Rodriguez – Chapter Tresurer, Luis Jiménez – Chapter IB Representative, Jesus ***, Olmar López, Mickey Ray, and Hanna Rodríguez o SWANA National Representatives: Maxine Mcintosh, Lori Scozzafava, and Patsy *** o Others: Paul ** (OASIS), and ** (FL Chapter) Introduction on last year’s administrative work leading to the chapter’s latest accomplishment: becoming a regular chapter this past June, 2009. Status of Chapter’s website: SWANA National Representatives offered insight on building our chapter’s website. Options: o Hosted by SWANA - $50.00/mo. o Personalized hosting and management of the website through Google or Yahoo in order to offer board members e-mail accounts and other services provided. o Other ideas welcomed; should be up and running in the near future. Upcoming activities: o Chapter has been invited to attend CWWA’s (Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association) 2009 Conference to be held in Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, USVI during the 4th – 9th of October 2009. o Puerto Rico Technical visits to local landfills and/or MRF – TBD o Barbados Technical visit Visit to MRF and other waste management facilities Offer CEU-worthy Technical Session Chapter Meeting Propose for March 2010 - Unconfirmed Other issues: o Communication between Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands members was formerly presented as a concern. Inclusion of a representative member from each island in the executive board was presented. (e.g.: PR representative, USVI representative, etc.) The inclusion of a local representative may facilitate the communication between all chapter members. Discussed and understood stands the fact that any chapter member is eligible for nomination to a position in the board. o Chapter name change was presented in order to avoid any confusion and the incorporation of other islands of the Caribbean as members of a single chapter. Proposed as: SWANA – Caribbean Chapter.
