Charac ters in The Play That Goes Wrong

Chris Bean: Chris is the head of the Cornley Poly technic Drama Society, direc tor of The Murder at Haversham Manor, and the ac tor playing Inspec tor Car ter. This is a big day for him, so he's taking ever y thing ver y seriously and is hur t when people laugh.

Jonathan Harris: Jonathan plays Charles Haversham. He cares about the play, though he's mostly having fun. He sees himself as a sor t of James Bond, though his personality is a bit bland.

Rober t Grove: Rober t plays Thomas Colleymore and does so with a ver y presentational style. Rober t and Chris have a power struggle to lead the Cornley Drama Society. He's unaware of those around him and doesn't feel bad when things go wrong.

Dennis Tyde: Dennis plays Perkins. His interest in being in this produc tion is tied to the chance to make friends. The audience laughing is agony for him.

Sandra Wilkinson: Sandra plays Florence Colleymore. She has ambitions to go to Holly wood and wants to be loved. She's willing to hur t anyone standing in her way but smar t enough to stay on the good side of those who can help her.

Max Bennett: Max plays both Cecil Haversham and the gardener Ar thur. He's never been on stage before and breaks the four th wall to engage with the audience. He's learned his lines and does what he's told, but he makes basic per formance mistakes.

Trevor Watson: Trevor is the show's lighting and sound operator. He's a bit of a curmudgeon who wants to get on with the show (though he's easily distrac ted and will occasionally talk to the audience).

Annie Twilloil: Annie is the play's stage manager. Initially terrified by ac ting, she grows to love it and be willing to kill for it by the end of the play.
