Linda Gamblin Head of TrainingMy practice extends across dance, theatre, movement and martial arts Creatively, I’m interested in the theme of humanity; what humans do with, against and in relation to each other In order to research these themes I work with duration and depth, looking for ways and methods to explore thoroughly and completely in order to open up new access points and new perspectives to the content.
Alexandria Panetta Learning AssociateI am interested in articulating theory and practice, incorporatinglinks between academia, philosophy and historical compositional methodologiesand weaving theminto my movement research and teaching practices By drawing on many theoretical underpinnings of compositional methodsand research onimprovisational praxis and embodied cognition, I am curious abouttheories of instantaneous experiencesand explore thismy practice
Within my movement techniques I work with a strong physicality informed by floorwork, flow and momentum My teaching method is to encourage and inspire students to engage in their own learning and to pull as much information from the workshop, teacher or class as possible
I believe duration of time and research is the key to unlocking a theme, idea or movement practice and my workshops and classes reflect this.
This process of sharing and researching is always in collaboration with the participants, with an active information exchange between them and the workshop leader I’m looking forward to discovering what each of you brings to the individual courses and witnessing the results of your work
This intrigue focusesmy creative attention onthe intricate nature of improvisational flow states and the potential improvisation holds for the development of authenticity and artistry.
I am inspired by my multi-modal ways of seeing and doingandincorporate the use of film and writing as compositional tools to exploreand archivethe nuances of ephemeral movement patterns.I am committed to continually evolving mypractice and research in the studio and within my researchtoinvestigate innovative approaches to compositional pedagogyin training and education thatalignscreative learning with the professional field.
