That festive, summer feeling Our community plays host to many cultural celebrations which stand as a source of local pride, if you knew nothing of the people of Moseley and Kings Heath you could find out everything about us at these wonderful events. Next on the agenda is Moseley Folk Festvival in the beautiful setting of Moseley Private Park, and the Middle Earth Festival (formerly Tolkien Weekend) which is very fittingly held at Sarehole Mill, once a place of great inspiration for author Tolkien.

Headlining Moseley Folk this year are The Levellers, The Coral and The Proclaimers, huge acts that are sure to bring something very special to the weekend. Over at Middle Earth Festival you’re encouraged to come in ‘Tolkien’s world’ themed fancy dress, battle orcs and watch exciting reenactments. It’s easy to get caught up in the lineup at this festival and the activities at that festival but what really makes it so worth getting involved is seeing our community in such good spirits, and being a part of a unique little culture. So here’s what to expect from the neighbourhood at Moseley Folk and Middle Earth Festival...

Don’t you love finding a mirror that flatters you? Well you could feel like that in every mirror by harnessing the power of beautiful lighting.

Natural light trumps every kind of light source, but when you’re mainly at home during evenings and weekends or have a house facing awkwardly for the sun’s cycle it can be hard to come by. Here are some ideas to help you solve the problem...

Living Room & Bedroom Cosy, ambient lighting is best suited to these rooms as it sets the mood for relaxation. This is achieved chiefly through downward facing lighting and buying the right bulbs - ‘colour temparature’ needs to be as warm as possible. You should avoid using the central pendant lamp as a main light source as it casts a dull and bland light across the room. If it’s an open airy feel you desire then you should cast bright light on the ceiling. Spotlights are great for cosy accent lighting but the effect will be entirely lost if you have high ceilings, in which case you can use clip on spot lights across the tops of bookcases or shelves. Lastly, lighting up all four corners of the room will give the illusion of added space.

Bathroom & Kitchen Don’t bother with busy window dressing, an opaque window decal will be plenty to ensure your privacy and maximum light. Soft downlighters are a bathroom’s best friend, especially if you’re looking for that flattering effect in the mirror. The harsh central

pendant needs to be fitted with a dimmer switch, and lights hooked up to different switches will afford you the luxury of creating different ‘moods’. A neat trick for adjusting the focal point of your kitchen is putting a longer cord on your pendant light and hooking it to the ceiling in a new place, as shown in the photo above. So if you’re suffering from headaches, sore eyes or even a case of the blues you ought to consider the benefits of lighting your house differently. Who knows... you may even conjure up new realms of your home that have been lost in the shadows for years! Written by Ruby Watson 11

In response to increasing instances of unscrupulous behaviour on behalf of other emergency roofing providers, Adam Askey is launching its new ethical ‘Emergency Roofing Service’. Adam Askey has provided roofing services to home owners across the Midlands for over 40 years. It is one of the most successful roofing companies in the UK and has a consistently high satisfaction rating. “We hear some shocking stories about outrageous prices being charged for so-called ‘emergency roofing’,” says Steve Dickson, Head of Sales at Adam Askey. “When our Emergency Roofing Service is called out, we only charge an emergency rate for the time it takes us to make the roof safe and watertight. We then arrange for our regular expert repair team to return and repair the roof fully, at our standard hourly rate. I believe our new ethical ‘Emergency Roofing Service’ will set new service standards.” Call 0121 705 4242 or visit adamaskey.co.uk for more information. 14

Changing perceptions one face at a time In an era of big brands and flashy licences, the sense of real craftsmanship is eroding. Spectacle Emporium, the new optical boutique that opened next door to Kings Heath Library in November 2015, desires to bring back that authentic feel of a well-made pair of glasses, “We aim to change peoples’ perception on luxury eyewear,” explains Janan the director.

By introducing materials and styles not normally associated with common high street eyewear, Spectacle Emporium are certainly making a Bohemian message that resonates impeccably well with the Moseley and Kings Heath communities. Later this year, the store promises to introduce handmade spectacles made from exotic materials. It will be one of the first in the world to stock Campbell Marson wooden eyewear of the highest quality, and one of the first in the UK to introduce a tactile experience with stone and leather. “We want everyone to be expressive and unique, and there isn’t a better starting point than what you adorn your eyes with,” Janan explains, “take Gwen Stefani’s ‘Sweet Escape’ album cover – she chose a vintage Cazal model that exudes confidence in her sensuality with undeniable glamour. She’s not alone in wanting to be different!”

The quaint store is full of surprises and rather homely. The advice starts from a genuine passion for eyewear, whilst the journey is made pleasant with a knowledgeable voice that guides you through the process of whittling down that larger selection of eye candy to something more… manageable! Special Offer time: Name the album cover pictured above by Gwen Stefani and you will receive £50 off all handmade and designer eyewear at Spectacle Emporium! Offer excludes frames on sale and the Zoobug collection.

New beginnings at

The Blue Coat School In the academic calendar September brings with it a time of new beginnings, a time to dust down the school bag, name new uniform and prepare for the first day of term, or for many, even the very first day at school or nursery.

For The Blue Coat School, even after nearly 300 years, there are new beginnings too! This Autumn Term will see a new Head in charge as Mr Noel Neeson (40) moves up from St. Peter’s Prep School in Lympstone, Devon, as successor to Mr Alan Browning who is retiring after 34 years at Blue Coat, and a headship spanning some 18 years. Mr Neeson who has been described as a ‘forward thinker, man of faith and passionate about his pupils’ welfare and progress’, was the youngest Head in the country at the age of 28, and brings with him an exciting energy and innovation for curriculum development which has generated interest in schools around the country. Married to Juliet, herself a former Assistant Head, the Neesons have two children Bea (8) and Jasper (3) who will also be joining Blue Coat.

Mr Neeson comments, “I feel privileged to be the successor to Alan Browning, who has clearly done an outstanding job. I want to make Blue Coat a national leader in terms of high academic performance; a leading light in educational development with the children at the core of all we do. Three years in the maintained sector and seven in an independent school have probably mellowed me. They have undoubtedly provided me with the experience which will be invaluable in leading The Blue Coat School into and through its next chapter.” 0121 410 6807 thebluecoatschool.com admissions@thebluecoatschool.com @bcsbirmingham Somerset Rd, Birmingham, B17 0HR 17

Glynn Purnell Top chef cuisine This Chelmsley Wood Blues man at heart, cares as much about encouraging young people as he does about the appearance, texture and flavour of one of his recipes.

Glynn is one of the UK’s finest chefs at the top of his game. He has Purnell’s Michelin starred restaurant, Purnell’s Bistro and Gingers Bar in Birmingham and has published his own cook book memorably titled “Cracking Yolks and Pigs Tales”, full of delicious recipes. Birmingham Soup is one - hinting at his roots. “Did you want to become a chef from an early age?” I asked him. “Yes. From day one. It was going down the Birmingham markets with my dad and seeing all these unusual vegetables. We always went to this one butcher to order the meat from and he would give us 4 or 5 pigs’ trotters. My mum would braise them in the pressure cooker and by the time they were cooked, Blind Date was starting, so I would sit down in my pyjamas, with a little plate and on it a pig’s trotter and a packet of plain crisps”. The story of Glynn’s career to date began (not by design) at The Metropole Hotel at the NEC. Glynn gives credit to two people at the Metropole who encouraged and supported him through his apprenticeship: Tony Morrin, then the head chef of the restaurant and Mark Hill, the sous chef. They must now look at Glynn’s Michelin Star success and feel a sense of pride at the ‘leg-up’ they gave the youngster. Many of his Metropole work friends were from Knowle and Dorridge and he’d socialise with them at The Mason’s Arms. He went to Solihull College for a course on his day release. He’d learn all the practical stuff and then when the theory got dull… “I’d naff off and go get a couple of pints at the Mason’s Arms and catch the 71 bus back to Chelmsley Wood - and that’d be my day off!” >> 24

Glynn feels passionate about getting a message to students making their career choices… “don’t allow yourself to be pushed into a box. If you’re naturally creative, give 100% in academics but then give 100% too, to using your talent. Anyone can be a success if they remain positive and determined with the right attitude. “Set-backs are part of life… create your recipe, research the necessary ingredients and make it happen.” Written by Julia Parsons Glynn’s book “Cracking Yolks and Pig Tales” is available for £12.00 from Amazon and other book-sellers. Happy Birthday Hazelwell This year Hazelwell Church celebrated its 100th birthday with a vintage summer fayre.

This lively church has its roots in mission, starting out as a mission hall sponsored by All Saints Church in Kings Heath. It then became a Church of England ‘Parish Church’, known as St Mary Magdalen Church, thanks to three local churches giving up some of their parishes. It is now in partnership with the former Hazelwell Methodist Church and the joint church is simply called ‘Hazelwell Church’. The main service is at 10.00 am every Sunday.

WHERE WERE YOU 10 YEARS AGO?

...we were just beginning We’re in double figures now, so we’re kind of a big deal! But in all sincerity, we are truly very lucky to still be chugging along, and we want to thank the many wonderful local businesses who have supported our growth, plus our readers who we endeavour to both entertain and represent in our pages. From humble beginnings to four local magazines in south Birmingham and Solihull packed full of news, stories, events and competitions, we have grown more than we imagined we could in a decade. Each year has seen another big shift in what we do, from launching magazines in new areas to getting connected with you all online and welcoming new members to our team. In 2014 our newest edition My Solihull won ‘best new magazine’ at the annual magazine publishers’ awards making us all very proud. Ten years have flown by, so here are some reminders of what was going on the year we launched our first magazine to help put it into perspective...

• Facebook was launched to the world • Twitter went live for the first time • Everyone was still desperately trying to fit their whole text message into 160 characters • Pluto lost its right to be called a planet • Borat was unleashed on unwitting cinema goers

• Crocs took the footwear world by storm • Buying CD singles with a strange remix version on it was a cool activity • And you could get a flip phone at Woolworths for less than twenty quid! So as you can see it was an eventful year, and we’re proud to be among the weird and wonderful things that were born in 2006. On a local level it has been inspiring to see independent businesses weather the recession and come out stronger than ever, so here’s to another decade full of success and (pleasant) surprises. We wish all the best for our community and beyond. Tell us what you'd like to see in future issues on Facebook and Twitter.

Gin at lunchtime such fun! Having enjoyed many a drink at The Station Pub over the years it was with great pleasure that I went along with a friend one sunny lunchtime to see for myself how it’s looking now.

This delightful Kings Heath pub has undergone a recent refurb which gave us the perfect excuse to sneak out of the office at lunchtime to sample their wares. And I must say we were not disappointed. The place is looking great, with quirky wallpaper, mounted stags heads and even a mounted T-rex head for a bit of fun. Out back they have a new bar and bbq which they open on sunny days - that’s every day surely! The new manager of the place has brought with her a breath of fresh air, all the way from France and Holland where she learned the tricks of the trade. Chantal has big plans to make the place a little bit more arty, bohemian, sociable and fun. She has already been running comedy nights with comedy classes, jazz Sundays, live music Thursdays, open mic night and your good old fashioned quiz night. Another addition to the place is their gin menu with four exciting gin concoctions to choose from. Guess what I had to drink! And to accompany our gin we had starters of oriental fishcakes with a sweet chilli sauce and Asian shredded duck salad with honey and soy dressing. The food is prepared lovingly by the chef and was absolutely delicious. For main course we were delighted with our indulgent choice of slow cooked beef lasagne and the Cajun chicken burger. Yum. Why you should never die without a will Prince distrusted lawyers so it was impossible to get his signature on legal documents. As a result, he failed to make a will, opening up the possibility of a battle over his fortune. Kate Garrett from Edgbaston-based Tyndallwoods Solicitors explains.

Whether you distrust lawyers or simply have not got round to making a will, the only way for you to stipulate who will be responsible for administering and benefiting from your estate, is to appoint and name them in your will. In terms of administering your estate, you may have someone in mind who you want to be executor. The executor is responsible for arranging your funeral, sorting through your personal belongings and realising any assets you own. It also involves distributing your estate in accordance with your wishes as outlined in your will. If you die without a will, this is called dying intestate and your estate will be administered by and distributed according to the rules of intestacy, irrespective of your wishes. Generally speaking, under the rules of intestacy, the following relatives will benefit from your estate in this order:1. Your spouse or civil partner will receive your personal possessions and:a. The rest of your estate if you have no children; b. The first ÂŁ250,000 of your estate if you have children plus half of the rest of your estate. The other half of your estate will go to your children.

29 Woodbourne Road Edgbaston Birmingham B17 8BY edgbaston@tyndallwoods.co.uk Car parking on site

2. If you die intestate leaving no surviving spouse or civil partner, your estate will be distributed in a strict order:a. If you have children, they will inherit all your estate in equal shares; b. If there are no children, your surviving parents will inherit your estate in equal shares; c. If you have no children and your parents have died, your brothers and sisters will inherit in equal shares; d. Thereafter, the order of potential beneficiaries is more remote relatives. e. If you have no surviving relatives, your estate is passed to the Crown. Put simply, if you have not made a will, your estate may neither be administered nor distributed according to your wishes. Those people you may want to inherit from your estate may be left with nothing. For more information please contact Judy Dyke at Tyndallwoods Solicitors jdyke@tyndallwoods.co.uk / 0121 693 2222

Celebrating Birmingham’s hospitality superstars Many luminaries from the hospitality industry gathered at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in June to celebrate, reward and highlight the great work done within the city at places where people eat, drink and sleep.

The inaugural Birmingham Food Drink & Hospitality Awards was held on Monday 6th June, hosted by celebrity TV personality and proud Brummie, Alison Hammond. The Awards are the first of their kind, including a plethora of categories celebrating everything from the best fine dining restaurants, oriental restaurants and most popular street food to best chef, best restaurant manager and best food and drink blogger, to name a few. The awards’ charity partner, Love Brum raised £2000 for Birmingham and District Deaf Children’s Society. Winners spanned the Michelin Star establishment Purnell’s who won two awards to pop up street food brand Low ‘N’ Slow, and came from independents as well as national brands.

Birmingham Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards’ Co-Founder, Anita Chumber alongside Associate Partner, Anita Champaneri, MD of Delicious PR said: “A big thank you to our main sponsors Pepsi Max and support from Edgbaston Stadium, Pathway Group, Britvic, The Sky Bar, High Line, Hollywood Monster, Mr McQueen, Birmingham City University, Vision Print, Birmingham Updates, RBH and our Ambassadors, Paul Fulford, Headz Up Business, TAG Network, Jas Sansi Photography. “And a huge thank you to our Media Partners, Swan Publishing, Sixtynine Degrees, Dine Birmingham and Charity Partner, Love Brum, and supported by Visit Birmingham and Vibrant Networks. “And above all, thanks to the people from the city of Birmingham for making this event so inclusive and successful. “Huge congratulations to the winners. We look forward to seeing you again next year for Birmingham Food, Drink and Hospitality Awards 2017!” For more info about the Birmingham Food, Drink & Hospitality Awards visit thebfdhawards.co.uk or contact on 0121 382 8362 41

Echoes of a simpler time Before Birmingham was one united whole, it was a series of small settlements at the corner of the ancient Forest of Arden. Going back even further, to the Bronze age - around 4,000 years ago - very little recorded history exists to tell us how people lived and where their settlements were in the Midlands, which is why it’s so exciting and special to discover Bronze age remains here in Moseley and Kings Heath.

Recreation of a bronze age home fireplace

The burnt mounds in Moseley Bog are easily overlooked, appearing on the surface to be little more than a bit of rough landscaping, but they can give us clear indication that a settlement of Bronze age people was placed here. The broken shards of stone found in the mounds are believed to be the result of thermal shock, which occurred when Bronze age people were boiling water to cook their meals. These types of mounds can be found in many locations across the country, they almost always appear in the distinctive crescent shape and support other evidence of widespread cultural traits of that time. The oldest artefact found in Birmingham is the Saltly handaxe, which dates back to the paleolithic era, 500,000 years ago and was discovered in the gravels of the River Rea. This tool originally belonged to a pre-human species known as homo heidelbergensis and is currently on display at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery.

A 10,400 year old settlement was excavated from Digbeth less than a decade ago, preserving the oldest found remains of human habitation in the Midlands since the last ice age (which rendered the area uninhabitable for quite some time). The remains provide evidence that hunter gatherers, with basic flint tools, had successfully cleared the area of trees to set up camp there by burning them down. So next time you’re popping to the shop you can paint a picture in your mind of Birmingham in a simpler time, from the hunter gatherers chasing their dinner through the old wilderness of Digbeth, to the Bronze age families tending to their crops, women in their long woollen tunics and men in skirts, cloaks and round woollen hats! Written by Ruby Watson

Below is an artists impression of homo heidelbergensis species of human from the stone age. On the far right is a drawing of a stone age hand axe.

Life is simple; just add water Water plays a vital role not only by giving us life, but also by enriching it. Many religions use it as a spiritual cleanser, in Chinese philosophy it is used as a role model, and of all the elements it is described by (famous ex-local-resident) Tolkien as being the most beautiful; ‘Truly, Water is become now fairer than my heart imagined, neither had my secret thought conceived the snowflake, nor in all my music was contained the falling of the rain’ - The Silmarillion. You can’t deny that after having sat by the sea or even just having had a bath at home you feel rejuvenated and calm. Birmingham may not be able to offer a sea-side, but it does have plenty of charming locations to be close to nature’s great healer, here are some we’ve handpicked for you…

Edgbaston Reservoir

Birmingham’s second biggest open stretch of water, and somehow its biggest kept secret. This stunning reservoir is never a particularly crowded destination. You could easily believe you were deep in the heart of the countryside, not at the centre of a bustling city. This is also the best opportunity in the city centre to get on the water, there are sailing classes, canoes for hire and much more.

Miles of canals

Birmingham prides itself on having more miles of canals than venice, and they provide a very serene setting for a stroll or bike ride. There is a canal route that can take you all the way into town from the edge of Kings Heath, but perhaps save that for a day when you have a lot of time on your hands!

Swanshurst lake

If you don’t mind sharing some of your picnic with a host of feathered friends then Swanshurst lake is a great destination. It’s become particularly popular with ducks, geese and a family of swans in the past few years. There’s a lot going on beneath the lake’s surface too, you rarely see the park without a local sat in a little fold out chair at the water’s edge with all of their fishing equipment poised in position. So there’s really no need to feel blue because your holidays have come and gone in a flash, there are plenty of destinations on your doorstep that are both restorative and relaxing. This city has inspired some of the world’s greatest assets to the academic, industrial and literary arenas, it must be something in the water! 45

Disney Pixar’s Monsters University, with a very familar clock tower...

Old Joe reaching the stars It’s a tall red-brick wonder of Birmingham that can be seen from high-points all over the city, from Marco Pierre Whites in The Cube to Rofuto at Park Regis. But how much do we really know about this iconic clock tower? Here are ten interesting facts!

1. The tower was built to commemorate Joseph

Chamberlain, whose name is carved in the stone at the tower’s base. Joseph made his career in Birmingham as a manufacturer of screws and later as mayor of the city, making many educational reforms and earning him the everlasting respect and admiration of the University of Birmingham.

2.

It is affectionately referred to as ‘Old Joe’ or ‘Big Joe’ by students and locals.

3. It was constructed between 1900 - 1908. 4. Peregrine Falcons live at the top and swoop down to have pigeons for lunch.

5.

Joseph Chamberlain changed the original design due to his admiration for Torre Del Mangia’s campanile (clock tower) in Siena.

6.

The clock tower in the Disney Pixar film ‘Monsters University’ was modelled after it (see photo above).

Joseph Cham berlain 1836 - 1913, british politic ian and states man.

7. Asteroid ‘10515 Old Joe’ was discovered in

1989 by Brian G W Manning and was named in the clock towers honour.

8.

Old Joe inspired Tolkien in his creation of Orthanc, the black tower of Isengard from The Lord Of The Rings trilogy.

9.

When deciding how to use their construction budget they were faced with the choice of a functional building or an iconic one, a tough call to make and the result of which has inspired generation after generation.

10.

And last but not least, it is the tallest freestanding clock tower in the world! So we hope you’re satisfied with these juicy local facts, and are feeling ready to hit the streets with some conversation starters about the colourful history and continued astronomical inspiration of our humble city. Warm summer nights... call for more lights What if we don’t want the glorious garden hours to be limited to the daytime and the occasional party? What if we want them to continue into the night? Well, there is a tasteful midway point between bedazzling your garden like it’s christmas and having no outside lighting at all, let’s find it together.

What does it achieve? Your motivation may be to showcase your home to its full potential from the garden, perhaps it’s to have a more pleasant view through the windows as night falls or even to extend the evening living space out on to the patio; a delicate arrangement of lights can do it all.

How best to arange them? Planting a row of glowing downlighters in amongst the flowers will create a very inviting and attractive night-time garden. It’s also a good idea to pick your favourite trees and place some uplighters directly below them, illuminating the branches and lower foliage. Fairy lights in the bushes are a tad too Christmassy so it’s best to steer clear, but firesafe enclosed candles and lanterns are quite seasonally ambiguous - and make very pretty centrepieces.

3. What will it cost? Solar-powered lighting is as close to free as it gets and it takes all of the effort out of personally maintaining the garden lighting but unfortunately they’re not half as bright as lights connected to the mains which may require the help of a qualified electrician. If you want to keep close track of your energy consumption then you can always opt for re-chargable battery powered lights, which are bright, beautiful and keep your peace of mind. THE SECRET GARDEN KING HEATH

The secret garden Thrive is a national charity with a local heart and uses gardening to help people with disabilities, ill health, or those who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable and operates out of the famous former TV gardens in Kings Heath Park.

The floral border known as ‘The Life Changing Garden’ was developed by Thrive horticultural therapists Amanda Fields and Deborah Stubbs who took inspiration from the book ‘The Secret Garden’. The border had to be based on a piece of literature and this world famous novel features a young girl who finds solace in a locked and neglected walled garden at Misselthwaite Manor where she is sent to live after the death of her parents. Over time, the garden ‘heals’ her after being orphaned and she brings it back to life making new friends and learning gardening skills along the way. The fresh air and exercise restore her health, and her excitement at the beauty of the garden brings her and those whose lives she touches, back to life. She befriends the staff at the manor and a young sickly boy who has been living in a hidden bedroom in the house. She brings him out into the garden – the first time he has been outside in many years – and over time, enjoying gentle exercise and nature, restores the boy to health.

Amanda said: “Taking inspiration from this wonderful story we were able to show how powerful the garden environment is. “The story deals with bereavement, disability, loneliness, isolation, anxiety and poor physical health which are some of the reasons why people come to Thrive. “We see first-hand how gardening can help everyone, regardless of age or disability and use gardening as a form of therapy allowing people living with disabilities or ill health, or those who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable to make positive changes to their lives, feeling happier, healthier, and more confident.” Thrive worked with Avonbank Nurseries, part of Pershore College to source the plants to depict an old English cottage garden which included rambling roses, Lillies, Clematis, Salvia and healing plants such as Rosemary and Lavender. To get involved with Thrive or to find out more about what they do visit www.thrive.org.uk or follow them on Twitter @thrivecharity 51

Supporting local charities Tyndallwoods Solicitors were pleased to host a Summer Garden Party in support of the Heart of England Community Foundation. Sir Dominic Cadbury, Trustee and Tina Costello, Chief Executive of the Foundation spoke of the work of the charity as it expands its activities to support voluntary and community groups across Birmingham and the Black Country. The work of two such local charities The One Handed Musical Instrument Trust (OHMI) and Martineau Gardens were showcased at the event.

OHMI addresses the issue that any deficiency in one hand or arm makes traditional instruments unplayable to any reasonable standard. The OHMI Trust challenges technologists and instrument makers to build one-handed instruments that can provide undifferentiated participation in musical life; whether at school, in the home or in professional ensemble. Guests at the Garden Party enjoyed a performance from five local children and their teachers all playing one-handed musical instruments.

Caroline Hutton, Chief Executive of Martineau Gardens, described the beautiful Community Garden, two miles from Birmingham city centre as an oasis for wildlife and a haven of tranquility, the gardens are two and a half acres of organically maintained landscape connecting well-being, education and the natural environment. If you would like to support any of these charities please contact Judy Dyke at Tyndallwoods Solicitors on 0121 693 2222

Hear we are again Hearing loss and earache are often caused by ear wax. Microsuction is a safe and quick way to remove it. It usually takes 15-20 minutes. Earwax is present in all healthy ears. However, if it builds up it can stop sound getting to your eardrums, so that hearing becomes dull and conversation is difficult to follow.

A patient recently commented: “Thank you, I can hear again!” Microsuction is in much demand so NHS waiting times can be several weeks. In response to this, local audiologist, Martin Barnes, has set up a private microsuction service in a GP surgery in Harborne. The microsuction process is straightforward. A brief medical history is taken and a consent form is signed. A camera is used to take pictures of your ear canal so you can see the problem wax. The wax is then gently removed by a microsuction pump and ‘after’ pictures show what has been achieved.

Microsuction is also suitable for people with perforated eardrums or infections which have been treated by your GP. Appointments are usually available within 24-48 hours. So if you’re suffering with these symptoms call H.E.A.R. Partners Microsuction Clinic today.

Treatment is provided by a qualified Audiologist at a GP Surgery in Harborne. For an appointment call 07815 053 977
