How to Increase Security in Your Business According to IBM, business security incidents increase by 12 percent each year. These security breaches cost businesses billions of dollars and potentially threaten their sensitive information. How can you improve the security at your workplace? A number of products are available to help, and the best news is that many of these products can be obtained in one single system. If your company doesn’t have the budget for a new security system – no problem. A few SystemsTechnologies devices can be installed where needed and easily added to at a later date. All of the door and window transmitters, motion detectors and glass-break detectors are wireless. They can be easily and quickly mounted in existing concrete or brick buildings where wired systems are expensive or impossible to place. The master station that receives and, if desired, sends the wireless alarm information needs only an electrical outlet and the installation is complete just that easily. Door and Stairwell Alarms Naturally, doorways and unattended stairwells are among the most vulnerable points of any building. Door and stairwell alarms can be programmed to allow entry by day and alarm only at night or alarm anytime someone opens the door. Motion Detectors While the building is unoccupied, or in areas where limited access is granted, motion detectors are ideal for maintaining security. Again they can be set to always alarm or to alarm only at night in stairwells, storage areas or med rooms. Motion detectors can be set to various sensitivity levels so that the wind blowing or a bug crawling won't trigger the alarm, yet it can also remain sensitive enough to detect a person or group of people intruding in an area. Motion detectors are often used in conjunction with security cameras, but they can suffice as an inexpensive stand-alone security system. Emergency Alert System Emergency call systems help identify problems like floods, fires, smoke, or dangerously high temperatures so that the problem can be addressed quickly with as little loss as possible. These systems can be easily integrated into other security features to create one cohesive system. You can also elect to program the alarm or alert systems for a series of elevating notifications. For example, the system can first page managers, and if the alarm continues, it will begin to notify key personnel via cell phones, 2-way radios, or a central security office -- however you choose to distribute the information. Another benefit to wireless systems is that the wires cannot be cut. Many businesses with advanced alarm systems have fallen victim to break-ins, burglaries, and other disasters

because the criminals simply cut the building power or wires to the alarm. A wireless system never gives criminals the opportunity to disable the system, making it more secure for your staff, valuables, and building.
