Global Schooling Program
The effects of the educational crisis in Syria extends far beyond higher education. There are over 1.7 million Syrian children out of school and more than 1.4 million are at an increased risk of dropping out. The global high school program has been established as a subsidiary branch within IUSR to empower young people with a holistic approach to education, and to address the crippling need for developmental education. It is our goal to provide equal opportunity avenues for continued education previously disrupted by ongoing violence, forced displacement, restrictions on movement, and a lack of internationally recognized educational authority to function during and after the conflict. IUSR strives to provide an opportunity for a future to be built from the rubble of the past.
With this goal in mind, a 4-story building with 36 rooms was rented for this academic year. 350 students, Kindergarten through ninth grade, have been enrolled this academic year (2022/2023). In the next academic year, we are proud to expand to offer preschool and high school students to displaced students through IUSR’s subsidiary branch.
Al Nahda Foundation for Studies and Development
Over 13 million people have been displaced and forced to migrate as a result of Syria’s 11-year war, and hundreds of thousands of university graduates and professionals have been forced to leave their work.
Many countries and international organizations attempted to collect data or conduct local research in order to better grasp the reality of what the future could look like in liberated areas. However, they are facing a lack of data and accuracy in a variety of fields, including in the sciences, education, technology, economy, health, and agriculture.
More than half of people surveyed say it is becoming increasingly difficult to find work due to constraints such as work permits, new skills necessary, competency demanded, and a desire to remain competitive, as well as limited job possibilities. In 2018, IUSR recognized the gravity of the problem and established a foundation on campus with the mission of collecting data and conducting analytical research with the goal of expanding the understanding of challenges in creating sustainability in Northern Syria. iUSR is providing the results of these studies to interested countries and organizations, as well as conducting research, training, and development to aid workforce development. The foundation will be supported by educated faculty and strong partnerships in order to achieve the following goals:
Conducting descriptive and analytical studies of the current reality of all life facilities in northern Syria.
Attracting international and global investments to develop the local community and improve professional and job performance.
Increase productivity and adherence to quality standards.
Increase innovation in new strategies and products.
Reducing employee turnover and enhancing the reputation of companies and their career and professional profiles.
To date, the university has signed International Academic Agreements in the framework of mutual recognition and cooperation with more than ten Sudanese universities. These universities include the University of Khartoum, Sudan University of Science and Technology, University of Gezira, and Gorajda University of Bosnia, with the goal of developing joint multi-level programs in order to grant university degrees bearing the seal and signature of the cooperating universities.

These facilities are equipped to support the educational process in accordance to international standards. Examples include the landscape area, 10.000 m2 is allocated to be 80% vs. 60% “globally” out of the total area, 12.500 m2. The classroom area is designated to be 1250 m2 out of total covered area, 1.700 m2. Since the total number of students registered currently at the IUSR is 1425 students, the university expanded to more than 87% of the total number of enrolled students in 2022, which is about 37% more than the number of the global standard of 50%.
