FERNALDO SIMANUNGKALIT

I pursued my study at the University of Diponegoro (Undip) in major Architecture, with a period of study for 3 years and 10 months. During my study, I learned a lot about Architecture in life. How to put up an idea, how to work it, and how to develop it. Not only taking all the classes that I had to take in my lecture, but I also participated in several architecture design competitions that taught me about teamwork and hard work. Additionally, I had strengthened my skills, in working with the software system for the design and social skills, during my study. I participated in a number of committees, organizations, seminars, and academic and nonacademic competions. Tarutung, August 30th 1998 Indonesia Jl. D I. Currently the city of Semarang is one of the cities with high tourism development. With this increase, the government of Semarang City is working in developing the tourism in new fields such as culinary tourism. Increasing the number of tourists visiting the city of Semarang inspires me to provide the design of lodging facilities in the city of Semarang. I also initiated adding Food Plaza building facilities as a culinary tourism facilities in the city of Semarang. These two building functions are connected in the world of Tourism and the building will combine in its architectural concept. The hotel provides 120 guest rooms with other facilities such as a swimming pool, restaurant, cafe and bar, and MICE facilities. The Food Plaza provides facilities such as private restaurants, food courts, and other facilities. This building can accommodate 1500 visitors at the same time.

The building is divided into some building masses and connected to each other. The design will give the new sensation of walking in a mall. There will be plants and ponds In the connecting pathway to give the forest-like atmosphere. The point is people can just stroll around the mall to relax and enjoy the forest-like atmosphere in this area.

This split zone is used to maximize natural light.

site zoning The empty area is utilized as much as possible as a water infiltration area in the form of passive and active water infiltration area.

The first phase, the building is built at the back of the site with a total area of 31.5 m2. Used as house and office.

Lumban Bulbul beach is a Toba lake tourism destination in Balige, North Sumatra. This coastal area offers a wide view of Toba Lake and Samosir Island which is the icon of Toba Lake. This white sand beach is getting more popular as tourism keeps growing.

One of the main problems that exist in this coastal area is there is no restroom or bathroom that is qualified as good for a growing tourism destination.

R a i n Wa t e r H a r ve s t i n g The rainwater that falls on the roof and then is forwarded to the area of absorption of water around the toilet that is stored in the ground tank. In calculations, the area of the roof is 9575,02 dm² and the amount of annual rainfall in Balige based on 2016 data is 12.30 dm/year. Then it can calculated: Stored rainwater volume = The area of the roof x the amount of rainwater = 9575,02 dm² x 12,30 dm = 117.772,7 liter/ year Assuming, only 80% of the water can be stored. 117.772,7 x 80% = 94.218,2 Liter/year

TELKOMSEL OFFICE A working place to be productive and fun 3rd Architecture Studio | Universitas Diponegoro Supervisor

Masyiana Arifa, S. T., M. Arch

Typology Location Site area Building height

Office Gajahmungkur, Semarang, Central Java 2000 m2 5 Floors

Office is a place to work, be productive, and socialize. Office is close to the meaning of a solid place, computer, room divider, working table. In that definition office is not a place to be productive or creative. It becomes a place to kill productivity and creativity. It becomes a place to do the same things over and over. But on the contrary, the office should have a cheerful, bright, socializing atmosphere. In this way, workers will be more creative at work. The office is no longer a place of depression, but a place for creativity and productivity. The idea of this design is to create an office, which the building itself gives a positive atmosphere to the employees and the visitors. Providing fun stuff in the building to arouse enthusiasm for work such as cafe that opens for the employees and the visitors, game room, and creating a bright open working room.

The facade is designed with the concept of modernity and contextuality. The material that is used for the facade is bare white concrete to gives a little bit urban accent. Local stones are combined in the facade to give the contextual atmosphere. Due to the glass wall in the facade, double skin facade is needed to reduce the direct sunlight entering the building. This double facade is a lined shape and covers all the glass wall. This lined shape facade gives a kind of attraction in the building with the shadows that move together with the sun movement.

Placemaking is a concept to create a space with a new atmosphere in an existing space to provide an interaction between users and space in forming new emotions. Placemaking provides a space experience so that users can feel an increasingly emotional transition to new, more positive emotions. This change in atmosphere can be felt from every space created.

House is a major human need. Construction of dwellings damage to the Earth’s environment. Therefore, the idea of eco-architecture emerged, especially in residential matters.
