Sally Morris Editor-in-chief Welcome to the Spellbound Enchanted Realms September Issue! It’s great to have you here for the beginning of the autumn season. As September heralds the arrival of the autumn season, a truly magical atmosphere begins to unfold, creating the perfect ambiance for fairy tales and fantasy stories to come alive. The crisp, invigorating air, the golden hues of falling leaves, and the gradually earlier sunsets all combine to create an enchanting backdrop that seems to whisper of hidden wonders and mystical adventures. This autumnal magic aligns beautifully with the transformative journeys often found in these captivating tales, mirroring nature’s own dramatic shift from the lush greens of summer to the warm, rich hues of fall. The misty forests that characterize this time of year become ideal settings for magical encounters, their fog-shrouded trees concealing secrets and possibilities. Meanwhile, the bountiful harvest season brings its own array of fantastical elements, from pumpkin patches that could hide fairy circles to apple orchards that might harbour wise, talking trees. As the days grow shorter, the longer nights invite cosy storytelling sessions, perfect for sharing tales of dragons, witches, and heroic quests by the flickering light of a warm fireplace. September holds a special significance in the realm of fantasy literature, marking not only the birthday of Tolkien’s beloved hobbits but also the commencement of many fall reading programs in schools and libraries. This season seems to beckon readers to curl up with good books, wrapped in soft blankets, and fully embrace the world of fantasy. The cooler weather and earlier evenings provide the ideal conditions for losing oneself in magical realms and epic adventures. For the creatively inclined, autumn is the perfect time to start a fantasy writing project, letting the season’s atmosphere inspire new worlds and characters. Alternatively, hosting a themed movie night featuring beloved fantasy films can transport you and your friends to enchanting realms without leaving the comfort of your home.
