Among our many high-quality programs, we are very proud of the outstanding portfolio of instructional options available across our high schools.

Our many high school options include instructional focus academies in aerospace and engineering, biomedical sciences, business, energy, medical and biosciences, leadership, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics), and visual and performing arts. Other excellent instructional programs across St. Vrain include honors courses, Advanced Placement and AP Capstone™ courses, International Baccalaureate, CU Succeed Gold and Silver, P-TECH (Pathways in Technology Early College High School), our St. Vrain Virtual Online High School, LaunchED Virtual Academy, the Innovation Center, and the Career Elevation and Technology Center which offers eight high-quality Career and Technical Education programs.

RIGOROUS GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

St. Vrain’s graduation requirements consist of a three-pronged approach, designed to educate and prepare students to become well-rounded citizens who are prepared for success in the competitive global economy. Rigorous coursework and credit hours are a focus of St. Vrain’s graduation requirements. In order to graduate, students must complete the following three components before receiving a St. Vrain Valley Schools diploma:

ADVANCED GLOBAL INTERACTIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS (AGILE)

The new AGILE telecommunications program allows students in any of our high schools to receive synchronous (live), real-time instruction from another high school in the district, expanding learning opportunities for students to curate their education.

CONCURRENT ENROLLMENT

Available at all high schools, the Concurrent Enrollment program provides an opportunity for all high school students to earn both high school and college credit. PATHWAYS IN TECHNOLOGY EARLY COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL (P-TECH)

P-TECH is a new model of education connecting high school, college, and the world of work through college and industry partnerships. It is a model that allows students to earn a high school diploma, as well as an associate degree at no cost to the student. Students begin the program in ninth grade and can complete it in four to six years. At Skyline High, students earn an Associate of Applied Science in Computer Information Systems from Front Range Community College. At Frederick High, students earn their Associate of General Studies with a focus on Biochemistry through Aims Community College. At Silver Creek High, students earn an Associate of Applied Science in Cybersecurity from Front Range Community College. INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB)

The IB Diploma Programme at Niwot High School is an internationally recognized, comprehensive curriculum that leads to a high school diploma and a prestigious IB Diploma, recognized by selective and competitive colleges and universities around the world. IB course grades are weighted and when the program is successfully completed, the student earns between 24 and 40 college credit hours. IB graduates are guaranteed admission to all Colorado state colleges and universities. Students who graduate with an IB Diploma begin their college careers as sophomores and are positioned for academic scholarships.

SEAL OF BILITERACY

The Seal of Biliteracy is an award that will appear on a student’s official transcript to certify to colleges and employers that they have demonstrated proficiency in multiple languages. The Seal of Biliteracy is available to any St. Vrain senior who has studied and attained proficient or higher in English and at least one other language. In today’s competitive job market and our multicultural community, the ability to speak, read, and write in more than one language will set a student apart from the crowd. PATHWAYS TO TEACHING (P-TEACH)

The P-TEACH Program introduces St. Vrain high school students and classified staff to a career as an educator by offering a variety of concurrent enrollment courses. Students can earn up to 31 college credits through the University of Colorado Denver, as well as participate in a variety of enrichment activities such as field trips to the UC Denver School of Education and Human Development. CU SUCCEED GOLD AND SILVER

Erie High, Frederick High, Mead High, Longmont High, and Skyline High offer college courses through the CU Succeed Program. The program provides students with the opportunity to take college courses during high school hours while simultaneously earning college credits through the University of Colorado Denver. Students take a qualifying course at a weighted grade and receive college credit at a fraction of the cost of most college courses.

HONORS COURSES

Honors courses prepare students for the rigor of Advanced Placement courses by introducing the writing and critical thinking skills necessary for advanced coursework. Honors courses are available at all high schools, open to freshmen and sophomores, and receive a weighted grade.

CSU ONLINE PARTNERSHIP

The Colorado State University Concurrent Enrollment Program is an opportunity for students at Lyons Middle Senior High to complete challenging college courses and earn college credit while in high school. Courses are taught by CSU faculty online, and students interact with them during their school day through an online learning management system. A high school teacher is present during online coursework to assist with questions and to guide the class.

Join the Innovation Center Community

Do you want to learn how to fly drones, save endangered species, prevent the next cyber attack, or build your own robot? The Innovation Center has opportunities like this (and so much more) available to all St. Vrain high school students. Learning at the Innovation Center is different from that in a traditional classroom and provides students with authentic opportunities to apply their skills and knowledge to real-world challenges. In addition to rigorous extended learning and mentorship opportunities, students can also gain valuable experience through employment that focuses on designing and engineering technology solutions for industry and community partners.

CUTTING-EDGE PATHWAYS

• Students have access to eleven different divisions, focused on fast-growing career fields including aeronautics, artificial intelligence, bioscience, virtual and digital design, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, studio video production, information technologies, P-TEACH, robotics, and more.

• The Innovation Center offers over 50 courses aligned into pathways to postsecondary opportunities, with many offering concurrent enrollment and industry certifications.

• Recent courses include Ethical Hacking, Introduction to Artificial Intelligence, Pilot Ground School, Introduction to Game Design, Studio Film Production, Product Design, Applied Robotics, Intro to Augmented and Virtual Realities, 3D Modeling and Animation, and more.

WORK EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS

• Students can apply to work at the Innovation Center as a Student Designer on an Innovation Center Project Team.

• Project teams work on authentic tasks provided by real clients and with the support of industry mentors.

• Recent projects include building an RV-12 airplane, developing virtual reality applications, flying drones for realtors, training artificial intelligence systems, and conducting field research to restore an endangered fish species.

• In addition to many industry credential opportunities, students can also earn badges in industry-recognized skills.

• During the school day, transportation is offered at all St. Vrain high schools for students who are enrolled in a course at the Innovation Center.

• In the Innovation Center’s state-of-the-art 55,000 square foot facility, students have access to many advanced technologies and resources, including professional flight simulators, outdoor UAV runway, 3D printing lab, metal and wood fabrication shops, professional video production studio, podcasting booth, fish tank for underwater robotics testing, makerspace, robotics lab, cutting-edge bioscience research equipment, AR/VR technologies, and more.

Join the CETC Community

The Career Elevation and Technology Center (CETC) has been the preeminent provider of Career and Technical Education (CTE) in St. Vrain Valley Schools for over 50 years, and is one of eight CTE centers in the state of Colorado. CETC offers state-of-the-art career and technical education programs aligned with St. Vrain’s rigorous graduation requirements, as well as postsecondary and workforce readiness competencies. Students gain valuable technical and workplace skills in addition to having the opportunity to earn multiple industry recognized certifications.

FUTURE READY & CAREER READY

• Students have access to eight different pathways, focused on fast-growing career fields including advanced manufacturing, agricultural sciences, automotive technology, health sciences, interactive media technology, culinary arts, pre-law, and welding and fabrication technologies.

• The CETC provides students a seamless transition to advance their education or employment goals through concurrent enrollment options with multiple postsecondary partner institutions.

• Recent courses have included Introduction to Law, Veterinary Science, Basic Pharmacology, Introduction to Sports Medicine, Engine Performance, Baking and Pastry, Manufacturing Engineering, and more.

INDUSTRY CERTIFICATIONS

• Students have opportunities to participate in authentic work-based learning experiences such as job shadowing, clinical experiences, project teams, internships, and apprenticeships with local business and industry partners.

• The CETC offers over 35 industry credentials available across all pathways, including iCEV Veterinary Medical, Automotive Service Excellence Certifications, Fanuc Certified Robot Operator, Certified Nursing Assistant, First Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, ACE Personal Trainer, OSHA 30-hour General Industry Certification, multiple aerospace-level electronics certifications, ServeSafe Food Manager, Certified SolidWorks Associate, American Welding Society Certifications, and more.

• During the school day, transportation is offered at all St. Vrain high schools for students who are enrolled in a course at the Career Elevation and Technology Center.

• The Carer Elevation and Technology Center’s high-quality facilities include: a full restaurant and commercial kitchen; greenhouse and small animal farm; advanced manufacturing technologies, such as computer numeric controlled mills and lathes; over 25 welding booths and nine automotive bays with state-of-the-art tools, machines, and equipment; an operating ambulance; a sports medicine and training lab; and much more.

Home to an AP Capstone program and an Academy of Engineering and Aerospace, Erie High provides a comprehensive selection of rigorous and enriching core subjects, electives, athletics, journalism, visual and performing arts, and leadership programs.

• In the past several years, Erie High School has ranked in the top 20% of U.S. News and World Report’s Best Public High Schools in America.

• Erie High is home to St. Vrain’s only Academy of Engineering and Aerospace, a four-year program with the option for students to pursue an engineering or aerospace pathway.

• Erie High School offers College Board’s AP Capstone™ Diploma program, with many students earning significant college credit through AP courses, the CU Succeed program, or other concurrent enrollment opportunities.
