Weekends may be spent hiking, mountain climbing, rock hunting, golfing, boating or simply staying at home and working around the yard It is my experience that in order to find the most desirable area to live in any given city. You need to look for at least one of four things: Water Access ( Lake or River), City Views, A Golf Course and last but not least great schools. Think about this as you visit other cities. Where is the most desirable place to live in that city? If you look at river or lake access, in the hills with a view, close to a golf course or great schools you will be looking at the most desirable properties available in that city. Look at Seattle, Portland, Scottsdale, Los Angeles, San Diego or Salt Lake City just to name a few. This is true in every one of those cities. The warm springs mesa area is unique and special because it offers not just one of these amenities but all four. Visit Redfish Lake Redfish Lake is named for the brilliant sockeye salmon that once returned from the Pacific ocean in such massive quantities the lake shimmered red during spawning season. Approximately a 3 1/2 hour drive from Boise, Redfish Lake is nestled in the heart of the Sawtooth Mountains. Open from Memorial Day Weekend to the end of September, its accommodations include 21 cabin units, 11 motel rooms, and nine lodge rooms. There are a multitude of recreation opportunities both at the Lodge and in the nearby area. Activities include paddle boat’s, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, fishing, rock climbing, white water rafting, horseback riding and more. The Lodge also has a full service restaurant, a rustic western lounge with a full service bar, a marina, and a general store. If you plan to camp you will need to reserve a camp spot at least 6 months in advance. My family and I bring along our mountain bikes and inflatable kayaks, we spend one day on the trails and the other exploring the lake. What a great place to make memories with the family. Redfish is a must see if you live in Idaho or just visiting. The natural beauty of this place is only one of many reasons why Idaho is such a great place to live.
