Robert Geoghegan: capturing the community You’d struggle to find someone more local than artist Robert Geoghegan. Born in Kings Heath and now living in Moseley, he’s never lived outside Birmingham and uses the city as inspiration for his paintings and their wry captions. Robert developed his skills at Bournville Art School, fitting in the course around a ‘dead end’ job at the Royal Mail sorting office. His early paintings were rural landscapes in watercolours, while his quirky sense of humour came out in his poetry, which he performed at open mic nights. It wasn’t until about ten years ago that he had the idea of putting the two together to create his popular “visual jokes.” The first one was a painting of a mother, weighed down with shopping bags, walking playfully along the top of a wall, while her small child accompanied her sensibly on the pavement. “I observe a lot and like to give things a story, make the mundane special,” he says. “A lot of art these days tries to shock people, but I try to do work that will entertain. My pictures aren’t deep, they speak for themselves.”

His style has continued to develop over the years. “The ideas were originally more flippant, and the paintings were more simplistic and cartoon-like. I now use oil paint, so the colours are stronger and there’s more detail. The ideas have also matured.” Robert believes very strongly that art should not be just for the rich. He makes sure his work is available in smaller, affordable prints as well as full sized limited editions. He sells his paintings at local markets, and also works with schools, including his old primary school St Dunstan’s in Kings Heath, to inspire the next generation. “I just want to make a connection with people,” he says, “give back to the community.” If the popularity of his paintings is anything to go by, then he has certainly succeeded. Robert sells prints of his paintings at Moseley Arts Market on the last Saturday of every month. You can view his work on his website: www.robspaintings.com Alexandra Taylor

Vital support for grandma after illness.

“The live in Care Specialists”

60-year-old Surinder looks after a busy home with children and grandchildren. Her children work, then come home late to cooked meals. She looks after the kids during school holidays. A recent serious shoulder operation meant reduced mobility for several months. She missed her sense of independence and importance, and her family had to keep taking time off work. They contacted Clarriots Care and Suzie helped Surinder on a daily basis until she recovered. She helped with difficult tasks to do with household chores and cooking, with Surinder overseeing her. Surinder said; "My right arm was out of use for months. You take it for granted how much you get done. But Suzie was so much help, even down to helping with the children in the holidays. I really trust Clarriots."

Easter: a cross section of culture On the face of it, it’s difficult to see how a solemn Christian feast marking the death of Jesus has come to be celebrated with chocolate eggs and gaudy Easter bonnets, but the answer lies in Europe’s rich cultural heritage.. The word ‘Easter’ comes from the Anglo Saxon pagan goddess Eostre. Legend tells how Eostre found a wounded bird and transformed it into a hare so it could survive the winter. The hare found that it could still lay eggs, so it decorated these each spring and left them as offerings to the goddess. Judaism also has its own spring festival called Passover, which commemorates the escape of the people of Israel from slavery in Egypt. Hard boiled eggs are traditionally served to symbolise the rebirth of the Jewish people into freedom. When Christianity came to Europe, these earlier customs became intertwined with rituals to mark Christ’s resurrection, as well as those to mark the coming of the new season, such as spring flowers, new clothes and hatching eggs. There is even debate about whether hot cross buns originally symbolised the cross on which Jesus was crucified, or the four quarters of the moon. Over the years, and across the world, a rich variety of Easter customs has developed. In Bermuda, kites are flown to symbolise the ascension of Jesus into Heaven, many countries hold egg rolling events that may hark back to the rock being rolled from Jesus’s tomb and in Eastern Europe people throw water on each other, a tradition that has its roots in the baptism of a 10th century Polish prince.

However you choose to choose to celebrate Easter, whether it be with prayer, a chocolate bunny or an egg hunt, you can be sure that you are keeping alive traditions which stretch back hundreds, if not thousands, of years.

Moseley property market update: Thirlmere Drive Estate outperforms central Moseley by 48% You can imagine our surprise to find that similar sized houses on the Thirlmere Drive Estate, off Wake Green Road in Moseley, have actually outperformed those in and around Leighton Road. This is because a three bedroom house on the Thirlmere Drive Estate can be bought for around £121,700 and can be rented for around £725 per month, giving a yield of around 7.1%. When we compare this to a possible 4.8% yield for Leighton Road, it is almost 48% higher on the Thirlmere Drive Estate.

Daniel Sperber of specialist Moseley letting agent IQ PROPERTY gives some insight. The other week, a young couple who had read my article in the previous edition, took me up on my offer to discuss their idea of potentially investing in a Buy to Let property. They had been offered the opportunity to buy a property on Leighton Road and just wanted some guidance. Now Leighton Road is a great location and from experience, houses there always rent well.

However, we must remember that yield is not the sole consideration when investing in Buy to Let properties. The average value of a three bedroom house on Thirlmere Drive in 2001 was £62,800 which has since risen by 54% in the last 13 years. A three bedroom terraced house on Leighton Road in 2001 was £104,400, meaning the value has increased by an impressive 90% in the same 13 years. For more news, views and comment on the local property market please see The Moseley Property Blog.

Daniel Sperber

IQ PROPERTY

However, one of the most important considerations you will make before investing is the balance between annual return/yield and the annual value increase/capital growth. With this in mind I suggested that we delve a little deeper.

Specialist Moseley Letting Agent

The houses here are mostly late Victorian and Edwardian and are generally favoured by professional couples, families and sharers. The average three bedroom terrace sells for around £198,300 and rents for around £800 per month. Not bad, but could you get a better return elsewhere we wondered?

Getting Quizzical Do you know Cliff Richard’s real name? Can you make a beach scene out of tin foil? Can you sing the lyrics to every 80’s rock ballad? If so, then it might be worth trying your luck in one of the numerous local pub quizzes that take place each week. Round up your similarly knowledgeable and talented friends on any of the following nights.

Wednesday

Monday

Emily, who runs the quiz at One Trick Pony Club, explains that the winners walk away with the cumulative entry fees, so the more people that play, the bigger the prize pot. There are also smaller prizes for other rounds, such as a bowl of nachos for the team who creates the best tin foil sculpture.

Fighting Cocks, Moseley (8pm, £1) Loco Lounge, Kings Heath (8pm, £1) The Pear Tree, Kings Heath (8pm, £1) The quiz at the Fighting Cocks is run by Ben and Tom whose motto is ‘taking silliness seriously’. The challenges as interactive and inventive as possible, including the regular ‘banana round’, where teams have to craft something out of a banana. They also raise money for charity - in December they raised £420 which was spent on sleeping bags for homeless people.

Tuesday

Prince of Wales, Moseley (8pm, £1) Patrick Kavagnah, Moseley (8pm, £2) Bring your smart phone along for either of these quizzes, which both use technology instead of pen and paper to record and calculate your answers via a free app.

Hare and Hounds, Kings Heath (8.30pm, £1) One Trick Pony Club, Moseley (8pm, £2) Bohemian, Moseley (8.30pm, £1)

Thursday and Sunday

The Red Lion, Kings Heath (9pm, £1) The Red Lion quiz is accompanied by a raffle - if your ticket is drawn you get the chance to play an extra game of Play Your Cards Right (Thursdays) or Open The Box (Sundays) for a special prize. Other pub quizzes are available! Ask at your local for details. by Alexandra Taylor

Looking after your lawn It’s spring at last! The nights are getting longer and you want your lawn looking its best for all those garden parties and barbecues. So here are a few handy words of advice from local lawn-care specialist Phil Harrison. Unfortunately, as the grass wakes up after its winter snooze, so do the weeds. Dandelions, buttercups and daisies can take over as summer approaches, so start your lawn care regime by tackling them with an appropriate weed killer. Once the weeds have been sent packing, it’s time to fertilise your grass, building its strength and getting it lush and green for the summer. But be careful using the wrong products, or using them incorrectly, could leave your grass weak and patchy.

If you'd like to know more Please call Phil Harrison, Lawnscience Solihull, on 07917 004 450.

Professional lawn care experts have access to top products used by football clubs and golf courses that aren’t available in the shops. Plus our expertise comes with a satisfaction guarantee. If you’re serious about your lawn, then save yourself time and money by giving us a call.

Here comes the sun If the prospect of summer means the need for new prescription sunglasses to you then read on because Pabari Optician in Moseley has something exciting in store for you. At a glance Xperio Polarising are look like everyday sunglasses but these are more than just another sun lens. They do it all. They eliminate glare, enhance colour and visual contrast, so they’re perfect for driving and sports - any outdoor activities. And right now you can get Experio Polarising lenses half price at Pabari, saving 50% off Xperio Polarising lenses when you buy Crizal lenses. If you’re unusually sensitive to light they really help, as they damp down blinding glare and reflections leaving you free to enjoy the sunshine. They give protection from UV that’s unmatched in everyday lenses, with an Eye-Sun Protection Factor of 50+. They’re very resistant to scratches too as they include a special antiscratch coating that makes them up to three times more resistant to scratches than competing polarising lenses.

18

UV Protection is important. We all know that our skin needs to be protected from UV radiation, but our eyes need it even more. The UV-A and UV-B rays that make up UV light can have serious long and short-term effects and can lead to an increased risk of skin cancer. Children are particularly at risk from UV. It has been reliably estimated that the retina (the back of the eye) has received 80% of our lifetime’s exposure by the time we reach adulthood. We take great care to ensure that our children’s skin is protected from the dangers of UV and the eyes are just as important. See better, whatever your prescription, whatever you do Xperio Polarising lenses are an option with any Essilor lens, including Varilux, the word’s leading varifocal lens marque.

Could you take your company's tax bill lower? Millions of pounds of research and development (R&D) tax benefits are going unclaimed, either because a company does not know they are doing activities that would qualify or there is concern that advisors will cream off the bulk of any benefit they claim, according to tax specialist Emma Clewes of MHA Bloomer Heaven. If you are running a business that has stood the test of time the chances are you are undertaking R&D in order to remain competitive. Emma’s job is to assist companies in assessing whether there is qualifying R&D activity going on that can be used to either reduce their tax bill or claim a rebate from the Inland Revenue. Going forwards she aims to give companies the tools and knowledge they need to prepare their own claims enabling them to retain as much of the tax benefits as possible in the future. Emma said; “Many companies simply do not realise that what they are doing daily could qualify as R&D for tax purposes and that the cost of doing it can be reduced by thousands of pounds of tax savings. What’s more, it can be backdated by up to two years - so businesses can ease their tax burden this year using information about activity undertaken in 2013.” But Emma also has a word of warning – “If you have received R&D tax relief then be very careful when considering applying for grants. The grant money could well be swallowed up paying the tax rebate back to the Inland Revenue.” MHA Bloomer Heaven works with companies with a turnover of between £100K and upwards

of £20 million and in any one month they can recover tax savings of anywhere between £7,000 and £107,000 or more for their clients. If you are a director shareholder of a business it makes sense that you want to keep as much money in the business as possible so when you retire you reap the benefits of your hard work. If you are a director with a salary based on profit then the better the bottom line the more you will have in your back pocket. The Inland Revenue want to give this money away to help reward and support innovative businesses and if you are doing it anyway why not get the benefit?

Lunar Festival 2015 Lunar Festival returns for its second year this summer, set in a beautiful region of verdant countryside just outside Solihull in Tanworth in Arden from the 5th to the 7th of June. Indicative of how Lunar likes to do things a little bit differently, they welcome headliners Tinariwen this summer. The Grammy Awardwinning group of Tuareg nomads and musicians hail from the Sahara Desert region of northern Mali. Then there’s Wilko Johnson, a guitarist with the iconic Dr. Feelgood. They are joined by the quite brilliant Public Service Broadcasting who take samples from old public information films, archive footage and propaganda material, creating thoughtprovoking shows which are wholly unique. As well as the plethora of other artists performing there is a whole host of other activities designed to keep everyone entertained

from the families with little ones in tow through to the adults looking for some late night clubs. In the daytime you will be able to try your hand at everything from bush crafts to African Drumming, Guerilla Archaeology to Headdress Making, Yoga to Northern Soul Dance classes plus many more. For the families in attendance there will be the Pink Meadow, which will host the children’s weekend club to keep the little ones entertained.

Care home fees a prospect faced by many Have you considered putting your home into a lifetime trust to protect its value Tyndallwoods footer for use from being lost to either the payment of Inheritance Judy Dyke, Tyndallwoods Solicitors Tax or care home fees? This is a common concern but before action is taken there are important consequences to be considered.

• Family circumstances can change for example if your child trustee dies and authority is left with in-laws.

Judy Dyke, Head of Will & Trusts at Tyndallwoods Solicitors, Edgbaston highlighted just a few of the issued raised:

• In considering such possibility you must also consider the need to pay a market rent to preserve benefit gained.

• In placing an asset in Trust you give away power of choice for the future. Not only in relation to moving home, but also in connection with the choice and standard of care home that you wish to live in.

Judy explained “In short, it is essential to take professional advice when considering any such decision in relation to your home. Concerns can often be alleviated by the updating of your Will and preparation of detailed Lasting Powers of Attorney with Letters of Wishes in support.”

• Any such giving away, if deemed deliberate deprivation, can be set aside. • There are inevitably costs of creating, implementing and running any such Trust. • There may also be ongoing tax implications. 29 Woodbourne Road Edgbaston Birmingham B17 8BY edgbaston@tyndallwoods.co.uk Car parking on site

Connecting your home and garden With summer getting closer we are all itching to step out into the garden and maybe even indulge in a glass of something nice on the patio. With a growing trend in the fabulous bi-fold doors which really bring your home and garden together there is now an arguably even more exciting door to consider as an option. If you have a tendency to get excited about doors that is - which is exactly how they are at Finesse Windows in Kings Norton. The new door in question is called a New Wave door and here the experts at Finesse explain the difference. Russell Bridge, managing director at Finesse said; “Bi-Folds have been a popular choice for homeowners as they provide the open space that literally allows you to open your home out into the garden, think Nigel Slater’s garden kitchen on his TV show! “Aluminium Bi-Fold doors have advantages; they provide a sturdy and secure way to create the look many homeowners are in pursuit of. They concertina back to whichever side suits your room layout and we have installed many for very happy customers.

30

“So why choose a New Wave door? What if you could create this space but with even more added benefits? The independently operated panels mean the master door can go on the left, right or in the middle, creating a door that can be used in different ways on different days. There are no hinges on the central panes and only one handle making it pleasing to the eye. The doors slide and then turn so do not impact on space as they do not need to be stacked and pushed across to one side. “So to answer the question we are not sure whether the New Wave is ‘nobler’ than the Bi-fold but it’s an attractive alternative for a discerning customer who is looking for an innovative way to open up their home. If you are interested in New Wave doors then the best thing to do is have a look at one in action and you can see one at the Finesse showroom. And for a limited time only, Finesse is offering 20% off New Wave doors, so strike now while the iron is hot! A door like you’ve never seen before. At Finesse we care about helping you transform your home with exceptional windows, doors and conservatories. Our innovative New Wave door is the perfect example. The Dental Touch Dr Manoj Parmar, a local family dentist, offers some friendly advice on ensuring your teeth last a lifetime One of the things we’re all taught from an early age is to brush our teeth twice daily, especially before bedtime, but less than 50% of the population floss every day which can lead to plague build-up, tooth decay and gum disease. Some top tips for keeping everything in tiptop condition • To brush thoroughly takes about 2 minutes • Keeping our toothbrush/tooth head for too long – replace every 3 months. A worn toothbrush is a useless toothbrush • Failing to rinse the toothbrush thoroughly after use means you’re putting the bugs and bacteria back into your mouth – yuk!

My Moseley & Kings Heath version

Denture Problems?

• Brushing teeth straight after a meal – brush as soon as you get up, have breakfast, then just rinse • Failing to floss, or use interdental brushes – bacteria and food love to hide between teeth. Make regular visits to the dentist and dental hygienist and your teeth will last a lifetime. Dr Manoj Parmar

Local designer makes it to London Fashion Week We love to celebrate the talent that has come from our great little part of the world, it adds to our sense of pride in where we come from, which is why it was such a pleasure to discover the recently blossoming talents of 24 year old local fashion designer Holly Jayne Smith. Holly went to Billesley Primary School and Swanshurst Secondary School and since then has gone from strength to strength. Not long out of university, this year she represented her own collection at London Fashion week! Having spent much of her younger years around the arty and bohemian Moseley Village she reflected on how this sweet place played a part in her personal growth and happiness; artistic vision is something she feels has always been inside of her. Winning Graduate Fashion Week she captured the attention of major brands internationally and prompted praise from the likes of Vogue, Fashion Scout and Phoenix magazine. But Holly’s bold and daring styles are not all that’s got heads turning. Her design concepts are also thoroughly insightful and truly inspired. The British Council recently awarded Holly with a trip to Morocco to make a collection, and while experiencing the initial culture shock of such a vastly different society she was able to observe the friction of the still remaining traditional Moroccan style in contention with globalisation and modern

culture. The collection she made is a fusion of these conflicting social tensions and presents a surprisingly elegant marriage of the two. “I draw my inspiration from human psychology in social environments and how the decision making part of our brain is influenced by pre-conceived ideas and immediate surroundings,” Holly explained. Looking into the future Holly shared some exciting plans, next thing on the horizon is starting her own brand - much anticipated by everyone watching this rising star, especially those who have made a concerted effort to buy her collections at their first chance. For a look at Holly’s journey so far go to www.hollyjaynesmith.co.uk Supporting local is so important to the richness of our society, culturally and economically, so let’s get involved!

Spring Clean Your Life It’s very easy for us all to fall into bad habits, cutting corners when we clean and avoiding those fiddly corners. Especially when we’re juggling the housework with cooking dinner, answering the phone and heading to the shops. But that doesn’t mean you have to spend a weekend on your knees scrubbing skirting boards to give your house an annual blitz. It’s worth considering calling in the professionals, who won’t have the same bad habits you do and will be able to give your house their undivided attention until it’s spotless and shining.

You can also book a check-up at the doctor followed by an indulgent beauty treatment or new exercise regime to give your body a fresh start. Or maybe it’s time for some life coaching or counselling to help take stock of your work or personal life, and make any necessary changes to set you up for the year ahead.

This will leave you with time to tackle the garden, pulling up weeds and giving shrubs a haircut in readiness for the summer. Green waste collections in Birmingham run from the end of February to November, so if you don’t have a compost heap for all those trimmings, check the council website for information.

Alexandra Taylor

You can also take advantage of dryer, warmer days to give the decking a good scrub followed by a couple of coats of preservative to keep it looking good for longer. Add a fresh coat of paint to tired looking sheds and fences and, voila! An outdoor space you can be proud to show off when summer arrives. And it’s not just the house and garden that can benefit from a good spring clean. April, the end of the financial year, is the perfect time to review your expenditure, perhaps with the help of the bank or a financial advisor.

A family bathroom in a Victorian home When Amy decided to embark on a project to turn an out-dated 80’s bathroom in her Moseley Victorian home into a modern family bathroom she turned to Roman Bathrooms for help. A builder and an interior designer were already involved in the major project which involved taking out a wall to bring together a separate WC and bathroom into one larger room. Caroline from Roman Bathrooms was able to work alongside the designer and the builder to make the most of the new space and help create a modern functional bathroom to meet the needs of a family with four growing boys. The new room has space for a bath and a shower as well as double sink and useful storage has been provided with a floor to ceiling height walk-in airing cupboard.

36

Amy said; “Working with Caroline was an absolute delight. She is extremely knowledgeable about products and helped us to select the best ones for our family. She and the team always go the extra mile to deliver what is promised, even when the unexpected happens - a dream to work with.”

What do The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Dusty Springfield all have in common?... ...Well apart from being some of the most inspirational and iconic names in music history, they also all played gigs on York Road in the 60s! Yes, some of the biggest names in the business started off their careers by playing on a small side street in Kings Heath at ‘The Ritz Ballroom’. Unfortunately the site is now reduced to rubble and ash following a fire that broke out in March 2013, but it doesn’t have to be the end of the road for The Ritz Ballroom. Ken Whittaker and Bob Prew set up ‘Kings Heath Walk Of Fame’ to hold onto and preserve the impressive musical heritage Kings Heath has - with the end goal of purchasing the site of The Ritz and building a new music venue for future generations to perform in. This would include a museum paying homage to those legendary groups who graced the stage years ago and made this site so special. The Walk of Fame is a non profit organisation, striving to give the community back a piece of its history and provide a platform

for its musical future. Other UK cities like Manchester and Leeds have done so well to support music venues that played a significant role in their cultural past and we still have the chance to do the same. Ruby Watson

If you're interested in helping out you can donate however much you wish to at www.crowdpatch.co.uk in the campaign ‘Kings Heath Walk Of Fame’. Alternatively Walk of Fame also hosts regular live gigs and proceeds support the cause. For details about the gigs visit www.kingsheathwalkoffame.org.uk

Stunning stained glass There’s nothing more local than Fine Art Glazing - an independent, one-person business that’s been running on Grange Road in Kings Heath for 28 years, restoring and replacing traditional stained glass in the Victorian terraces of Birmingham. Which is why the owner’s name comes as a bit of a surprise. Primo Antoniazzi was born and raised in Birmingham, but his parents were Italian immigrants who came to the UK looking for work after the Second World War. Primo worked in his father’s flooring business before setting up on his own. “I enjoyed working with my hands,” he says, “but I wanted to do something more artistic, more creative.” Moseley and Kings Heath has certainly provided plenty of business over the decades, and even more so in recent years. “More and more young people are moving into terraced houses and wanting to restore the original features. There’s definitely a trend for putting stained glass back in, to enhance the property and add value.” But while most of Primo’s work is in Victorian and Edwardian styles, he loves getting to work with his personal favourite, the dramatic art deco patterns of the 1920s. And Primo’s talents don’t stop at recreating traditional windows and doors - he can also design and create original contemporary works of art. “There really isn’t anything that can’t be created in glass,” he says. “The only limit is people’s budgets.”

Fine Art Glazing Stained Glass Artists

The methods and materials that Primo uses have changed very little in the past hundred years. He does every stage of the process himself, including cutting the glass, putting in the leading, sandblasting and painting if the job demands it, and installing the finished piece. Even when creating a new window from scratch, he reuses a large proportion of original glass. Primo is clearly very passionate about what he does. “It’s a way of life, not a job for me. My plan for the future is just to carry on exactly as I am.” Call Primo on 0121 444 7387 or email primotv3@googlemail.com to find out what he can do for you.

Celebrating our Local Parks Sit on a bench in one of our local parks for just half an hour and you’ll see a cross section of our community pass by - joggers, dog walkers, friends meeting for a natter, families, walkers, footballers, bowlers, cyclists, lovers. But our three main public parks - Kings Heath, Highbury and Moseley - all began life as exclusive preserves of the wealthy. The formal beds of Kings Heath Park date from 1832 and were once the strolling grounds of MP William Congreve Russell, whose grand house now hosts the Victo-rian Tea Rooms. It remained in private ownership until 1908, when a financial cri-sis prompted its sale to the local council. It’s been a centre for horticultural train-ing since 1953. Similarly, Highbury Park was originally part of the Chamberlain family’s Highbury Estate and was landscaped to look like a natural wilderness. The Chamberlain family believed that food should be as fresh as possible and managed a farm on the estate - a tradition continued to this day by the Birmingham and District Bee-keepers Association and Highbury Orchard Community. The land was gifted to the city of Birmingham from 1916 onwards for ‘the benefit of the people of Birming-ham’. Moseley Park originally formed part of the grounds of Moseley Hall, but was sepa-rated

from the rest of the estate when Salisbury Road was built in 1896. The land was bought by a group of businessmen on condition that it would remain an un-spoilt park. To this day it is managed by local people and is free for anyone to visit for the day. It also contains the estate’s 200 year old ice house, one of the best preserved ice houses in the Midlands, which is regularly open to the public. They may have been created as playgrounds for the privileged few, but the lawns and lakes, borders and bowling greens of our wonderful local parks are now open for the whole community to enjoy. by Alexandra Taylor Highbury Park Friends: highburyparkfriends.org.uk Moseley Park & Pool: moseleypark.co.uk Kings Heath Park: birmingham.gov.uk/kingsheathpark

Moseley in Bloom Lives! Firstly, and following the rather gloomy announcement in the last issue of My Moseley and Kings Heath, Moseley in Bloom is pleased to say it is now taking tentative steps towards a revival. New co-chairs, Jean Gilkison and Trevor Hocking, have come forward and they are keen to keep Moseley blooming. This will depend on support from the community and it is hoped that more volunteers will come forward to help.

Moseley in Bloom is not looking for show gardens. This is a Community event to raise money to make Moseley cleaner and greener. If you are interested and would like further details please email info@moseleyinbloom.org.uk

Secondly, the Open Gardens Weekend will run on 27/28 June, provided people are willing to open their gardens.

Thirdly, please can you support the Annual Awards for most Flourishing Front Gardens. Moseley in Bloom is looking for nominations for attractive front gardens in your area which impress and are worthy of an award.

On Saturday, 27 June, gardens are needed in Moseley Central and West area, that is; Chantry Road, Park Hill, Reddings Road, Moor Croft, Salisbury and Amesbury Roads and others near to Moseley village. On Sunday, 28 June, it’s the turn of Moseley East side; School Road, Prospect, Blenheim, Cambridge, Clarence and Woodfield Roads, together with Billesley Lane, Dyott Road, St Agnes Road and Yardley Wood Road and the surrounding area.

You can nominate a neighbour, someone in your locality – or even yourself! Please send nominations to info@moseleyinbloom.co.uk by 12 July
