AMSA was officially founded in Manila, Philippines in 1985 and from this day has been an active, dynamic and exciting student-led, notfor-profit, non-political organisation.

The Asian Medical Students’ Association (AMSA) International is a peak representative organisation for medical students from across Asia, the Asia-Pacific and beyond. Training doctors from 16 Member Nations and 9 Associate/Observer Nations combine to share knowledge, undertake activities and social services and create international and trans-continental friendships. Since it was first established in 1979 and the first conference was held in Mahidol University of Thailand the Asian Medical Students’ Conferences have been a key focus for the organisation. Now held biannually in January/February and July/August these events see over 700 students from across the world combine to learn from each other, teach their fellow peers and develop lasting friendships.

Asian Medical Students’ Association Indonesia (AMSAIndonesia) is the peak representative body for medical students in Indonesia. Founded in Yogyakarta, August 10th 1996. AMSAIndonesia has been actively participating in plethora of national and international events. Its contributions to AMSA International as the root of the organization are succinct, having hosted four Asian Medical Students’ Conference (AMSC) in 1990, 1996, 2003, 2010 and two East Asian Medical Students’ Conference (EAMSC) in 2006 and 2015. Not only active in national events, AMSA-UKI also has been given opportunities to participate in several AMSAInternational events through its delegates in AMSEP, AMSC and EAMSC.
AMSAUKI Asian Medical Students’ Association Christian University of Indonesia was formally found in 29 August 2008. AMSAUKI was brought upon by seven founders, they are namely dr. Putri Puspitasari, dr. Raedy R. Susanto, dr. Jillientasia Lilihata, dr. Windri Retnaningdyah, dr. Dwi Handayani, dr. Rizky Ahmad Ayubhi and dr. Ido N. Bramantya (who was the first Representative of AMSA UKI itself).
