St Dunstan’s Open Day St Dunstan’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery is a wonderful place for children aged 3 to 11.

Academic All children thrive when they feel happy, safe and secure which is highly valued by all staff and Governors at St Dunstan’s School. Children have achieved brilliant results in the recent SATs examinations – 100% level 4 and above Maths 100% level 4 and above in Science 96% level 4 and above in English.

St Dunstan’s is one of three parish schools in Kings Heath; St Dunstan’s, St Albans’s and Bishop Challoner Catholic College. As St Dunstan’s School is on the same campus as Bishop Challoner Catholic College and St Dunstan’s Church children regularly take part in shared activities, masses and church celebrations. Residential Visits Children in Year 5 and Year 6 have the opportunity to take part in residential visits to education centres like Stansfeld and Bockleton Study Centre enabling them to experience many outdoor activities such as pond dipping, orienteering, visits to Christchurch in Oxford where Harry Potter was filmed, hill walking etc. For the last two years a group of children have been taken skiing. End of Year Production

The school proudly holds the Activemark 2008 award for exceptional delivery of the National School Sport Strategy. Children also have regular opportunities to be taught by PE specialists and use the exceptional sports facilities of Bishop Challoner Catholic College.

Extra Curricular Clubs St Dunstan’s has many different clubs and activities running throughout the year some including football, netball, cheerleading, multi skills, Gaelic football, dance and drama and radio club. In June the school held a ‘ Clubs’ week where many community clubs came into school to carry out taster workshops with the children to introduce them to the many clubs and organisations within our community that they many be interested in joining. These included a street dance club, brownies, a karate club and Moseley Rugby Club as well as many others.

Music Children are given the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument – guitar, brass, accordion and woodwind. In the summer term the parents are invited to a recital to give the children the opportunity to celebrate their achievements. The school also has a flourishing school choir who join in with many celebrations.

Before and After School Club The Orchard Club @ St Dunstan’s is on site and cares for children from 4 years of age. The club is open during the summer holidays when the children enjoy a varied programme of activities and outings.

Parent Teacher Association The school has a thriving PTA who organise many family events such as race nights, quiz nights and discos. The most recent event was the Summer Fun in July which included gokarts, a merry-go-round, bouncy castle, stalls and barbecue. This event raised over £1000.

Moseley in Bloom wins Gold again Moseley was given a gold award for the fourth time at The Heart of England in Bloom Awards Ceremony on 15 September and was also named Best in the Urban Communities category, thanks to the tireless hard work of an army of local volunteers.

Moseley was also presented with a silver award at the national finals held in September and Jan Millar was given an RHS Britain in Bloom Community Champion Award. Throughout the summer Moseley Village has put on stunning floral displays to be enjoyed by all. But there is much more to Moseley in Bloom than first meets the eye.

well established in Moseleyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s social calendar, was the Open Gardens Weekend in June. Fifteen private gardens opened as well as Moseleyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s historic Dovecote, the gardens at Headway in Moseley Hall Hospital and the garden at the Grange, sheltered housing. Billesley Lane and Moor Green allotments at Cannon Hill Park were also open. There were plant sales, teas and musicians.

Moseley in Bloom began in 2004 with a small group of people aiming to make Moseley cleaner and greener. Since then it has grown and developed and so far, Moseley in Bloom has won four Gold Awards in the RHS Heart of England in Bloom campaign and two Silver Gilts in the National Britain in Bloom awards. Moseley in Bloom was also awarded a Certificate of Merit in 2009 for the makeover at the old Meteor car showrooms. Moseley residents picked runner beans from the crops growing on the security fencing round this site, a few yards from the high street. That project is now over as the developers will soon move in.
