UNDERSTANDING VIVVO STRUCTURE Vivvo CMS is designed to organize content in the form of Category => Article => Comments.

Categories The top level in Vivvo CMS’ content structure is called a Category. Categories are containers that group content items together on your website. You can use categories to organize your website’s content items into groups. Categories allow users to navigate to the information they need quicker. Categories use the parent-child architecture. This means that you can set up a top-level category (for example, "Sport"), and multiple Subcategories (for example, "Basketball", "Football" and "Tennis"). Subcategories are used to differentiate between groups of Articles, which represent web site content. All of this is a linear-formation of navigation menu.

Topics & Tags Vivvo supports non-linear navigation menu through Topics. With topics you will dramatically improve site structure by serving related content on your website.

VIVVO CMS User Guide & Manual

Site structure (Menu) A basic structure might look like this: • • • •

World (Category) Business (Category) Politics (Category) Sport (Category) o Basketball (Subcategory) o Football (Subcategory) - This is your first website article (Article) - Football World cup 2018 will be somewhere (Article) o Tennis (Subcategory) Weather (Category)

This structure remains constant across all pages of the website and can be graphically represented as follows:

Categories help you organize your website content. Proper content organization can greatly improve the flow and usability of your website and it is important to understand this structure before proceeding to development of your website.

Managing categories/subcategories Let us take a look at the main operational principles and benefits of the tree menu structure.

If you are using Windows explorer or any other file browser, you will understand the Vivvo tree hierarchical structure very easily. Just as we have explained in the previous chapters, your website is structured and organized into logical entities using categories and subcategories (like shown in examples). The tree menu structure allows you to easily access any of your categories, subcategories and their preferences. It also enables you to reorganize your website and to change relationship between objects using simply drag and drop mechanisms just like you do in the Windows PC environment. You may use the simple ‘drag and drop’ mechanism for the following actions: • •

if you want to change the order of your categories or subcategories If you have decided to change a subcategory into a category and vice-versa

VIVVO CMS User Guide & Manual Topics & Tags What is a topic? A topic is a group of tags. You may distinguish tags into logical sets like people, places or events. This introduces semantic relation between tags that will give more depth and perspective to tagging. By doing so you will dramatically improve site structure and serving related content on your website.

24 Copyright Š 2003-2011 SynchrosysConsultings&Softwares Co., Ltd

VIVVO CMS User Guide & Manual

What do topics offer? Ability to provide semantic relations to your content Instead of putting all tags in the same basket like on other CMS systems, with TOPICS you'll be able to group tags in logical sets and give depth and perspective to providing related content to your website visitors. For example, if you have a website with content related to movie industry, you might want to tag articles using distinct TOPICS - Actors, Genre and Rating. "Actors" topic can have tags: Angelina Jolie, Matt Damon, Robert De Niro; "Genre" topic can have tags: Drama, Comedy, Action, Thriller; and "Rating" topic: PG-13, R This way you will be able to automatically serve other comedies on article page that is tagged with genre: comedy, or other movies with the same actor. By doing so, you will provide depth and context to your website content automatically! Cross-category posting If you want to take advantage on cross-category posting capability, you may want to use TOPICS instead of CATEGORIES in navigation. Single article can be easily tagged with same tag across several topics, and therefore appear on every respective topic page. For example: You have an article about iPhone and topics Apple and Smartphones, respectively. Topic "APPLE" may contain tags: MacBook, iPod, iPhone, OSX, and topic "SMARTPHONES" tags: Blackberry, iPhone, Nokia, Motorola, Palm. By tagging the article with Apple::iPhone and Smartphones::iPhone you will ensure that article appears on both topics in navigation and provide cross-category posting.

VIVVO CMS User Guide & Manual

Advanced control of homepage or other templates System topics are keywords by default that can’t remove or change. There are the following keywords: homepage, headlines and video. Articles with keyword "homepage" will be shown in website’s homepage. If you put for some article keyword "headlines" that means your article will appear in headline section. And also with keyword "video", you put article in section Video.

You can add keywords into System topic like "breaking news"etc.

VIVVO CMS User Guide & Manual

What can I do with that? As you can see, you can manage your articles all around website. If you put an article in any category, it will be shown only in that category. But with system topic you can choose where you want to see that article too – maybe on the homepage or as a headline. Templates for topic Every topic might have template for itself. For example: You have topic "Actors". In its template you might have a picture for every actor/actress, some description, related articles etc. And template for all actors is the same.

Tags A tag is a non-hierarchical keyword or term assigned to a piece of information. In Vivvo, tags are used to label articles. For example, you have an article about new Bentley Mulsanne. For this article, you may add two tags at least: Bentley and car. How to add tags? Tags can be added to article in several different ways. #1: Adding tags in article add/edit window

VIVVO CMS User Guide & Manual #3: Adding tags to Topics. Keyword topics are the set of any tag (s) you put into yours articles. For example, if you write an article about actress Angelina Jolie and her work with refugees as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations. Yours keywords may be the following: actress, Angelina Jolie, refugees, goodwill ambassador, United Nations etc. Each of these keywords is separate in itself and it automatically goes to Topic Keywords. Besides Topic Keywords, all others keywords must be added through some Topic. Here is an example for this:

First, you should click on the topic in which you want to add tags. Second, click on the button "Add tags". Third, now you can add new tags. And finally, click on the button "Add" and your tags are in the topic.

Links A link in Vivvo CMS represents any unique resource that can be invoked via URL, inbound (on the site) or outbound. Inbound links can be articles, pages, tags, links to separate sections of website, such as forum or blog. Outbound link can be any valid URL. Links are most often used to bind static pages, or articles directly to top-level navigation of your website rather than having them appear in respective categories - i.e. "About Us", "Contact" or similar.

MANAGE FILES &DOCUMENTS Administering your Vivvo website will probably result in collecting a lot of different files – video and audio files, zip archives, puff and power points and mostly pictures. Upload and keep all those files on the server organized for all your staff members to access and use them when they need to. The best way to keep your files organized and always accessible is to keep them in /files folder and its subfolders that already exist or that you’ll create. Whenever you want to use any uploaded file across your website it will be just a couple of clicks away, while uploading is also available through admin interface and simplified. Once uploaded, you can browse all your files quickly and easily. By default, /files folder contains of subfolders: • •

/banners - when using Banner Manager plug-in all image and flash banners you create will be stored in this folder. /logs - this folder keeps textual files that store your staff activities like adding/editing articles, creating categories, log-ins, changing preferences etc. Separate .txt file is created each month. The file can also be downloaded from Vivvo Administration Area. /temp - cooperates with Extend Vivvo plug-in and acts like a temporal container for files that you download and install - chosen asset is stored in /temp folder while download progresses and then it is being copied/installed to destination folder. After successful installation add-on gets deleted automatically from /temp folder.

When you upload any file through Vivvo Admin interface, it will automatically be given a suffix. Example: my_image.jpg will be stored on server as my_image_987654321.jpg This function that auto generates filename by adding a random number between 100000000 and 999999999 to original filename prevents files with the same name to be overwritten accidentally.

Images Images in Vivvo can be accessed directly through files.php (without any modification) or via thumbnail.php. The thumbnail.php performs on fly re-size of images using GD library and stores the result in cache for further usage. Examples: 1. direct access to files: files.php?file=vivvo.gif 2. thumbnail access to files: thumbnail.php?file=vivvo.gif&size=summary_large

Store your images once and use them resized in different sections of your website (articles, summaries, galleries etc) while they are scaled using thumbnailer. Thumbnailer image resizing feature saves site administrators from having to manipulate images offline in order to fit them into different pages and sections as the image resizing engine dynamically resizes images to a necessary size format. Further, the thumbnailer will automatically resize an image if it is to be used across multiple spots within a web site and manages the various size formats that are required. Images are re-sized to fit dimensions but maintain aspect ratio. The thumbnailer generates several different size versions of your images when you upload them but this feature requires that your server have GD graphics library. Only if it’s installed correctly thumbnailer will resize your uploaded images automatically.
