Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got into hand-drafting sewing patterns?

I started my clothing brand while I was studying fashion design at university. I was quite the beginner back then and started looking for sewing patterns online. I found it so difficult to find patterns that were ontrend and the style I wanted to wear. So, as I learned more and more about pattern cutting throughout the course, I started to make my own patterns and develop my skills. Over time, I realised how many people wanted to have a go sewing their own pieces and loved my styles, so I started NH patterns to make my patterns available to everyone!
Who do you think is the main audience for your style of patterns?
There’s quite a mix really, I’d say generally they attract sewers in their late teens through to late 20s. I also allow my sewing patterns to be used for people sewing for their small businesses (home-based sewers) so there’s quite a few people there that are looking to kickstart a handmade sewing business!
How many patterns have you released, and what is your favourite so far?
So far, I have 11 patterns available (and 10 more in the design that I’m working on). My favourite to wear is the Ember trousers, the wide leg, comfy style is perfect for so many occasions. My favourite to sew is the Ellie bralet (also my most popular pattern!). It’s so easy and quick to make. I can sew a bralet in around 15 mins now!
Who inspires your designs?
I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest, bloggers, and Instagram. I’ll see designs that I like and adapt and design from that until I’ve come up with something I would like to wear!
Tell us three fun facts about yourself
I have a Bengal cat called Floki. He is my boss and tells me when it’s time to finish work for the day! I started my university course seven years ago, and before I’d never pattern cut or sewn anything before! Except for a skirt that I made in school, which by the way, was awful! I love crime shows. Almost any kind! I watch them while I work and I’m currently watching the entire Silent Witness series!
