IMPROVING EXMOUTH Swan is committed to constantly improving the services we offer. Exmouth has recently benefited from some of these improvements and there are more planned improvements coming soon.
Swan’s Neighbourhood Team will regularly meet with Parkguard to make sure their patrols visit the areas where residents have concerns about anti-social behaviour (ASB).
We have recently upgraded the security systems on the Exmouth estate. The upgraded CCTV system provides a wider coverage and better-quality images of the estate.
If you have any concerns about ASB in your area please report it to the Police on 101 or speak to your Neighbourhood Officer on 0300 303 250.
We have upgraded the key fob entry systems.Your new key fobs offer greater protection against cloning and Swan is now able to re-programme them in-house and remotely deactivate any that have been lost or stolen, helping you feel safer in your home.

IMPROVING EXMOUTH Continued from page 1 During the Summer, Axis will be reviewing all the communal entrance doors and gates along with the main door entry systems. The survey will evaluate their condition and highlight any repair or renewal work that may be required. This will then be put into a planned programme of works. Any urgent repairs identified will be given immediate attention.
These works have also recently been started or completed:
We will be upgrading the electric and lighting systems in the Brayford Square area in the coming months.
•
Jet washing the paved areas and staircases – this work will continue throughout the estate over the summer months
•
Painting railings and service / bin room doors
•
Replanting the wooden planters and flowerbeds
Swan are always keen to hear your suggestions on how we can improve your estate. Please email estateservicesmanagement@swan.org.uk with your ideas.
KEEPING YOUR GREEN SPACE SAFE AND TIDY
During the warmer months many people enjoy spending time in their gardens and on their balconies. Residents sometimes say that they can’t enjoy their garden because their neighbour’s garden is overgrown. We would like to remind you that you are responsible for keeping your garden tidy, if you don’t you could be in breach of your tenancy agreement. Many of the balconies on Exmouth have overhanging balcony plant boxes that provide a lovely splash of colour to the estate in summer months. We are aware that some of these are damaged or broken so, if your plant box is broken or damaged please report this to Axis as it could cause a serious injury to someone if it fell. Exmouth Estate | Newsletter - Summer 2019
The communal gardens and green space on Exmouth are maintained by Natural Elements UK (NEUK). Swan do monitor NEUK but, if you notice something that needs maintaining, please do give us a call so that we can make sure something is done about it. If your window box needs repairing please report it to Axis on 0800 783 2768 or email londonneighbourhood@swan. org.uk If you need some help with your garden or wish to give us feedback on NEUK please call your Neighbourhood Officer on 0300 303 2500

FIRE SAFETY Swan takes your safety seriously. We would like to remind you about these key fire safety guidelines.
• Keep all communal areas including corridors and landings clear. Items stored in these areas could slow your escape if a fire broke out.
If you have a fire in your home you must leave immediately and close the front door. Call the fire brigade on 999.
• Never use your balcony space to cook on a barbecue or to store large or inflammable items.
You should only leave immediately if smoke or heat affects your home or if you are told to by the fire service.
• Do not fit seasonal outdoor lights on balconies or outside spaces.
You can find more fire safety advice displayed on the noticeboards in your block. If you have any concerns or questions about fire safety please call your Neighbourhood Officer on 0300 303 2500
If there is a fire in another part of your block • Make sure you always put your rubbish in call the fire service and let them know the correct bin areas. where you are so they can find you.
• Swan strongly advises against the use of candles. • Test your smoke alarm regularly and report any problems immediately to Axis on 0800 783 2768 or by e-mail at swan residents@axiseurope.com
A LOAD OF OLD RUBBISH?
Swan’s Estate Services Team work hard to make sure the Exmouth estate remains tidy. Recently they have cleared away a lot of rubbish that has been dumped on the estate. The cost of rubbish removal by the Estate Services team is paid for by residents through your Service Charge so, if you see anyone dumping rubbish on the estate, please report it to your Neighbourhood Officer. If you need to get rid of old furniture or a lot of rubbish please contact the London Borough Tower Hamlet’s Streetline Team on 020 7364 5000 to arrange a free collection of up to five items. Households are allowed two free collections a year. Exmouth Estate | Newsletter - Summer 2019

SUMMER CONVERSATIONS
We were out on your estate on 31 July carrying out our Summer Conversations event. We spoke to over 60 households, gathering thoughts and opinions on our services and will be analysing the responses and feeding back the results. It has been reassuring to know that a high proportion of the residents we spoke to feel respected by Swan and are satisfied with our services. Keep your eye out for more detailed feedback in the future. Thank you to everyone who took part.
GET FIT FOR FREE!
Following the conversations held with residents last year, we are progressing with arrangements for the installation of a brand new outdoor gym. This will be installed in September. Residents will be able to use the equipment at any time to increase their fitness and tone up and it’s all free! When it is installed Swan will have a Community Activator available to demonstrate how to use the gym equipment safely and get the best results.
