“What is green? / the grass is green, / With small flowers between.” A study of colors based in nature meant for the youngest learners, Christina Rossetti’s timeless poem is here represented in vivid, interpretive art by French illustrator Laëtitia Devernay.

Born in 1830, Christina Rossetti privately published her first poetry collection, Verses, at age 17. With the support of her literary family, she continued writing and became one of the most celebrated poets of England’s Victorian age.

French artist and graphic designer Laëtitia Devernay, a graduate of the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg, has received several international awards in little more than a decade of work. This is her second book for Creative Editions, after 2018’s Shapes All Around.
