I had a great camp experience. I met lots of new people. Last year, I had a diďŹƒcult time making new friends but I am glad I came back to camp this year because this year I made lots of new friends and new memories. I remember doing the sports activities last year and being very excited! My favorite activity was tubing. It was so intense but AMAZING! I also really enjoyed the evening activities! My favorite evening activity was minute to win it. We had a minute to do crazy and super hard tasks! If we could do the task in a minute, we would win! My favorite class was Sikh History. I learned a lot of super cool and new things. My favorite part was the mock sarbat halsa where the issue we discussed was whether the 1984 Battle of Amritsar should be mentioned in the Ardaas. I had a BLAST at camp and I am looking forward to coming back next year! By: Suhavi Kaur

My Counselor Experience 2011 was my first year attending SYANA Gurmat Camp and I never thought I would have as much fun as I did, let alone become a counselor five years later! This year was my first year at the new campsite in Michigan. I tried so many new things like zip-lining, canoeing, and tubing! I had a fantastic time and I cannot wait to come back again next year! Counseling this year was a humbling and enlightening experience. For example, I would wake up the kids, support them, get to know them, have fun with them, teach them and learn from them. These were all great learning experiences for both me and the campers! From this seva, I also learned to be more patient, outgoing, and joyful. Counseling the Bibi Dalair Kaur room with Satroop Bhenji was by far my favorite part of camp. My siblings also had so much fun making new friends and enjoying the camp experience. Meher Kaur (NJ) inspired me to go home and start learning a little bit of tabla. She is an amazing person and player for her age and I cannot wait to see her flourish into a great leader! I would like to end with saying that SYANA Gurmat Camp is like a family and I am SO glad to be a part of it. By: Harmeet Kaur
