the best of Mauritius

Tamarina Hotel represents elegant simplicity where Golf, Beach & Spa are the sparkling satellites surrounding a unique 4-star boutique-hotel of 50 rooms burrowed between mountains and turquoise waters on the west coast of Mauritius.
The Hotel is located on the scenic western coast of the island and fuses luxury and simplicity in a distinctive and authentically Mauritian way.
In the midst of the Tamarina Golf Estate, privacy, tranquility and peace exude. With only fifty rooms, Tamarina Beach, Golf & Spa Club offers a warm and tranquil atmosphere with a unique all-inclusive golf or spa concept that not only provides value for money but also a superlative hotel experience.
Here, one is invited to relax and soak up the spectacular setting between sea and heaven, play golf, indulge in the Spa, enjoy the beach and discover the beauty of the endemic flora and fauna in an unhurried fashion.
The fifty rooms of Tamarina Beach, Golf and Spa offer luxury matched only in the heavens. The senses are welcomed into a space that is simple and beautiful, sober and warm; where ochre and nuances of reds and browns, beige and red clay are heightened by black basalt stone.
The ambience impersonates perfect harmony with the fabrics, stone floors, walls and furniture distilling into a vivid harmony, and highlighted by hints of African culture. Stylistically, the hotel steps boldly into the future whilst casting a knowing glance to its African roots and is thus the epitome of a very modern Afro-Mauritian chic.
The rooms are spacious and tastefully adorned. If you’re traveling with children, it would be essential to understand that the hotel does not accommodate additional beds for children over 3 years old in the parents’ room but a cradle may be added for toddlers. Children’s rates and mini club are not available at the hotel.
The element of nature is all encompassing and immersive and it is downright soothing to while away your free time in one of the four pools of the hotel, and enjoy the quietness of the surrounding nature graciously
captured in the gardens that embellish the local flora and saturate the entire space with the scent of frangipani trees alongside flashes of the beauty of red hibiscus flowers. An evening walk along the beautiful beach of Tamarin Bay is a highly recommended way to enjoy the tropical sunset unfettered by worldly distractions.
Beyond the sheer bliss of relaxation there is much to do for the adventurous. Activities in your package include the 18 hole Championship golf course excluding the golf cart, 2 tennis courts during the day, entrance at Casela Park where you will see 1,500 birds, giant tortoises, lemurs and other animals, and myriad activities (with supplement) like booking a walk with the lions, an occasion offered to you in only two places on the planet.
You must take the opportunity to discover the African side of Mauritius by quad, buggy or the eco-friendly Segway and watch the zebras too. The view from above Casela offers you the fun trek Rando Fun with hanging bridges 60m high and the longest zip line in the Indian Ocean region.
For something serene, you can enjoy the glass-bottom boat rides (upon reservation and weather permitting), a 45-minute sojourn at the spa for golfers and non-golfers. You may go dolphin watching, cruising in a catamaran or dive with the diving school team.
There is a plethora of activities near the hotel that include (but may not be limited to when you book your stay here) a surf school, kayak hiring, big game fishing and horse riding.
However, the fun and frolic will soon fire up your appetite. Part of your all-inclusive package is a choice between La Madrague, the main restaurant, La Plage, a small restaurant at the beach specializing in seafood, Le Dix-Neuf, the restaurant at the Club House on the golf course and Casela Restaurant at Casela Nature & Leisure Park (with a stunning view over the west coast of Mauritius).
To quench your thirst, Le Bar is open all day as from 9 a.m. as you admire the stunning magnificence of the Tamarin Bay.
The spa has a dedicated area with four massage rooms, two double rooms; 3 will soon have their own terrace with showers and one will be equipped with a Japanese bath. To relax after a trek on Rempart Mountain, after a round of golf or simply for pure pleasure, the Spa offers a wide range of massages to keep you guessing.
Exclusivity is not a luxury at the spa. For facial treatment, you have a selected range of products from Germaine de Cappuccini including the organic Naturé derived from the concentrates of white tea. The warm and welcoming spa team is well versed in individual cosmetic treatments so feel free to ask for their professional advice. The Spa is open every day from 9 a.m. till 8 p.m. and thus presents the ideal way to start or end your day.
Sitting by the pool, overlooking the ocean, we sat down with Hotel
manager Dominique Autrey who gave us more insight into the concept of Hotel Tamarina. “It was important for us to set ourselves apart in a hospitality industry dominated by resorts here in Mauritius. Golf resorts are all in the 5 star category, we have created a distinctive exception by being the first hotel with 50 rooms to have a golf course in the 4 star sector. Our location- on Tamarina estate in Tamarina Bay next to Casela Nature Park- presents a wealth and variety of activities that are distinctly unique for a 4 star hotel in Mauritius.
“The philosophy of the Hotel- ‘Simple, yet elegant‘ is evident throughout the guest’s experience. We endeavour to present the guest with an authentic Mauritian experience that is characterized by flavours and textures that delight and calm the senses from a modern décor that invites serenity and peace, a locale indicative of the spirit of a tropical island, replete with an intimacy, mystique and charm, to a Mauritian atmosphere proposed by our 100% warm, friendly and talented Mauritian staff groomed to serve the guest.
“With our all inclusive package topped with excellent service we have something unique to offer both in terms of experience and creating everlasting memories.”
