Remembrance Sunday
Local Historian, Ken Porter, commented; “I would like to thank Swan Housing Association on behalf of the residents of Laindon and district for not only relocating our war memorial, albeit temporarily, but also for designing and placing a banner on the hoarding of the development site next to the memorial, listing those that lost their lives in the two wars from the local area.

LIKE LAINDON There are loads of things that are great about living in Laindon. The Laindon Place scheme will make it an even better place to live, socialise and work. Here’s some things to like about Laindon: 1. Laindon is well connected – it only takes three minutes to get to Basildon, 21 minutes to reach Southend and 32 minutes to get to central London, by train. 2. Being so close to London puts world-class shopping, leisure, culture and dining only a short train journey away. 3. Located close to Basildon - the second largest economy in the Thames Gateway after Canary Wharf - as well as central London, there are lots of job opportunities nearby. 4. Some of the jewels of the Essex countryside are only a short distance away, such as popular Thorndon Country Park. 5. The Laindon Place scheme will transform the town centre. There will be a brand new high street, with shops, parking, a new Lidl supermarket and an expanded health centre. 6. Under the scheme, 224 contemporary flats and houses are available to purchase through private sale or shared ownership. A great way to get on the property ladder!
CHRISTMAS CHEER FOR 50 ELDERLY LAINDON RESIDENTS Swan Housing Association helped make the festive season special for 50 elderly Laindon residents by hosting a three-course Christmas dinner at the King Edward Community Centre on Thursday 19 December. The celebration included musical entertainment by Laindon Residents Choir, a prize raffle and a gift for everyone who attended.
