Farm House MAYFAIR

A magnificent four-bedroomed house on one of Mayfair’s most sought-after streets, Farm House was beautifully refurbished with fine furnishings and works of art in 2013. Taking its name from the site’s original farmhouse that predated the development of Mayfair, the property was rebuilt at the beginning of the 20th century with medieval and 17th-century elements as a gentle nod to its heritage.

The property’s colourful history continued, as it became home to aristocracy and socialites throughout the 1930s, first by Swiss-born Thelma Furness, Viscountess Furness (1904-1970), the twice-married mistress of the then Prince of Wales and later King Edward VIII, during their relationship between 1930 and 1934. Furness subsequently lent the house to Wallis Simpson, who entertained the Prince of Wales there, and the American actress Gloria Swanson.

The collection is led by a Louis XV kingwood, tulipwood, sycamore and parquetry inlaid meuble d’entrée, made for the King at Château de Fontainebleau, which is complemented by Continental pictures, English and European furniture, lighting, and period and modern decorative furnishings.
