I’ m a 2 0- year - o ld s elf - tau ght po rtr ait photographer. I’v e just finished studying for a degree in English Lan guage . I ’ d descr ib e my st yle as naturalistic and atmospheric . This month I’ll be sh ooting all over the U K - Lo nd o n , Newcastle, Blackpool and Manchester. I’d like to speci alise in sh ooting inti m ate po rtr aits fo r musicians , stripping ev erything back and taking away all the ex tr avagant o utfits and m a k eup and just photographing them in a way they ’v e perhaps n ot been s een b efo r e . I ’ d also lik e to d o things like photographing (perhaps ev en filming) at music videos , d o cum entin g an artist ’ s r eco r ding proces s in the studio, and shooting backstage at gigs etc .

I ’ m a 22 y ear o ld fashion photographer from the M idlands . I first started shooting fashion in early 2 011 after a co uple of y ears of working as a family po rtr ait ph oto grapher. I’v e had my work featured in o nline fashio n m agazines like Tantrum Magazine and b lo gs lik e the Creativ e Book. I’v e also had the ch an ce to teach photography to A-lev el students in 2 010 and 2 011 . I was comissioned by Arden School in So lihull to r un workshops to teach photography students everythin g from studio lighting s et ups and lo catio n sh ooting to retouching and using so ci al m edi a to promote thems elv es. I’m currently fo cus ed o n r efining my st yle and putting together the b est b o dy of work I possibly can. Once I’v e d o ne th at I w ill think about approaching photogr aphic agen cies in London.

My n a m e is torne leigh v elk and I am from cape town south afr ica . I started photography at the age of 15 and realised i was tr uly pas sionate about it . I began with my brothers nikon camera, t wo fr iends and a white wall. It ’s funny to look back now, I have pr o gr es s ed so much since then. Photography is an addiction and I a m co n stantly crav ing it . I hav e a deep lov e for photography, a lov e th at grows more with ex perience and age. I lov e m eetin g new cr eativ es, I hav e photographed models from many agen cies b ut a m n ow concentrating on an agency in cape town called Fan Ja m .
