Karl Hoblitzelle and Hoblitzelle Foundation have shown an enduring commitment to the advancement of our city and state. For its entire 75-year history, Hoblitzelle Foundation has sought to fill gaps that others might not see. Its leaders have worked to fully leverage others’ giving through gifts of land and matching funds to magnify the capital available for the strategic priorities of the state. Karl Hoblitzelle established an equally enduring commitment to improving the health of the community. The Beth F. She provided funds to establish the Lyda Hill Department of Bioinformatics at UT Southwestern to advance this critical discipline that uses big data and pattern recognition to exponentially increase the ability to prevent, detect, and treat disease of all kinds.
Ken and Julie Hersh, a Foundation Trustee, passionately champion early detection in depression and mood disorders, clinical research to support individual diagnoses, and the extension of mental health knowledge into schools and a broad network of physicians’ offices. Their lead gift established the Center for Depression Research and Clinical Care at UT Southwestern, now reaching thousands of previously unreached patients.

Nancy’s recent work as a passionate advocate for the Pancreatic Cancer Prevention Program has been in sharing its purpose and encouraging others to raise awareness.
After making a generous, leading gift to support the Program, she said, “I have been concerned about the rise of pancreatic cancer for years…I hope my gift will inspire others to contribute funding to fight pancreatic cancer or support another area important to them, so we can all make an impact in saving lives.”
