Discovering the Seven Key Elements for Creating Teams That Matter®

Creating an OTM Plan for Personal Success™

If you are brutally honest with yourself, how many truly high performing teams have you experienced? Would you know how to establish one if the opportunity arose? If you’re in a current team that isn’t performing to its potential, do you know what to do to fix that reality?

Can you imagine working for an organisation that didn’t have some form of a strategic plan to enable it to create the success it desires? Yet do you have a clear plan for yourself?

If you are currently leading a team at any level of your organisation and/or hope to be leading one in the future, this interactive program will guide you through the seven key elements for creating Teams That Matter®. From a career progression perspective, how valuable do you believe the capacity to create high performing teams is to your future? It really is an essential element of career success. While some of the seven key elements are addressed by most team leaders, unfortunately one, two or three key elements are often missing, the impact of which drags down the performance of the team. This simple, yet effective and immediately applicable approach to leading a team will ensure that you have a framework for creating high performing teams on a regular basis.

The vast majority of people do not have any form of written personal plan. Instead, it is ‘all in their heads’. For most people that means that clarifying and achieving the success they desire is left primarily to chance. If you would like to create your own personal strategic plan that will document what success means to you and how, in detail you plan to achieve it, then this program is for you. Having now facilitated over 2,000 people in successfully completing this program Gary Ryan has a wealth of experience from which to draw in enabling you to create your OTM Plan for Personal Success™. Graduate Certificate of Business Management (Public Relations) Course delivery: Prahran campus, online Study pattern: Part-time (evening & weekends) Course duration: Each unit involves 36 hours of class time, usually studied for 3 hours on one night per week for one semester, or as Saturday workshops. The program takes 1 year to complete part-time. Over the past decade, the public relations industry has experienced changes in focus, from a set of technical communications skills into a much more strategic, professional and management-focused undertaking. The practice of public relations shows elevated concerns for ethical practice and social responsibility, as well as an appreciation of operating in a global market. As a result, the Graduate Certificate of Business Management (Public Relations) has been designed to produce practitioners with greater research, problem-solving, strategic thinking, planning, management, and communication skills.

Aims and objectives

The purpose of this program is to provide students with an understanding of the role public relations plays in a range of environments – private, corporate, government and not-for-profit – and to develop skills in delivering public relations solutions to a diverse range of scenarios. Students will transform a set of technical communications skills into a more strategic approach to the management of the organisation’s public face.

Career opportunities

Most graduates will already be established in business careers, so through successful completion of their Graduate Certificate can expect better current job performance, promotion, and new opportunities in a broader business and international business environment. The program prepares students to move into public relations management roles and to take responsibility for the preparation of internal and external communications.

Lecturers

Most units in this program are delivered by practicing PR managers and consultants, across a variety of industry sectors, with a proven track record of performance – professionally and academically.

Course structure

The Graduate Certificate consists of three core units of study (subjects) and one elective. • Managing in a complex world • Public relations theory and approaches • Public relations practice

The Graduate Certificate of Business Management (Executive Administration) has been specifically designed to meet the needs of office staff who want to develop high-level knowledge and skills in the professional area of executive administration. The graduate certificate is an attractive alternative for those with significant work experience in this area, but without previous formal undergraduate qualifications.

Aims and objectives

The program aims to provide high level business knowledge with practical skill applications that are relevant to executive assistants working directly for senior managers. The three core units address sound management principles applicable to complex environments, high level administration skills and knowledge, and communication and office project management skills. A diverse range of units are offered for the elective component, which allows students to specialise in a particular skill or interest area.
