members of the church sit as trustees on the charity’s board. As well as the household goods, Renewal operates The Rinascente Gallery, a large showroom filled to the brim with vintage, hand-painted and industrial furniture. “It has opened up a different market,” says Chris. “It is aimed at people with more money to spend on something that’s unique.” The charity has been particularly successful in offering a line of bespoke
industrial tables”, says Chris. “And we have recently started getting into the gardening side of things,” says Chris. Customers can now order landscaping requirements from the charity. It operates an online shop, where customers can browse through the goods and order online. The Renewal operation is run by Wes Downs, general manager and trustee, along with a management team. Sometimes as many as 14 additional workers, who include volunteers and those on work placements, work on site. The store is open to the public and no referral is needed. America in Madrid, but they are not just the prerogative of top hotels and high-end residential projects. Used sparingly as a feature, more modest homes can experience the spectacular transformation of an ordinary space into something amazing.
In my job as an interior designer, I see the most conservative of men succumb to the magical qualities of crushed glass tiles that twinkle and glimmer. There is no better product to showcase the lengths to which artisans and designers will go to achieve this look than these crushed glass creations, made in Italy and used in the most glamorous interiors around the world. Recently they were incorporated in the design of the fourth floor of Hotel Puerta
The long time spent by the design team in developing this unique product has resulted in a wide variety of application possibilities. The tiles come in a multitude of colours to suit any interior and, when used for commercial projects, they can be matched to corporate colours and accommodate a company logo inside the crushed glass. The casing is made of extra clear glass and crushed glass elements are bonded inside of the case. The back of the tiles can be clear, or sand blasted for back lit situations, or mirrored to double the perceived depth of the crushed glass. This mirrored back option allows for LED side lighting to create a magnificent effect. The tiles can be used for walls, partitions, as decorative elements in furniture or as wall lights. They can also be reinforced for floors. Using just a few glass tiles in otherwise unassuming

floor will make it look sensational. When side or back lit, these tiles may be best left for a dance floor but in furniture or bar design it is practically “de rigueur”. Aside from the use of the product as tiles, the company can produce this crushed glass wonder in any size and shape. alk for St Ann’s Hospice – have fun and support local people too
St Ann’s Hospice is hoping to turn its popular Manchester Midnight Walk into the biggest and best yet. The charity has now opened entries for the 10 kilometre walk through the city centre on Friday, June 19 2015. Last year more than 2,000 walkers helped raise an impressive £270,000 for the second oldest hospice in the country. Many walkers have inspiring stories about how St Ann’s Hospice has touched their lives, especially those who have lost friends and relatives. Others join the charity’s flagship

fundraising event just for the fun of being part of the unique family atmosphere. This walk has raised more than £1.7m for St Ann’s since it began eight years ago. The hospice cares for more than 3,000 adults with life-limiting illnesses, their families and carers each year. The walk will once again set off from Manchester Central on the stroke of midnight, with the venue open from 9 pm for music and entertainment as part of a warm up. The route covers landmarks such as Manchester Cathedral, St Ann’s Square and Spinningfields. Jayne Bessant, Chief Executive at St Ann’s Hospice, said: “The Manchester Midnight Walk has a great tradition and each year
we’re amazed by the fantastic turnout. “We know that raising money isn’t easy but we need this support to carry on the running of St Ann’s Hospice. All our care is provided free of charge and I’d encourage anyone who wants to be part of this special occasion to come along and join us on what is always a fabulous and friendly night.” A special early bird registration fee of £15 is available for those signing up before 10th April, increasing to £20 afterwards. Jason from Cheadle Hulme wanted to update his kitchen with a more contemporary look from the existing pine coloured doors and heavily patterned granite. The split level worktops on the peninsular breakfast bar also limited the dining area. They decided to go with a full length breakfast bar & replace all the surfaces with Aleutian white quartz in 20mm for a more contemporary feel, whilst repainting all the doors light grey. The window sill, upstands and hob splash back were fitted in the same material. Cheshire Granite Worktops removed all the old kitchen & utility worktops, window sills, upstands and hob splash, fitting the new worktops in just 3 days.
