Valedictorian & Salutatorian
Trey Sexton My trek to becoming valedictorian started years ago, and I am very proud to now have the title. The support of my family, educators, peers and community members has allowed and encouraged me to reach my full potential. This community has provided an ideal environment for any aspiring young adult to mature, learn, and adventure. I have been offered more opportunities than I have been able take advantage of. My proudest accomplishments include winning district Lincoln-Douglas debate, earning the President’s Volunteer Service Award, and building a community garden. I have worked diligently in my studies and extracurricular activities to gain the most from my education so that I might have the opportunity to become anything which I could hope to be. This community’s unwavering support for its youth ultimately allowed me to gain admission to Harvard University where I plan to study something or other in the fall. I want to thank this community for making my dreams possible, and I hope I can continue to count on your support in my years to come.
Hanna Wisdom My new title of salutatorian is the result of my efforts to simply do my best; I achieved this title not by attempting to prove myself smarter or better than anyone else, but by only trying to work as diligently as possible to learn as much as I could in my four years at Glen Rose High School. In the past two years I have accumulated 57 hours of college credit from dual-credit courses; though I will not be able to transfer these credits to my college, I feel that choosing to take the most difficult courses available has immeasurably affected my education level and better prepared me for success in college. In addition to dual-credit, I have also taken six AP courses, three of which I took my senior year. My accomplishments while in high school include qualifying for State in UIL Editorial Writing, qualifying for Regionals in several other UIL Academic subjects, being recognized as an AP Scholar after junior year by receiving a score of 3 or higher on 3 AP tests, being commended on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, and being a member of both POWERSET and NHS for the past two years. My academic success also resulted greatly from the support of my family, community, and teachers. I plan to major in Cognitive Sciences and minor in Biochemistry & Cell Biology as a pre-med student at Rice University.
