5 Tips for Cleaning & Maintaining Wood Burning Stove

Sooty Glass Using the moist firewood or lighting the fire incorrectly leads to the sooty glass. This can be cleaned using the ashes from the stove. Just dip a moist cloth in the cold ash and wipe off the glass.

Dirty Surface The exterior of the wood burning stove is cleaned using a vacuum cleaner with soft brushes. A soft cloth serves as a better alternative. However, avoid using a moist cloth as it may cause rusting.

Scratches in the paint In case you find scratches in the paint, it is easy to remove it. Try buying a paint which is heat resistant. Additionally, make sure that you remove the dust properly before painting it.

Worn Gaskets Check out the gaskets properly and change them if you feel like changing it. They get worn after a particular time and shall be changed without much delay to keep the stove tight.

Empty Ash Pan It’s better to vacate the ash pan and the fire box completely. And, remember to empty it during summer, so that it is completely ready to lighten during the season.
