Welcome to our 14th annual bull sale. This year will feature new AI/ET genetics in Duff Redwood, Canadian Classic and Basin Payweight as well as progeny from our new herdbulls Black Wheel Dracarys 178E and Red Six Mile Wick 146H. Lot 2 & 3 are out of our 2021 high selling bull Red ACC Redbox 119H. Lot 4-6 are full brothers to 119H and 7-9 are maternal half brothers these bulls offer a great opportunity to those that wished they had purchased 119H or have expressed interest in using him since. The offering is deep in quality and variety and includes many popular sire groups such as Nozeka, Redbox 55C, Foreigner 413B, Gold Buckle, Stirling, Momentum, Stunner and Buckaroo.
This year the bulls were fed a balanced TMR growing ration of hay silage, straw, corn silage, rolled barley, whole oats and a custom formulated mineral. The bulls are very athletic and have been wintered in large paddocks to ensure they get plenty of exercise. They will go straight to work and walk your pastures with ease. All of the cattle are familiar with both horses and dogs. We work with the bulls daily and we value the good dispositions in our breeding lines.
We took a pen of black bulls on the road this fall and had Champion Pen of Bulls at Harvest Showdown. We also had them on display in the Yards at Agribition wHere they were admired for their uniformity. Brian Blyth and ABC Cattle Co allowed us to show our high selling bull from the 2021 sale Red ACC Redbox 119H at Agribition. He was the heaviest Red Angus bull in the barn at 2540 lbs while still showcasing athleticism and fresh appearance.
2022 was a complete turn around from 2021 as we were blessed with early and consistent rains throughout May and June. We baled 1750 bales of hay, made 1000 tonnes of Hay silage, 1000 tonnes of Corn silage and 1800 bales of straw. It felt like the summer was spent baling and hauling hay. In July we celebrated the marriage of Breanna and Wade on the hottest day of July. The ceremony and reception was in town at the museum and we hosted family and friends at the farm for a weekend of visiting, looking at cattle, horse rides for the kids and barbeques.
The cattle market seems to have turned a corner lately also. With the tightest supply of feeder cattle in Canada since 2014 and the US cow herd is at its smallest since 1961. Calf prices this fall will likely be as good or better than they are now, and now is the time to keep back females and rebuild herds hit by the drought of 2021.
Austen and Katie have been kept busy with Finley who turned 2 in January. He loves doing chores with his dad, Papa or Gido even though he sleeps through most of it. They are expecting baby number two at the end of May. Their house is a buzz of activity and a seemingly endless collection of toy tractors busy carpet farming.
Breanna and Wade recently returned from their honeymoon in Hawaii and are settling into their life as husband and wife in Raymore.
Bruce and Ione are enjoying being grandparents, some traveling and enjoying time at the lake.
T Bar is once again managing the sale. We have complete confidence they will assist you with your requests. You are welcome to stop by the farm any time prior to the sale to view the cattle. If we can help you select your next herd sire please don’t hesitate to call. Hope to see you March 28th!
Sincerely,
Austen Anderson
FROM THE DESK AT T BAR...
Welcome to the 2023 Anderson Cattle Co. Red and Black Angus Bull Sale. Manitoba is the birth place of the Canadian Angus Association and just like Manitoba, the Anderson family has a long storied past in the Angus business. With the sixth generation of Anderson’s now calling the hills south of Swan River home, they continue to influence this great breed. First known for black cattle, the Anderson family had huge impact to Canadian Angus. One of the most prominent cow families in the entire country, the “Tibbie’s” was introduced to the world by Bruce Anderson. When Bruce and Ione branched out from the family farm, to start their own family and the birth of Anderson Cattle Co. is when the Red’s were introduced. Their insights to breeding Red cattle and incorporating black genetics and black cow families has influenced the Red Angus breed throughout North America.
This year’s offering is one of their best ever! Through the use of extensive AI and embryo transfer, combined with a consistent and productive cow herd they are able to offer you this outstanding set of bulls. The Andersons offer a balance of calving ease sires for your heifer pen and performance sires to breed to your mature cows that will produce pay weight calves that will put you in prime position to take advantage of a rising market, that will be even higher when the time comes to market the calves from this pen of bulls. All bulls selling will also give you the desired traits you need in your replacement females.
Whether you need Black or Red genetics or a combination of both you can find what you are looking for here. All backed up by a family four generations strong. Their customer service has kept them in business all these years and it is how they plan to stay in business for generations to come.
