Keeping retail at Laindon: temporary shops are now OPEN! Swan have been clear about our commitment to keeping Laindon open for business during the regeneration which will build a new high street for the community.
You may have seen the temporary units for Well Pharmacy, Lloyds Pharmacy and Templeman Opticians being set up next to the Laindon Health Centre over the last few weeks. We are thrilled that these shops are now OPEN TO THE PUBLIC!

The shops will be open from: Well Pharmacy Monday to Friday – 8am to 6pm Saturday – 9am to 1pm Sunday and Bank Holidays – Closed Lloyds Pharmacy Monday to Friday – 9am to 6pm Saturday – 9am to 5:30pm Sunday and Bank Holidays – Closed Templeman Opticians Monday to Friday – 9am to 5pm Saturday – 9am to 4pm Sunday and Bank Holidays – Closed
We are pleased to be able to continue these essential service for residents while we move forward with the development of your new Laindon Place! Post Office closure
This branch will close on 2 April at 5.30pm. Laindon Post Office will temporarily close from Tuesday 2 April 2019. Swan will continue to work closely with the Post Office, Basildon Borough Council and Essex County Council to find a long term solution for residents in Laindon, and every effort is being made to re-establish services in the interim period.

The Footbridge over the High Road has now been demolished. The footbridge demolition is a major milestone in the regeneration programme. We would like to thank residents surrounding the centre for their patience, co-operation and apologise for any disruptions these works may have caused. Laindon Place | Newsletter - April 2019

Works update: What to expect in the coming months With the recent demolition of the footbridge and works continuing by the Health Centre, Swan are pleased to be on track to deliver the first Phase of Laindon place in Autumn 2020 including six new retail units.
In the coming months we have the following works planned: •
Soft strip works are ongoing in the vacant shops in the centre. This will be completed once the last few tenants have left, then demolition of the main centre can commence. We expect the demolition of the entire centre to take around 10-12 weeks.

Enabling works have started at the Landmark site on Burdock Drive with the construction of the new homes due to commence within the next month.

Hoarding around the site is now 90% completed, with the remainder to be completed once the Post Office vacate their unit. The War Memorial has been protected while still allowing public access from the High Road.

Phase 1b works are progressing well with Pile Caps being installed.
