All around the globe the after hours shopping extravaganza, Fashion’s Night Out, celebrated it’s fourth glorious year. With stores in over 500 cities nationwide, FNO was bigger and better than ever. Of course, when presented with free booze, parties, celebs and great shopping, more than a few chose to head to the nearest FNO celebration. Here in Dallas retailers pulled out all the stops for Fashion’s Night Out on Sept. 6 with a jam-packed schedule of fashion shows, centers, retailers and boutiques in the city to create a one-night fashion extravaganza that celebrated Dallas’ international reputation as a world-class shopping destination. This year SWAGG Magazine was pleased to partner with Brahmin Handbags at Galleria Dallas to put on the HOTTEST FNO event event. It was so much fun to see who stopped by such as local celebs Lauren Przybyl from “GoodDay Fox 4”, Tara Harper from “Paws in the City” and “Bravos Most Eligible Dallas” and Holly Quartaro, fashion stylist at the Galleria Dallas. Everyone was taking a photo opp on the red capet, Dj D-Train was rockin the 1’s & 2’s as store manager Josh was workin it for the camera’s! Kendra Mcfarlane of MyGi’s Desserts made us an amazing cake incorporating both SWAGG Magazine and Brahmin’s FNO tote into the design of the cake! Luvs it! We had a blast! he new restaurant is scheduled to open at W Dallas on November 7th. Dallas’ Jones Baker is designing the restaurant interior with the vision of a modern interpretation of the chef’s hall. Imagine hanging out at your favorite chef’s house, sampling their latest creations. This is a hall for gathering, great food and drink, and socializing. New steel framed windows announce Cook Hall to the W Hotel Living Room. No longer hidden away, the restaurant is welcoming and inclusive. The mixologist inspired cocktails are casually announced on the blackboards along with special food offerings. To add to the personality of the bar, vintage cocktail paraphernalia will be displayed and used by the bartenders. Distressed wood walls, warm lighting and an eclectic art collection add to the warmth and charm of the concept.

The new Cook Hall restaurant bar program is under the direction of Belinda Chang (alum of New

York’s Monkey Bar and The Modern, as well as Charlie Trotter’s of Chicago).

They will feature vintage beer taps and serve boutique wines. Chang has also designed the craft cocktail movement’s answer to bottle service with a signature Cook Hall Cocktail Kit. The kit can be ordered for as few as two guests and as many as 10, and will include a spirit of the guest’s choice, with tinctures and mixers to develop unique custom cocktails tableside and a recipe card to take home.

The gastropub fare is composed mostly of shareable small plates such as a snack of roasted radish crostini, a light bite salad selection including a kale Caesar salad, various house- made charcuteries, and a sandwich/

The British are coming! The British are

coming! Yet again! It seems lately a new British act hits our airwaves almost each month, and with a cult following. With acts such as The Wanted, Cher Lloyd and, of course One Direction it seems right to say that the Brits are taking over the music scene. The ringleaders in this invasion are the UK X Factor boy band stereotype that this band has mastered with training from X Factor mentor Simon Cowell. With their hit single “What Makes You Beautiful” hitting the top of the billboard charts and their debut album “Up All Night” doing the same it seems this group will truly be around for quite a while. However, there is an alternative for those who are not into the squeaky clean image of One Direction in the form of The Wanted. They also hit America hard with their hit singles “Glad You Came” and newest song “Chasing The Sun”. This boy band has a party hard rep that shakes the stereotypical boy band image Now, don’t fret. There are some solo acts getting into the mix too! With her hit song “Want You Back” Cher Lloyd is turning

American girls into her “Bratz”. Lloyd’s fame rose from her link to One Direction. They were on the same season of The X Factor in the UK. Another One Direction connection that has come stateside is Olly Murs with his song “Heart Skips A Beat”. Murs has been on tour throughout the U.S. with One Direction as their opening act and has created quite the buzz Rebecca Ferguson has hit the the states with her soulful album entitled “Heaven”, featuring the single “Nothing’s Real But Love”. This soulful siren was also on the same season with One siren by the name of Ellie Goulding has been on the radio with heavy rotation of her single “Lights”. Goulding’s album of the same name is acclaimed to be a sound worth listening to. Finally, there is former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole with her Calvin Harris produced single “Call My Name”. Cole who was a member of UK girl group Girls Aloud went solo and released two albums in the UK with great reception and now has planned to take the U.S by storm with her third album “A Million Lights”. So is it safe to say the British are taking over the music scene. With more acts from the UK planning to come stateside in the future such as: The Saturdays, Labrinth, Sugababes, Roll Deep, JLS and more, looks like America might need to get familiar with some British slang.

am a huge fan of using all natural things and believe the majority of what we need has been graciously provided right outside our front doors. Nature is full of ingredients that have multiple purposes, not only for cooking and the inside of our bodies, but to help nourish our skin and hair as well. One of my favorite of these is raw organic coconut oil that can

It’s like they were so tired of having their stomachs punched by their team that they refused to do more than simply hope for a good performance. And the mundane showing by the crowd at Cowboys Stadium absolutely poured through the television screen and infected the vibe in the bar – as if 90,000 people were doing nothing more than sitting on their hands watching an episode of The Mob Doctor. Granted, the combination of abhorrent offensive play by both the Buccaneers and Cowboys, combined with the Keystone Kops-esque exploits of the replacement referees, produced one of the ugliest NFL games I’ve ever had the misfortune to lay eyes on, but I was still taken aback by the emotional void of this Sunday afternoon. Since their last Super Bowl victory in 1995, when Jerry Jones had his franchise on the top of the sports universe, this team has seemingly been in a race with the Clevelands and Jacksonvilles to see who can disappoint their fan base the most. Their current lofty status among the league’s elite teams is nothing but a hollow ruse, similar to Kim from The Real Housewives of Atlanta: all big, gaudy and shiny, and you can’t take your eyes off her, but take off the wig, push-up bra and make up, and you’re left with a talentless carcass. A quick look at the past seventeen seasons is a sobering exercise for Cowboys fans, and the likely reason for the “failure-is-imminent” attitude that exists today.

So, even though his team is constantly on national TV, endlessly being dissected on ESPN and selling out stadiums around the league, no amount of searching for Glory Holes or rapping about pizza can distract the fans from what this team has become: a lower tier performer. The team appears rudder-less at times and is aging rapidly before our eyes talented players – Tony Romo, DeMarco Murray and Dez Bryant – to be able to utilize the skills Cowboys fans keep insisting they have. (To be fair, I think Romo is actually criticized more harshly here in Dallas by Cowboys fans than anywhere else. There are about 20 teams that would trade their signal caller for Romo right now). Luckily for the team, fans and Jerry, there is still a lot of time remaining this season to get things on course to produce a successful season. But, if things remain the same, one has to wonder how resilient the fans will be after another 8-8 year and no playoffs?
